Shocked & Disappointed

Guest: Amy (St. Peters, MO USA)
Date of Stay: 08/08/09 Review Submitted: 08/02/10

A year ago two families rented 2 condos from this owner. We entered our condos excited and realized this is not what the pics showed because both condos were filthy! Then the people below us harrassed, cursed & threatend myself, my friend and our children and the staff at Pelican did not help us. We were evicted in the middle of the night because the manager was scared of the tenant who was bullying and threatening us. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's department were unbelievably cruel to our families and threatened to arrest us for no reason. My children are still scared and post-traumatic from this experience. All the letters we have sent to Pelican Beach and vrbo owners and a year later still no reply. There were also women taking off their bathing suit tops at the pool in front of our kids, items were thrown off the balconies above us including a chair and we could not even walk around our condo or open our sliding glass door without the man below us complaining. We had neighbors too and heard the showers and toliets flush, laughter and people vacationing--but we would never complain. Pelican Beach was the worst vacation resort we have ever experienced. We are still shocked that no one has ever taken the time to talk to us-we were the victims and one year later we are all still shocked disgutsed and utterly disturbed.

Owner response:This renter rented two units and were evicted due to reasons Pelican Beach Resort Management deemed necessary to protect the welfare of all Pelican Beach Resort guests. I had nothing to do with the eviction, it is the sole responsiblity of the onsite management to protect the welfare of all. Neither unit was filthy and this was never an issue until they were evicted and wrote this review. Absolutely not true. Pelican Beach Resort is the most family friendly resort there is in Destin. I have owned there since the day it opened and have never seen the behavior these evicted guests speak of.

Beach at your doorstep

Guest: Benilda (Dallas, Texas )
Date of Stay: 03/14/10 Review Submitted: 03/26/10

Stayed here for 3 nights over spring break and enjoyed it. The pictures were what they say they are. We had the pool as you open the living room door and the beach was a few steps away. The property was very clean inside and outside. I saw security patrolling esp at night and is a plus when considering this property. There's a shopping center at walking distance to the left and right as you go out of the property and a grocery store nearby. I would definitely come back to stay here again.
