This top floor, Chateau Roaring Fork corner condo with 270-degree views is located just three blocks from the Aspen Mountain Silver Queen Gondola, City Market and Downtown. The cathedral ceiling and floor to ceiling glass wall make it feel even larger than it is. From the spacious living/dining room you are treated to views of Aspen Mountain; and from the Master Bedroom are views of the Roaring Fork River and Independence Pass. The owners of this beautifully furnished mountain home just completed a designer re-model of the living, kitchen and bedroom areas in 2008 and the bathrooms in June, 2010. The master bath has a radiant heated floor and a shower with two shower heads and a window. The view from one shower head is Little Nell and the Gondola, and from the other shower head is the Roaring Fork River and Independence Pass. Our goal was to capture the spectacular views and location; while stressing comfort, coziness and convenience.
We set the place up exactly as we wanted it for ourselves, and assumed that is what others who love Aspen will enjoy also. The floor to ceiling glass on the south and west sides of the dining room brings the mountain inside. You have your morning coffee while watching skiers on Little Nell. This is the best location to watch Aspen?s renowned fireworks displays.
The kitchen and dining room feature granite countertops with a matching granite table for eight. There is a new gourmet kitchen, including cherry cabinets, a large gas range, and all new stainless steel appliances with a convection oven/microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator with icemaker, a separate wine cooler and a gas grill on the deck.
The living room has a gas fireplace inserted in an artist designed tile chimney and a flat screen television with DVD. You relax on a large, upscale leather couch, with both cove and Italian glass lighting fixtures.
The unit is fully serviced by Wi-Fi, allowing you to work comfortably on your laptop. Comcast cable to all of the televisions includes HBO and On Demand.
The Master Bedroom has a king size bed with a superfoam mattress, a flat screen television, an I-Pod docking system with a clock radio and a wall mounted fountain.
The other two bedrooms have wall mounted flat screen televisions with DVD?s, I-Pod docking system with clock radios and two extra length twin beds. At your request, the twin beds can be joined and made as a king size bed.
Your stay includes DAILY MAID SERVICE. Fresh towels and linens are provided daily, and sheets are changed after three days. Free domestic long distance calling is provided. There is also a full size washer and dryer, and a Rinnai Instant hot water system assuring that you will never run out of hot water.
The Chateau Roaring Fork has the largest pool in Aspen, accompanied by two large hot tubs.
They are great meeting places in which to soak after skiing, and a wonderful amenity in the summertime also. There is also a sauna, a small workout room, and community access to computers in case you didn?t bring your laptop.
The rules of the Condominium Association prohibit you from bringing any Pets. Management vigorously enforces The NO-PET rule. Also, this is a NON-SMOKING UNIT.
Because of the convenient location and Aspen's wonderful public transportation system you do not need a car while staying here. If you do bring a car you will need a pass to park it in the condominium?s lot. This will be provided at no charge.
Weekly rentals with Saturday-to-Saturday stays are preferred. There is generally a three-day minimum stay, with a seven-day minimum at select times. Daily and Weekly rates are listed. Monthly rates can be negotiated. All taxes are additional. Owner reserves the right to change rates at any time in the future.

i am purposefully not re-reading any of the prior reviews - so that i am not biased. {you might be reading the same info. but please consider it 'fresh'.} we are a family of 4 (with 2 teens) - and were in this condo for a week late March. The 3 standouts from our time: 1) the view is wonderful right on the mountain - and there are wrap around windows so that you can see all; 2) the condo has been renovated and in quite good taste; 3) maid service everyday. The beds are quite comfortable; linens are great. Kitchen is really nice - and well-stocked with cookware. Big TV with ### stations for the down time. There is lots of space for folks to spread out and relax. A pretty fireplace too - used often. Other things that made life easy - washer and dryer in the condo itself; ski storage outside the condo in locked cabinet. James could not be nicer - and wants to make sure all renters are happy. He gave me all sorts of advice planning the trip. He gives great advice to stock up on food on the way at a Costco (can no longer remember the town. And vaca ended only 2 weeks ago!) as for Aspen - we really like the rustique bistro (or bistro rustique?); i had a massage at Remede (St. Regis) which was terrific - but quite expensive.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.

So, to start off, this is not a review of the property itself, as I unfortunately did not get a chance to actually stay in it, but rather a review of the manager. Bottom line: he is a super nice guy - wonderful to work with. My group and I had committed to renting the condo but had to back out. This was some time in advance still prior to our planned stay, but nevertheless he let us back out of our commitment without trouble. Just wanted to let anyone considering this rental property to know they will be working with a really good guy! Think snow everyone! :)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We did a lot of research before deciding to stay at #42 Roaring Fork. We wanted a condo close to skiing and town, but also quiet and with a view of the mountains. This condo has all that and more. It is the nicest place we have stayed in, and we have stayed in many at various resorts.. The views are spectacular! Every amenity is there. The unit is beautifully equipped with TVs in every bedroom, and the living room. There is a washer and dryer in the unit. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, and plenty of dishes, utensils, every style glass and cup you would ever need. Everything looks brand new. There is even thorough maid service everyday. The pride of ownership is evident everywhere, and the owner very pleasant to deal with. There is also a huge pool and two hot tubs that are part of the complex. Definitely stay here when you visit Aspen. And I highly recommend that you visit Aspen for a unique ski and village experience. We did not have a car, but the public buses were very convenient, free, close by and go everywhere. However, the town center is very close where there are many great restaurants and shops, so walking was really easy and fun. Incredibly great vacation!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

I brought my 3 girls up to this beautiful condo this Summer. Everything was perfect. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen open and pretty, a grill on the patio, and a beautiful, huge pool. We of course walked everywhere, and this was a perfect location. The City Market is 3 blocks away. Everything was top quality and would definitely come again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Chateau Roaring Fork #42 We visited Aspen and stayed at Chateau Roaring Fork #42 during the Aspen Food & Wine Classic. As a property owner and property manager in Park City Utah, I just wanted to give my perspective and recommendation on this condo. I give the condo rental experience a five star rating. The owners keep this unit in pristine condition and we found it to be updated and decorated to a level that exceeded our expectations. This unit was perfectly clean and well maintained. You can tell that the owners take pride in the unit and didn’t cut any corners in quality and finish of the rooms. The tile fireplace in the great room, comfortable furniture, gourmet kitchen with plenty of counter space, huge dining area and spacious master suite with vaulted ceilings, washer/dryer in the unit, are just a few of the many fine qualities of this condo. This coveted location is walking distance to everything in Aspen. In summary, this is a fantastic three bedroom condominium in an ideal location to downtown Aspen.Did you find this review helpful? Ein herzliches Dankeschön aus good old GermanyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

After spending many Christmas/New Years in Aspen in many condos, I found this one to be one of the best. Very comfortable, very well equipped, very clean, great bathrooms, amazing views, and a great owner to deal with. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and were very comfortable in the unit. The unit was a lot larger than what the pictures portray.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

James' condo had everything we needed, and he was a pleasure to work with. Perfectly located and equipped for a family holiday, this condo is two blocks from a fullsize grocery store, has a generously sized pool and hottub that was used almost exclusively by our family during our stay (nobody else there on all but one occasion), has top-quality fullsized washer/dryer in the unit, and is located within walking distance of all Aspen attractions. Look no further--this is it, and James will make sure you have the info you need to experience Aspen with your interests in mind. Beautiful place, beautiful town. Thanks, James.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1986
About the owner: We met on a chairlift on Aspen Mountain in 1974. We live in Colorado, and so come up often, skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, hiking, riding our tandem bike (the adjoining picture of us with our tandem is on the bike trail in Glenwood Canyon), enjoying the music festival in the summer and relaxing by the pool complex at our place. In 2008 we completed a designer remodel of our unit, with the goal of making it the most comfortable and inviting. After an active day we often times grill on the barbecue on our deck, a wonderful place from which to toast the sunset and appreciate what a wonderful place Aspen is.
Why the Owner Chose Chateau Roaring Fork:
We had owned another condominium about a block away from this one since 1972. It did not have the open sunny feel we now enjoy, nor did it have the spectacular views that we always coveted in this Chateau Roaring Fork unit. When this high ceilinged, south facing unit, with 270 degree views including both the Roaring Fork river and Aspen mountain came available in 1986 we jumped on it. We knew that its sunny exposure with all day sun, and high ceilings made it very special. We were right.
