Accommodations: Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)
Keywords: Condominium
In a fantastic location in central Budapest, just below the Castle District, and two blocks from the Chain Bridge, this comfortable, fully-stocked one bedroom apartment is located in a classic Budapest early 20th century building. It overlooks one of the buildings two courtyards, and is secluded and quiet. The sunny one-bedroom (53 square meter) apartment sleeps two in the bedroom, and an additional two can comfortably sleep on the foldout couch in the spacious living room. A baby crib can be provided on request.
With original hardwood floors, tall doors, nice moulding, double windows, and high ceilings, a stay at the elegant apartment will make you feel like a local. It has recently been renovated, and is newly furnished with comfortable modern furniture. The apartment is situated on the second floor, and there is no elevator.
The apartment includes unlimited free wireless Internet for your laptop, free use of a Hungarian mobile phone (you pay the air time), a full, well-equipped eat-in kitchen, oven-stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, utensils, a washing machine (but no dryer, as is typical in Hungary), a flat-screen television with cable and DVD player, a full bathroom with a claw-foot tub and hairdryer, linens and towels, and an iron and board. There are collections of Budapest guidebooks, books, Hungarian CDs, and DVDs of Hungarian films. The apartment is completely fitted to provide everything necessary for your stay.
The apartment is centrally located in Buda in one of the city’s oldest, most atmospheric neighborhoods. The street is a one-block street with little traffic, and a staircase at the end of the block leading up towards the Castle. Quiet, narrow staircases abound in the neighborhood, and the surrounding streets are lined with 19th and 20th century buildings.
There are numerous good restaurants and cafés in the area, and it is well-served by public transportation. Sights within short walking distance include: the Buda Castle, the Chain Bridge, Gresham Palace, Buda Vígadó, St. Anne’s Church, the Danube bank, Margaret Island, and Parliament.
We are an American/Hungarian couple who also live in the neighborhood, and love it, so are easily accessible for any questions or concerns.

Why the Owner Chose Budapest
The apartment is meant to be a place for visiting family to stay when they come to visit. We chose this apartment because we couldn't resist its fantastic location, the gorgeous (and quiet!) early 20th century building, and the cozy apartment itself, which has high ceilings, original parquet floors, and elegantly tall windows and doors.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Location, location, location! The apartment is situated just below the Castle district, and practically next to the Danube and the Chain Bridge. Seeing that gorgeous Danube panorama (one of Budapest's highlights) every time you walk back to the apartment is a magical feeling. And, the apartment is so ideally located that taking public transport is hardly necessary. Morning or evening walks along the Danube promenade are a must!
Owner's Map of Budapest
Carolyn (originally from Washington, DC) and Gábor (originally from Northern Hungary) fell in love with this pretty and historic neighborhood in Budapest when they moved here a few years ago. They even got married at a nearby church, and their two daughters now play at the several playgrounds in this family-friendly neighborhood. Carolyn and Gábor still live nearby, and are easily available to guests who have questions or need advice on what to do and see in Budapest. In fact, they can be excellent resources to their guests. Carolyn, a food and travel journalist who has authored two culinary guidebooks to the Budapest, can tell guests the best places to dine and drink. Together they operate Taste Hungary, a boutique culinary tourism company. They are sure that after a stay in this lovely, classic Budapest apartment, you'll fall in love with the neighborhood just as they have.

My husband and I loved the Chain Bridge apartment...situated in a beautiful old building with charm, within walking distance to everything we wanted to do and see. The apartment is nicely renovated, clean, spacious, well-equipped and quiet. The owner, Carolyn (author of two Budapest food & wine guidebooks - the books were also in the apartment and were a great resource) met us on arrival and was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again!

My friend and I stayed here for a week in September 2010. The apartment was charming from the moment we walked in~high ceilings and doors, claw foot tub, and a modern kitchen. Lots of space. The location was EXCELLENT. Walking distance to everything, just over the bridge to Pest, and the grocery store was steps from train station for added convenience. There are guide books and an info binder. Overall it was like staying at a friend's place. Also, the owners were great at communicating via e-mail to the USA before I left. I would highly recommend this apartment!!

Staying in the apartment was fantastic-- Carolyn and Gabor are both incredible. They are accommodating and kind, and a huge wealth of helpful information. The apartment was perfect-- the location was easy to get to and around the sites, the size was perfect (for even 2 couples!), and had all of the amenities we could have hoped for. Even a washing machine! Perhaps the best part though was the generosity and kindness of the hosts. We opted to take a wine tour with Gabor, which proved to be the utter highlight of our entire European trip. He is very knowledgeable, down to earth, funny, and kind. Overall, the apartment was great. It comes with a cell phone, which was invaluable, and they even covered some of the costs of using it, which was very nice. The full kitchen was awesome, and the apartment itself was in a beautiful building. It was well worth it!

The hosts were awesome and met us at the apartment. There are maps and great tour books (even kid guides for Budapest) in the apartment. The host even set up a taxi to pick us up when we had to leave. Location was the BEST!!!!! The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars all around was the fact that the apartment faced a courtyard and opening windows at night didn't give us any relief from the heat.

This apartment was great. The location cannot be beat. The block is a lovely historic block right at the base of the Chain Bridge in Buda. The apartment was immaculate and perfect for our stay. It was really everything that we hoped it would be. Carolyn and Gabor were also great hosts and helped us with recommendations of places to see, things to do, and places to eat and drink. I highly recommend the apartment and will hopefully be back soon for another stay.

The Chain Bridge Apartment was the perfect place from which to explore the city. Located in Buda, but within two blocks of the Chain Bridge to Pest, it was a quiet and comfortable place to sleep. Highly recommended! Thanks, Carolyn!

We loved our stay in the apartment and would highly recommend it. It is spacious, safe, and clean, and has a fully-equipped kitchen. Carolyn has a copy of her food and wine guide in the apartment, which is amazing and also highly recommended. We will be recommending the apartment to anyone we know that plans on traveling to Budapest!
