Comfortable Cottage Steps from the Ocean

You can't be any closer to the ocean than in this little cottage by the sea. Cozy and comfortable for a small family or 2 couples with 2 BR and an open living area that boasts some spectacular water views. Finished with a knotty pine interior and pine floors, fully equipped kitchen and dining area and comfortably furnished, this is a relaxing and peaceful retreat. Relax with a book or perhaps some paints, this view is incredible, or sunbathe on the expansive deck and enjoy the views. Sit out with your morning coffee and watch the lobstermen pull their traps alongside eagles, seals and various sea ducks and birds. Open water views but also has a great kayak cove to explore or just have fun walking the rocky shoreline and stopping to examine the tidepools or perhaps be lucky to find some seaglass. Stargaze to your heart's content or watch for the illuminated cruise ships on the horizon as they leave Bar Harbor. There's much to do in the area but you'll find it hard to leave here!!

The cottage on the coast was a lovely place for our family of 4. An open floor plan that seems to be larger than it really is because of the slider/door onto the deck which is easily the same size as the living space inside. The kitchen and bath/shower were more than adequate. There are neighbors close by ...but you really can't tell as the cottage is surrounded by woods and they are very quiet:) Having the high tide 8' from the deck was great and the rocky shoreline made for some interesting beachcombing. This place served as a great base of operations for our many activities - far enough off the tourist track to be relaxing, near enough to get to Bar Harbor and Acadia in 35 minutes (using back roads... 45 using highway). Nearby lobsterman had fresh lobster daily and quite inexpensive ($3.50/lb... or the Winter Harbor Lobster Co-op at $6/lb. We hated to leave - it was a week w/out cell phones, computers, and TV! My two teens w/ a little help from their dad worked on the "Bob the lobster puzzle in the evenings. Bring bug repellent!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband, 16 year old son and I just spent a week in this wonderful cottage. The views from this property are amazing! Across the cove you can see the beautiful rock shoreline and spruce and fir treeline, to the left is beautiful open ocean! The tide comes up almost under the spacious deck. We were lucky enough to be there during a full moon and the moonlight on the water was breath taking! We have spent the last five years vacations in the Bluehill area of Maine and visited the part of Acadia with "Ocean Drive and The Park Loop Road. While that was so beautiful, we really enjoyed the quiet dramatic beauty of the Schoodic Peninsula. I hesitated to write this review because we would love to keep this part of the world our little secret, but we know that we should share this exceptional scenery with everyone! The cottage was clean and well equipped with everything that we needed. We appreciated the comfortable bed and pillows and the upscale kitchen pots and pans, knives etc. We all whole heartedly reccomend this cottage and hope that we will be fortunate enough to return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
