We just returned from a wonderful two-week vacation. We have been renting on the Cape for years and this was far and away the best place we have stayed. The spacious and airy house is comfortable and tastefully decorated. The deck is huge and the views are amazing. The location is very private and the grounds are beautifully maintained. The boat house -- with its kayaks, beach toys, tables and chairs -- made going to the beach with a bunch of kids a breeze. Best of all was a lovely garden next to the house, where we picked our salads every day, and the kind and helpful caretakers who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. For one of our family members, a young father who is wheelchair-bound, the caretakers not only made a bathroom more easily accessible prior to our arrival, but they labored to get him to the beach and into the water on a number of occasions. We are already planning our return trip for 2012!Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We just stayed at the Thompson Estate and my entire family truly enjoyed the experience. The property and its views leave you speechless. The Estate is expansive and extremely well maintained. The caretakers are extremely helpful, friendly and nice. The house has tons of room with lots of amenities and accommodations; where the whole family can just unwind and relax. The views from within the home and outdoors are spectacular. The grounds are so beautifully kept with many places to explore. This property is the perfect private getaway!! Everywhere you turn and look is a picture of perfection. To truly grasp the beauty of this place pictures and description fall short; one must come here and experience it for themselves. Barnstable and the Thompson Estate are hidden gems of Cape Cod. The location of this property is a prime location to make traveling to the surrounding areas of New England very easy. My family and I are looking forward to planning another vacation to the Thompson Estate!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We cannot say enough good things about this home. We have been coming here for 7 years- first just with adults and then with our growing families and it has become a place of deeply cherished and special memories. The views are fantastic, the bedrooms perfect for sleeping, the kitchen great for cooking, the living room wonderful for reading and games- just minutes walk down to the beach and you can get in a kayak or go for a walk. Thank you, thank you for the incredible family retreat! We have spent the past couple of summers with our extended family (ages ranging from infant to grandparent) at this very special property. The home is quiet and secluded and so very comfortable. We love the house--it feels like home and has everything one could possibly need. The on-site property managers are warm, very welcoming and there to help should you need anything during your stay. The beachfront location is unbeatable! There's so much to do on the property there's really no reason to leave--whether you take a walk along the private beach, lounge at the boat house, kayak to Sandy Neck or swim out to the sand bar at low tide. It's a short walk to quaint Barnstable Village for muffins in the morning at the general store or for a great restaurant or an ice cream in the evening. It's just a 5/10 minute drive to Hyannis if you're looking for more activity. But the views of Sandy Neck from every room in the house are what stay with us all year long! We love the time we have spent here and look forward to more!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy charm of our accommodations and location on the Cape. We were a diverse group with Grandparents (70+), 40 somethings, young adults, and young children (youngest 4), and everyone found their niche. The grounds were very private, tranquil, and well maintained. The house with its many windows provided an abundance of light, and amazing views of the water. While there was usually a steady breeze throughout the house, on rainy and muggy days, central air would have been nice. The kitchen was well equipped and we made good use of the Viking stove/grill with fresh clams we harvested on the beach, and stripped bass caught on a fishing trip. The boat house with it's four kayaks was a hit with the kids and the young at heart. The location was excellent with only a short 2-3 mile drive to the Hyannis golf course, Cape Cod Mall, and Barnstable Village. The Whale watching excursion and stripped bass fishing trip from Barnstable Village was first rate and very convenient. I have already recommended this property to friends and colleagues.Recommended for: People with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
