    • Our family have now stayed at Villa Tevere four times and rather than getting tired of it we are drawn more and more to this wonderful place. Our children now think that it is theirs and are planning how they will go back next year and what they will do. Villa Tevere offers a lot for both adults and children. For children, we felt very comfortable letting them wander around the (well fenced) territory discovering it for themselves; the pool is just perfect both for learners (our youngest daughter finally learnt to swim there without supports this year) and for older children because the deeper end offers great diving opportunities. This year the children spent a lot of time helping Elda prepare our evening meal picking up a bit of Italian and some cooking tips along the way. For adults there are endless opportunities to explore the nearby towns and villages and even after four years we left with a feeling of disappointment at not managing to visit some of the places where we wanted to go this year. We fit in a "girly" day trip to Florence which was very nice as well. As in previous years, we had Elda cook our evening meals for us so we did not have to lift a finger to get a great local Italian meal presented to us after a day of swimming at the nearby lakes or visiting a medieval town or simply lazing around the pool. We also saw badgers and porcupines come out to look for their evening meals which added a bit of excitement. At night, looking at the stars in an endless sky for an hour is just priceless for someone with a busy life back at home. There were so many shooting stars this year, it must be a very lucky year that should follow this magical trip!

    • It's been my third time I visited this villa. It becomes more and more pretty every year - professional gardener takes care of the flowers and the fruit garden. If you come at the end of August/September you can enjoy figues, pears, plums and mulberry. The pictures on this site do not completely reflect the beauty of the house and the landscape - it's not a house with a flat roof, but a classical Umbria-style big house - spacious and cosy at the same time. The views are breathtaking. The lawn is always green and soft - my 4-years old daughter walked barefooted most of the time. The pool is always tempting and is big enough to really enjoy it several times a day. Every time we come we are happy to give ourselves in the hands of a cook, Italian lady Elda . Some of her dishes we keep remembering throughout the year until we can come back to this villa and enjoy it again. Also it makes the perfect sense to use the rent-a-car service, which is recommended by the owners of the villa - they are very reliable and nice. It's very convenient to travel around from there - the lakes Bolsena, Trasimeno and Pio De Luco are reachable in less than an hour. Also this year we went to Florence for a day - it's a 2 hours drive.

COMMENT FROM PAST GUEST. Date of Stay August 2008 "This year it was our second fantastic time we stayed at this villa.Every time we come with 2 big families, including 3 children of ages 2,3 and 4. Staying there is an outstanding experience. Beautiful view, 2spacious and comfortable houses and big territory, impressive gardenwith roses, lavender and fruit trees - lot's of places to walk and playfor children, nice swimming pool. Generally, it's a luxurious place witha home atmosphere. The whole impression is as if you are staying at yourfriend's houses, not in a rented property. There is a very cordialservice provided by the lady, who cooks and cleans. She even taught meto cook Tiramisu :)"

COMMENTS FROM PAST GUESTS. Date of stay July 2008 A PERFECT ITALIAN VILLA "We spent one week here at the end of July 2008 with our 2 children (4 and 6 years old) plus another family with 2 young children. It is absolutely fantastic - traditional but with all the mod cons, beautifully furnished (but not fussy), lots of space, lovely outdoor eating areas, amazing views and a great swimming pool which worked well for both adults and children with steps, shallow end, non-slippery tiles/stones around the edges and no sharp edges...our kids loved it and it was hard to get them out!! But perhaps the greatest thing was the availability of a fantastic Italian lady to shop, cook, clean for us if and when we wanted it.....her cooking was really tasty italian food which both the kids and us loved...and despite the language barrier we managed to communicate fine. The layout of the villa also works well for 2 families with additional accomodation in a small building next door. The nearby towns/villages (Todi, Orvieto) are lovely and we only wished we could have stayed longer. I would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone considering a stay in Umbria."

THESE ARE COMMENTS FROM PAST GUESTS. Date of stay August 2008 PARADISE "This was our third stay at this wonderful place in Umbria and we discover more and more about the property itself and about the places around it each time. The villa is absolutely perfect with beautiful views over the wooded hills opposite and a relaxing atmosphere. The views can be perfectly enjoyed both in the day and in the evening whilst settled in the comfortable seating on the veranda. At night the distant lights on the hills opposite are very attractive. The beautifully furnished villa has everything that someone going on a villa holiday may want. We are a family of 5 and came with a family of 3 and there enough space for all of us. The fact that some of the accomodation is in an adjoining building is very helpful because whilst we were on holiday together with the other family each of us could spend time privately if we so wanted. I would like to mention the outlying garden, which is fenced and gated, most of which is open and perfect for running around and exploring. There is a small orchard with plum trees, we enjoyed picking the fruit which was tasty too, as well as lovely established shrubs and flowers. The garden is well looked after and really distinguised this villa from others. The children loved playing in it and it is big enough for a stroll for the adults and extends both below and above the villa. We also really appreciated the services of the housekeeper who was very friendly and created a true Italian atmosphere which for us perfectly characterised and distinguished this holiday from other 'sunshine' summer holidays abroad. We asked her to cook for us every night because we did not want to go out in the evening with our small children and her cooking was more than a match for any of the restaurants we visited in the day and considerably better than some. For those with smaller children like us the swimming pool is on an entirely separate level and we have found that on all three occasions that the distance was a sufficient barrier for our young ones not to venture there along with the normal vigilance of course. It might also be of interest for some that the same distance and obstacles allowed mummy or daddy to exercise in the gym and swim unencumbered with young ones in total tranquility. We totally recommend this to anyone.

COMMENTS FROM HONEYMOONERS. DATE OF STAY July 2008 SIMPLY THE BEST "Cindy and Alan - Honeymoon - July 2008 This was my third time at the villa and I couldnt wait to show the villa to my husband and my two teenage stepsons. The villa gets more and more beautiful each time I visit. I was a little concerned that two teenage boys would find it boring but with the pool, gym, internet and Elda (the cook), the boys loved it! They are already nagging me to book for next year. Elda's cooking is amazing! The villa is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding areas. There is a great out let centre just over an hour away. Places like Todi, Overtio are just a short drive away and if you wish to travel an 1hr to 2hrs the choice of day trip destinations is endless! You do need a car and I recommend the car hire company used by the villa. There are sooo helpful and the have tom tom! Book now and you will have a great holiday Cindy"
