We stayed at this cottage for a week beginning May 4, 2012. It was just my husband and myself and we had fabulous weather for early May and a wonderful week vacation. Although this cottage sleeps 8 - 9 people, it was still very cozy for just the two of us and we truly enjoyed the privacy and quietness of where this cottage is located. The cottage is very easy to get to and there is a full grocery store (with video rentals included) only 10 minutes away. The surround sound television system is wonderful for watching movies at night and the fireplace was very enjoyable for us on the few rainy days and nights we had. We spent most of our time outside on the dock fishing and enjoying the sun. Cooking in the gourmet kitchen is wonderful, every possible cooking utensil or dish is supplied for you. We used the barbeque every night for meals and the outdoor firepit was also great fun! The master bedroom has beautiful views with all of the windows and the soaker tub in the main bathroom was a welcome treat to relax in. Do not hesitate to book this cottage, you will not be disappointed.

It's hard to know what to say about a place like this. Stunningly gorgeous yet super-comfortable, stocked with every kitchen item you can imagine (hello, martini glasses!), with a vibe that's so generous and welcoming... Let's just say that my three-year-old asked to go back THE NEXT DAY. (And we went in winter!) My dream cottage come to life! I'm already fantasizing about my young family's next trip there, and it's only been a week. Oh, and all bits and pieces -- food and drink-- can be purchased about 10 minutes away. Pinch me.

Just home from our Girls Getaway, Jewel on the Lake is just what it say's. A beautiful spot, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Even in mid November we had great weather and sat on the dock and took in the view. A great spot to catch up with friends, eat great food and drink good wine, and laugh like we haven't laughed in ages! The owners are also fabulous to work with! The cottage is very easy to find and very close to every thing that is needed. We even had a visit from Santa :) Kimm , Jenn , Laurie , Tara , Nicki

My girlfriends and I live in Ottawa and do regular cottage getaways to Tremblant, but this time we decided to try someplace closer to home. Booking this cottage was the best decision we ever made. The surroundings are stunningly gorgeous and peaceful, and the cottage itself is more like a luxury dream home! The owners have thought of absolutely everything in constructing this piece of paradise, including a backup generator that kicked in instantly when a heavy thunderstorm knocked out the area's power for a few hours. Add to that the hospitality of the owners (who called to make sure we were okay after the power outage and even sent someone over to refill the propane in the generator as a precaution) and who needs Tremblant anymore?! From now on, we'll be booking Jewel on the Lake!

My husband and I with our 4 kids stayed at 'the jewel on the lake' for March break. We thoroughly enjyoed our stay in your home. Our boys loved the loft and my husband and I woke every morning bathed in sunlight from the large windows in the bedroom. The scenery was amazing even at this time of year. We'd love to come back in the summer or fall. With exceptionally warm temperatures, one of our highlights was relaxing on the dock and eating lunch by the lake soaking in the welcome warm rays of spring. The fireplace brought cozy ambience in the evenings. The house was very clean and well supplied. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen a treat to cook in. The quick access to Ottawa allowed for many day trips with ease. We appreciated the exceptional design of the house with its many well thought out details and were impressed with the decorating. We would recommend this 'jewel on the lake' to anyone.

This was a perfect retreat to bond on 'family day' weekend. The house is beautiful, the views from the house are stunning and the property and frozen lake provided hours of fun for my children. We can't wait to return!

This cottage is absolutely exquisite – new, spacious, great views, wonderful lake, and all the comforts of home. In fact, once you visit, you won’t want to leave. It is a special cottage in a beautiful setting. If high ceilings, a cozy fireplace, a user-friendly new kitchen, a great meeting and eating room, wrap-around porch and screened in area appeal to you, well so will this gem. It is so nice, it took me 6 months to write a review as I didn’t want others to know about this find.

What an amazing 'cottage'! We relaxed in the wonderful comforts of 'The Jewel-on-the-Lake' and read our bag of books, did nothing and then rested from doing nothing!....never an easy thing to do but were able to re-energize in this gem of a home and enjoy all the autumn colours, the beautiful view and wonderful walks. An 'absolute' recommendation as a destination place for nature lovers!

My wife took one look at the photos of A Jewel on the Lake on VRBO and said 'We have to stay there' and the cottage did not disappoint, in fact it exceeded our expectations, everything you need in a cottage was provided for. The cottage was very clean and it had lots of great places to sit, inside and out to enjoy views of the lake.

A beautiful home in a lovely setting; yes it is a jewel in every sense of the term. Easy access to Gateneau Park and Ottawa as well as several other attractions and restaurants. Or stay local and walk, bike, paddle or hang out on the decks and soak up the peace and quiet. Perhaps the best testimony we can offer is that while we did not have very good weather, we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We have just returned from a wonderful week spent in this spectacular cottage/chalet, set in an equally spectacular location! It is only surpassed by the friendliness and pride of ownership by the hosts. Our goal in renting this cottage (nearby to our former home town of Ottawa) was to leave the concrete jungle behind and to avoid the sterile surroundings of most hotels – the result was one of the best weeks we’ve ever had, visiting Canada. The designer kitchen was wonderful for entertaining; in fact, the chalet is completely outfitted with everything we needed to ensure a hassle-free stay whether enjoying the BBQ, sitting on the dock watching the herons, otters and loons or curled up in front of the stone fireplace. The pictures of this property – inside and out – do not do it justice! You will not regret renting this “jewel”. It is THE perfect place for families, couples or anyone who wants easy access to nature in a relaxing, tranquil woodland while at the same time having all the comforts of a designer home.

The Jewel on the lake is an understatement. This comfortable palatial cottage is just what we were looking for. The 7 of us that stayed over the duration of the Ottawa Marathon weekend had a fantastic time and felt pampered in the comforts of this well appointed cottage. We are all trying to figure a reason to return as soon as possible. Certainly we hope to be back again some time in the near future.

My husband, our friends and I stayed at 'A Jewel on the Lake' this past weekend in May for three nights. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous and superbly maintained by its owner. All the conveniences of home (and more!) with gorgeous lake views and access to the water. The owner was very friendly and easy to work with throughout the whole process of planning and throughout our stay. The cottage is very accessible with grocery stores and amenities nearby. I also enjoyed jogging along the peaceful roads leading up to the cottage (I bet they would be breath-taking in the fall) and then treating myself to fabulous bath in the spacious main bathroom. I will definitely be returning!

Feb 21, 2009. Our 4-man curling team just completed a week at the cottage while competing in nearby Gatineau. We thoroughly enjoyed this cottage with its multiple bedrooms, gourmet kitchen, stone fireplace and incredible location. The radiant floor heating was a delight to our feet! A perfect location regardless of the season.
Owner response:A pleasure to have this great bunch of guys as clients.
