We were searching for the quiet place with a small private yard because we have a baby. And it was! Everything was perfect, beach is just few steps away and almost private cause there is no big hotels nearby. The only thing the house is directly on the Gulf Blvd. and it was a bit noisy at night. The location is very convenient. St. Petersburg has few nice gardens and state parks where you can enjoy the green and different animals. There are some bars for young people around with live music.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: PLEASE NOTE: WE (THE LIDDELL'S - THE CURRENT OWNERS) PURCHASED THE COTTAGE IN MAY 2012. THIS REVIEW IS FOR A STAY IN 2009 THAT OCCURRED UNDER THE PREVIOUS OWNERS. SINCE TAKING OWNERSHIP OF THE COTTAGE IN MAY 2012 WE HAVE INVESTED IN A COMPLETE RENOVATION FOR THE COTTAGE. WE BELIEVE AS YOU REVIEW THE COMMENTS FROM OUR GUEST - FROM MAY 2012 ON - YOU'LL SEE COMPLEMENTS ON THE CLEANLINESS, THE QUALITY OF THE ACCOMMODATIONS, THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND THE HOME-Y FEEL WE HAVE CREATED. WE USE THE COTTAGE AS OUR PERSONAL GET-A-WAY FROM TIME-TO-TIME AND WANT OUR GUESTS TO EXPERIENCE ALL THAT WE APPRECIATE ABOUT COTTAGE#1 AT GULF SOUNDS ON TREASURE ISLAND. THANKS FOR CONSIDERING ENTRUSTING US WITH YOUR VACATION.

Do not pass this place up, the owners of this awesome cottage take great pride in it. We loved our stay there. This was our third time in Treasure Island but our first time at the cottage and we will call on them again when we are ready to visit Treasure Island. This little cottage really will help your stay in Treasure Island memorable. You are only a couple of minutes from the beach, just a short walkway and about a 10 minute walk to eating and shopping. The cottage is very clean and has everything you need. We really can't wait to return. Thank you so much for such a great place to stay :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks, so much Cami. You really captured what we try to provide our guests. We look forward to your next stay!

Every thing we could ask for! Great location, friendly neighbors, 10 minute walk to Johns Pass. We had so much fun. The cottage was a true beach house. Everything was so comfortable. Beach towels, chairs and toys all included, who could ask for more. Went deep sea fishing for the first time with T-KAT charters. Another fantanstic Florida experience! And of course the water was beautiful and only a 2 minute walk to the beach. We will definately be staying at the cottage again! Thank you Ken and Angela!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Thankyou Kevin for the nice review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Look forward to you staying with us in the future. Ken and Angela

The cottage was absolutely fantastic for our group. The place was clean, extremely close to the beach, and all the small touches provided by Ken and Angela were very much appreciated by our group. The neighbors were all extremely friendly to us, and the location to other restaurants and things to do in St. Pete's can't be beat. I would definitely recommend staying with the Gulf Shores!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Everything about the Liddell Cottage is exactly as shown in the photographs and more. The property is beautifully maintained. Ken and Angela provided a lovely welcome basket and a personal telephone call. The beach is a stone's throw from the property's main gate and John's Pass for great shops and restaurants (Sculley's) is a short walk over the drawbridge. Grocery and drug stores as well as an abundant of restaurants (The Middle Ground Grill, Conch Raw Bar and Grill, Foxy's, The Seahorse) and pubs (Caddy's, Rickey T's) are all a very short drive away. Live music (blues, jazz, country, margaretaville, rock, etc.) is always the norm in Treasure Island. You have your pick of venues and musically entertainment. The city of Tampa is about a 30 minute drive away and the airport is extremely accessible. Tampa has a terrific aquarium and waterfront walking paths, hockey team, and baseball spring training. It is a beautiful city. My family and I enjoyed our stay in the heart of Treasure Island at this very beautiful cozy cottage. We are looking forward to coming back next year! Thank you Ken and Angela for sharing your treasure.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: We value all our guests, and want their stay with us to meet their expectations - regardless of the length of stay. Lindsay, as a month-long guest, we're particularly pleased that the cottage and beach added to your vacation experience. And so glad that we'll see you again.

We had a wonderful girls week at the cottage. It was just perfect for my mother, daughter, and I. The decor was lovely and the place was spotless. There were fresh flowers and a welcome note upon our arrival. All the extra touches really went a long way to make use feel at home. The beach was so close and we didn't have to worry about crossing any busy streets. The only downside is the street noise, but that is going to be the case for many of the properties right off Gulf Blvd. Shopping and great places to eat are very close and there is a trolly right by the property. If you want a quaint home away from home at Treasure Island this is a great place to stay. It was so relaxing to come home to each day. Angela and Ken are great to work with.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My family really enjoyed staying at the cottage. We brought our two small children and I did not have to worry about them breaking anything. It is perfect for families with children. The cottage was very clean and the owner even had a gift basket waiting for us with kid friendly items included. The cottage was steps away from the beach with white sands and cystal clear water. We were able to go fishing right off the beach. The cottages beds were extremely comfortable with room for my children to play in the morning with their toys. And everything was included: linens, paper products, even beach chairs and sand toys for my children. What you see in the pictures on the website is exactly what it looks like. The cottage was central to lots of shops and resturants. I would highly recommend staying here over a hotel any day!Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: So happy to hear you had a great vacation. And glad the "welcome basket" hit the mark. We know from experience that when kids land after a trip they are in need of sustenance. Hope to see you again next year.

This was the 3rd times this year I stayed at the cottages and like aways, it was wonderful. The new decore is very tastefully done and makes you feel tranquil. Unlike staying in a resort, there is the privacy of your own place. It may be luck, but we have always found others staying, at the cottages, to be friendly and respectful of others privacy. The location is ideal. Mass transit is available at the corner and if you like to walk, there are several restaurants as well as John's Pass within reach. Sunset Beach is also close by. Also available is private transport, by golf carts. Great idea for those that want to drink and dance. You simply call, they'll come pick you up and take you where you want to go and call them when you are ready to be picked up. Like ourselves, most are return guests. We had a wonderful time and hope to be back soon. If you decide to stay here, you will agree.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you, Maria. You really captured what we enjoy about the cottage. It's so close to everything, yet when you are at the cottage you have privacy and warmth. And thanks for the compliments on the changes to the decor. There's still a bit more in the way of changes still to come.

My wife and myself stayed at the cottage for a week and it was great. The unit was very clean when we arrived. Has everything in it to cook your meals (if you don't want to eat out all the time). It is a short walk to the beach and you do not have to cross Gulf Boulevard to get to it. The beach was wonderful and almost like a private beach. All of the hotel traffic is a little further down the beach, so we really enjoyed being able to relax without alot of commotion around us. Sunsets on the beach were beautiful. The owners were great to deal with too. We have found our new Florida hangout!Owner response: Everyone needs a "Florida hangout" and we are so glad to hear that this couple is already planning to return to Gulf Sounds in the future. We are always thrilled when our guests truly enjoy their stay in one of our cottages. Yes, our sunsets are magnificent and our beach is very peaceful. Gulf Sounds is ideal for a relaxing, memorable beach vacation.

The owner is easy to talk to and very pleasant. The property is very nicely located to St. Johns, at a bus stop to take you to downtown TI and just steps from the beach and a boat launch on the bay. The beautifully decorated and very clean cottages are worth more than what you are paying. If you want 5 star pay for it. If you want a safe, comfortable, clean and convenient place to sleep and relax while enjoying the amenities and beach life, this spot can not be beat.Recommended for: Pet owners, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2012
About the owner: We are both transplanted New Englanders - Angela from Gloucester, MA and Ken from Medford, MA - just outside Boston (Go Sawks). We've been married for 36 years and together for 41, yet we're only 48 - go figure (lol). We've lived in a number of states and traveled some, but always wanted to be near the water. Our new Granddaughter brought us to FL.
Why the Owner Chose Treasure Island:
As soon as we saw this cottage it felt like the beach we knew and loved. A bit of Key West, a touch of Cape Ann. And the best part - the beach is only steps away. It is a particularly wonderful stretch of beach - lots of shells, we've never seen it crowded, and it's just a short walk to the water. We've only owned the property a short time, but we're amazed at the number of people that have reserved time this year - and into next - who have been staying here for years. We guess they enjoy it like we do.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
You don't need a car to access a range of eateries, live music, deep sea fishing tours, boat rentals, parasailing, jet ski rentals, and so much more. Many options are available a short walk away at John's Pass. The Beach Trolley stops in front of Gulf Sounds and will take you up and down the beach or to the local supermarket - Publix - along Gulf Blvd. But the gem is our beach. Access is only steps away from the cottage.
