  Booked a stay at the “Penthouse in Gruene” after a reservation we had for a house on the river was canceled due to the property selling. Beth was helpful in getting my group of 12 accommodated and answering questions. Upon arrival the property was nice and the location in the heart of historic Gruene is fantastic to take advantage of all the river activities, great dining and shopping. The condo is spacious with 4 bedrooms and 4 full baths. The rooms were nicely appointed with comfortable beds as advertised. We had plenty of room for the 3 families (6 adults and 6 kiddos ranging from 2-11 years). There were a couple little things about the property that need attention though. There were broken balusters in the railing on the 3rd floor balcony and many others that were loose. That made it unsafe for the little kids to enjoy the beautiful sunset views we had without concern for their safety when near the railing. The balcony has a nice bar and TV with fans and plenty of space. The kitchen was clean and almost everything you’ll need is there (except trash bags for us). The mandatory clean up fee of $250 is excessive in my opinion when you have to take your garbage to the dumpster yourself and you’re family renters and not typical weekend partiers. I have a 4500 square foot home and it doesn’t cost $250 to clean it. The check out time is 11AM per the rental agreement and it warns of an additional charge if you’re not out by 12:30PM. On our departure day we received a text from Beth at 10:45AM that read “Are you out of the Penthouse yet?” Didn’t get a “thank you for staying”, not a “how was your stay”, just are you gone yet. This was strange as Beth was so nice leading up to our stay. We were out by 11AM. All in all the condo was as advertised, very nice and would recommend it to others if for no other reason that the convenience to so many of the things you go to Gruene and New Braunfels for.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

  The setup of the penthouse was perfectly designed to host large groups. All of the attendees were also amazed at the “extra” amenities like the outside patio and bar, X-box, pool table, TV’s, i-pod jack, surround sound, etc. I know everyone (me included) had a great time and will highly recommend the Wasser Haus & Lodge in the future.

  Each year, the Brown Family and special guests spend July 4th weekend together. In 2009 & 2010 we spent it at the beautiful Penthouse Condo in Gruene, Texas. The location and layout of the condo are exquisite, but a special event this year made the experience even better. Our reunions are not overly formal, but they are structured such that we have opening ceremonies before the weekend officially begins. It is customary to introduce the families, along with their spouses or "special friends". This year, when my niece Cari's boyfriend Travis was introduced as her special friend, he said that he was tired of being introduced as her special friend. He proceeded to lead her out to the middle of the living room, got down on one knee, and proposed to her right there in front of the entire family. There was not a dry eye in the place. By the way, she said "yes". Needless to say, our stays at the Penthouse have been life-changing.

  Great accomadations for a family. Beds were like sleeping on a cloud. The view from the patio was awesome. Beautiful of the hill country and river. Walking distance to everything. So restful, peaceful and quiet. Loved every minute. Went home so rested. Thank you so much for such a lovely place to get a way to.
