Home Away from Home - Winter Special!

Located in beautifully maintained Dalton Ranch, this 2300 square foot house is ideally located for year round use. It is a short 10 minute drive to town for great restaurants, etc.. It is very close to my favorite trails (Hermosa, Albert). As well as just 15 minutes to the ski hill. Also the Dalton Ranch golf course is right there!
There are 2 king beds and a queen size bed all brand new pillow tops! We also hope you enjoy the jet tub and steam shower in the master bathroom! The kitchen is well stocked with good quality items, high end appliances (kitchen aid and viking) and granite counter tops!
As fellow travelers we do not like to leave our 2 dogs at home (they enjoy the mountains too!) so we understand and are very pet friendly.

This was a great home to stay at. Nicely furnished, clean, and comfortable. Pretty well stocked kitchen, but missing just a few things that folks cooking "at home" would miss. However, it did include unexpected things like spices and a few condiments in the refrigerator. Beds were VERY COMFORTABLE. Linens were good, kleenex in each bath, other nice touches. I hate to recommend too highly because I may want to rent again! Working with the owner was very pleasant. Maintenance person lives close to the home - very friendly, and was helpful with showing and one minor maintenance issue. Overall - Excellent!!Did you find this review helpful? This home was a perfect place to stay. We enjoyed the home, location and the weather was great during our stay. The casita was perfect for our family to have some privacy. We would love to come back and stay here again. Very relaxing!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children.

We just returned from a week long stay and let me just say it was a wonderful time. The listing calls it a "home away from home" and it was that indeed. We have stayed in many vacation rentals and this one takes the cake. There was an immediate comfort as we entered the home. The location is perfect, not too far from town that a late night ice cream run was out of the question. The home was comfortable and designed for family closeness. If we return to Durango we will definately return to this home for our stay.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, families with young children.

The perfect home for our Christmas vacation!

I agree with the others, pictures do NOT do this home justice! I read all the reviews, looked at all the pics, but was still WOW'ed when we walked in! Its very big and roomy, but very inviting and comfortable. The heated floors were awesome! There was snow on the ground the whole week which made it feel just perfect for Christmas. The gourmet kitchen had everything we needed for our Christmas dinner; the griddle was a big hit for our breakfast foods; and the jetted tub and steam shower in the master bath were the perfect way to warm up and relax after a day on the slopes. The gas fireplaces were great and to have the washer and dryer to keep laundry caught up all week was a bonus! No mountains of laundry when I got home! During our stay, we rode the train; skied; snowmobiled at Molas Pass with the super nice Ice Pirates; visited Silverton and met some wonderful people that ran the Pickle Barrel restaurant (good food!!); the kids went down the hills on sleds; and we took huge amounts of postcard-like pictures. The little grocery store just down the road (PJ's) was great. It was very close by and the people were very friendly and the store was very nice and clean. This was our first trip to Durango and we will be back! We had no problems with the home and never had to contact the caretaker or homeowner after we booked, but the booking process was very simple and the homeowner very friendly and nice. The garage was plenty big enough to park our Avalanche and my sister's Tahoe in together with plenty of room to get in and out. We would definitely recommend this beautiful home to friends and family and hope to return next winter, if not sooner! Our two small dogs were right at home as well!! We could NOT have been happier about our choice in where to stay!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We have just returned home from a wonderful trip to Durango, enjoying your lovely home during our stay.. As mentioned in a previous review, “the pictures can not do this home justice”. It was far above our expectations – in all respects. Beyond your exquisite decorating taste, your home is very well equipped for every need. We enjoyed grilling on the patio. My sister and her husband, drove in from Indiana and joined us, and didn’t want to leave. She definitely enjoyed the luxurious mattress set in the Casita :) Also, the location was perfect, making it easy in/out for our day trips. The owner was very easy to contact with a couple of minor questions, and also has a local caretaker to contact, if needed. The next time we’re planning a trip to the Durango area, you will be the “first” to know. THX again for sharing your beautiful home with us, making wonderful memories for all. We travel quite a bit and this was by far, one of the nicest places we've stayed at. It's very cozy and has all the amenities of home away from home. We'll be back.....sooner than later.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed in this beautiful home in December 2009. We had two families - 3 adults and 4 children - and were very comfortable even without using the casita. The kitchen and living room area are open and inviting and there was plenty of room for the kids to play. The house had everything we needed for the weekend and it was all ready and prepared for us like we were at an upscale resort. The homeowners were friendly, informative, and easy to communicate with during our trip planning and even during the stay. The only thing we found that other renters should know ahead of time is that the casita does not connect through the interior of the main house. It has its own outdoor entrance. It would be perfect for grandparents or much older children, but for our purposes we ended up not even using it. If/when we return to Durango, this will be the first place we choose to stay!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The pictures do not do this place justice. It is luxurious. My granddaughters were with me and did not want to leave. The steam shower was heaven and the bedding so fabulous. We will definitely be back. It was child friendly and dog friendly.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
