Stay in an environmentally responsible home with many green features. Our 8 year old home is modern, with a coastal influence, light, bright and in a wondeful location. In 2012 we have added a new additional bedroom and bathroom. This 'studio' bedroom is separated from the house by a deck. It makes a great additional space, and provides extra privacy or a quiet space if required. It is only available to rent as an addition to the main house, not separately...so if you need 4 bedrooms you can request it. The house can be rented on it's own with a MAX of 6 people, or add the studio for a MAX of 8 people.
If you have found your way to Ocracoke on vrbo I'm sure you will have read descriptions of how beautiful it is on the island, or maybe you have already visited?! On this small barrier island we all share the same space...and enjoy it's unique qualities.
This has been our year round home, and this is the fourth year it will be available for rent. It was built with exceptional care and attention to detail and with as many 'green' features as possible. We imported recycled tile from our home country of England, we have 'low flush' toilets, a modern kitchen made from renewable sourced materials with wonderful oak countertops, recycled cedar tree trunks add an unusual decorative feature, environmentally friendly paint, eco-responsible 'euro' floor, everything is energy efficient... and we made sure the windows made the most of the light and warmth.
The layout is open plan, but with distinct areas allowing a really comfortable 'flow'. There are two bedrooms upstairs with a full bathroom, a master bedroom downstairs with its own deck and full jacuzzi bathroom, and a further half bathroom downstairs with laundry facilities. We now have the additional 4th bedroom & bathroom accessed from the lower deck area if required. We have fantastic outdoor spaces to relax and soak in the atmosphere of Ocracoke. Five seperate deck areas allow you to move around taking advantage of the morning sun or evening sunsets! A new lower deck area with an outdoor fireplace (winter) has become a favourite place to chill out. We particularly love the views of trees all around us with a wonderful large open treed space adjoining our property. It's quiet but close to everything, a truly wonderful home.
The house is WiFi and has 2 HD Direct TV's.
A Kayak is provided with the house, but you use at your own risk.

- Deck/Patio : This property has 5 decks, areas that can be used together or separately giving lots of choice of where to sit! The front deck has a swing seat and Adirondack chairs and is especially lovely in the evenings. The deck leading from the master bedroom gets the morning sun and is a great place to wake up. The decks leading from the living area all have seating and tables. The screened porch has a table, chairs and hammock seat...and finally, the lower deck is great at any time of day!

New lower deck area. Modern fresh decor, but with a costal influence. We have many extras throughout the house because it has been our year round home. There are usually a few bicycles under the house (athough very old, and you use them at your own risk!), often folding chairs for the beach...and if you are lucky, an umbrella. We do not guarantee these items will be available as they are left 'on trust'...but they are usually still there!

- Pet Friendly : Please contact us if you have pets. The yard is big & grassy, and next to us is a wonderful open grassy area that dogs love to play in! We do ask that you 'pick up' after your pet or risk losing your deposit if someone else has to scoop the poop!

No-one overlooks you, the house has great space, the light and decks are a great asset.We have a huge grassy space right next door which is lovely to look at and means we always have a quiet space between us and the next house.

We moved from England to North Carolina to work at ECU in 2001. As soon as we found Ocracoke we moved so our son could attend the school and enjoy the many freedoms Ocracoke offers..and the surf! It has been the most wonderful 'home from home'. Now our son has graduated we are enjoying spending time exploring different places...but when we return to Ocracoke it rejuvenates us like no other place and always feels like home! We are now building a smaller 'eco' home and hope to be living in it full time in the spring of 2011!

Wonderful house, wonderful vacation and exceptionally helpful owners. We spent our family reunion on Ocracoke Aug 6 -12 2011 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves including our 93yr old grandma. Our family traveled from PA, VA, MD, NY and OK and rented 3 different homes. Ours was by far the best. The house had all the amenities you could possibly need. Being a Brit I do enjoy my cup of tea in the morning and did bring along my own electric kettle as I wasn't sure there would be one, my mother-in-law also enjoys a cuppa and packed her kettle. It turned out that the house had its own and we laughed at the idea that we had 3 kettles to make tea. The house was very clean and well maintained. Would love to make another trip to the island. Thank you Tony & Jules.

We so enjoyed your lovely house with its smart and eco friendly design. The dog also enjoyed the decks and rug in front of the fire. This was one of our best Thanksgivings ever and we are inspired for our next house.
