What to do when you are not enjoying the beach.....
The Gulfarium in Ft. Walton Beach has been a great daytime excursion for decades. Enjoy the great dolphin & seal shows that I am sure will delight the entire family. They also have "meet & greet" times where you can come up & close with various forms of sea life.
The Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier is a great place to have a fun afternoon. This 1262 Square foot pier has plenty of room to watch dolphins or fish in the octagon at the end of the pier. Rods & reels are well as bait can be rented/purchased at the store on the pier. The fishing pier is one of the best places in the area to view gorgeous sunsets.
One of my new thrills I have discovered is Parasailing. SunDog Parasailing is located just off of Emerald Coast Parkway on the sound side. To catch the most awesome views this is the way to do it!!
The Boardwalk at Okaloosa Island has several sand volleyball courts & a playground behind the Crab Trap for some jumping & running around fun. During the evening you will find Howl at the Moon & the Swamp for Music and entertainment.
When you dine out & not taking advantage of your fully equipped kitchen you will have several dining choices.
For Mexican, try Los Panchos on Amberjack Drive, they have Tex Mex food that is available for take out too!
Also on Amberjack Drive is Helen Back. They have the best pizza on the Island here! My personal favorite is the grilled chicken salad, it's always very fresh. Dine outdoors here and take in the view of the boats and water.
Old Bay Steamer is the tops for what else steamed seafood. There is a chance that you might get messy dining here. It's always a little fun to eat with your hands and make a mess isn't it??
Pranzo & Pandora's are just across Emerald Coast Parkway for additional dining options. Pandora's is a steak house & Pranzo offers Italian food with a Wine Spectators Award winning wine list.
Fort Walton's Beach Main Street offers cute stores such as Hugs & HissyFits, a memorabilia store, skate board store and a cute little coffee shop & bistro too.
Don't forget that Destin, Florida is only a few minutes away to the East over the bridge!! More great dining, shopping & water excursions can be found here!! Check out the Harborwalk Village!

This condo was extremely wonderful! We were there last week (the end of September). We were with two other couples and their rooms were nothing compared to this one. It was amazing! I will stay here the next time I come to Okaloosa. The beaches are the most beautiful beaches I have ever been to.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Perfect location. Perfect weather. Condo looked just like the photos. Price was reasonable. No resturarnts within walking distance, but we got over that. Great dinners at Helenback, McGuires and the Harborwalk Marina. Drive to Seaside was beautiful. Eglin Air Force Museum, just 10 minutes away, is worth the drive. One BIG problem---the bed! The worst we had ever had. It was so worn out, we both would roll, no matter how hard we tried not to--- to the middle, which was like the black hole. We would hug each of the sides, but no use. Rolled to the middle. Getting out of the thing was very difficult. Couldn't sleep, couldn't nap. Thought about leaving, just because of the darn bed. The problem was that everything else was so nice. Spoke with other guests at other units in Island Sands, and our problem appeared to be unique, other's diidn't have the same problem. Would like to find a place that does NOT allow pets. I love dogs just as much as the next guy, I just didn't like hearing them yelp at all hours or have to dodge them as I walked to and from the beach. Good grief...leave Fido at home. Cleaning crew could benefit by hitting the corners of the bathrooms and kitchen, but other than that, nice job on the place. We will return to the area,same time next year because there were NO crowds, which was awesome. But, until we know that this unit has purchased a new bed, it won't be here.
