The house is just off Lourmarin, one of the most beautiful villages in all of France. Ideally located between Avignon and Aix en Provence, Lourmarin nestles in the middle of vineyards and olive trees. Enjoy the magnificent view on the Luberon, the amazing overflow pool and its expansive wooden deck.
Accommodation: the house has just been completely refurbished to the highest standards, with a subtle mix of modern and antique pieces of furniture.?This house offers 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms; a very large and fully equipped kitchen (we love cooking when we are there!); a spacious dining area with table that easily seats 10 persons; and a large living room with fireplace opening on the deck with large French windows. The view over the Luberon mountains from the sofa is so lovely, you won’t want to leave!??
This is not only a rental house, it’s the home where our extended family comes together to spend holdays and vacations. This means a lot to us as we want you to feel right at home and comfortable. Whether you just want to chill out and relax by the pool, play "petanque" at the house, check your e-mail from the deck thanks to the wifi access available throughout the house, or ride the bicycles to visit the local villages, each with their picturesque weekly market (don't miss Lourmarin's farmer's market on Friday morning!), you will have everything you need at your disposal for a memorable vacation in Provence. You can even cook your homemade pizza in the outside "Four à pizza"! ?
Location: if your idea of a perfect Provencal village includes cafes and restaurants spilling out onto the cobbled streets, then Lourmarin is the place for you. There are at least 15 restaurants and cafes to choose from, several of which are quite exceptional. Among our favorites: La Fenière, just off the village on the way to Cadenet, is a 1-Michelin star restaurant. We love it there and the cook, Reine, is just amazing! Another dining experience not to be missed is?L'Antiquaire on Rue du Grand Pré. They serve traditional fare made with light and fresh local ingredients.?Le Moulin de Lourmarin (facing the Castle): this former 2 Michelin-star restaurant has moved to Bonnieux, to the Bastide de Capelongue, which belongs to the same owners. Le Moulin de Lourmarin is now a more affordable bistro. Once you arrive at the house, you will find a detailed list of our selections of restaurants and favorite places we love in Provence.
Sites to see in Lourmarin include the 15th-16th century Castle, the Romanesque St. Andre church, a lovely campanile and some charming historic fountains. Lourmarin is nicely situated as a base for visiting all of Provence. It's in the heart of the Luberon, with Aix-en-Provence about 30 minutes to the south and Avignon 45 minutes to the west. Some lovely nearby villages along the southern edge of the Luberon are Vaugines, Ansouis, Cucuron, Cabrières d'aigues and La Motte-d'Aigues. Also very close, on the northern edge of the Luberon, are Bonnieux, Lacoste, Ménerbes (immortalized in Peter Mayle's renowned book, A Year in Provence) and Oppède. The market town of Apt is only 20 minutes away, and about 30 minutes to the Northwest is the beautiful canal town of L’Isle–sur-la-Sorgue, home to over 30 antique shops and a fabulous Sunday market that takes over the the entire town every week.?The drive north towards Bonnieux takes you through the beautiful, narrow river valley called "Combe de Lourmarin". The Luberon offers an abundance of natural wonders... you’ll want to return every year!
