Our stay was absolutely fabulous! The bride's family stayed in this house and the groom's family stayed in a house across the street. (just incase you have a lot of people, works out great to rent both) We had a chef cater the rehersal dinner here for 50 people....it went off perfectly. The guests couldn't stop talking about how beautiful the home was and the spectacular view!! It was very clean, decorated beautifully and had everything we needed and more! I would definitely come back for another visit and of course have already recommended to several of my friends and family. Loved it!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The views from this house were absolutely gorgeous, but the carpeting was badly stained, and the house needs painting. I paid half 9 mos ahead of time, but am having difficulty getting my security deposit back. I think the owner has money problems, cause he said an employee was stealing from him. It has been six weeks and I mailed my cancelled check to him but he still hasn"t sent my deposit back. You should only pay by credit card because you will be protected. He aknowledged that we left the property in perfect condition, so he should have paid us backRecommended for: Romantic getaway.
Owner response: To our horror our guest is correct about the stains, but they were a surprise to us as and seem to have appeared between cleanings. We have since taken steps to have the carpet cleaned and the source of the stains repaired. Our next guest found the house entirely satisfactory. Our guest received his deposit after an investigation. He left the house in great condition (for which we are grateful), and deserved his deposit back. In our several years of renting we have gladly returned every deposit (except for one incident where we kept less than $200 for items our guests told us they had broken). We are truly sorry for the delay. Eveery year we spend a small fortune keeping the house in good repair. We get to problems as soon as we know about them, and almost always before they can affect a guest's stay. Unfortunately that didn't happen in this case, for which we are truly sorry. On the brighter side, the stains were localized (not a result of neglect or failure to clean), and we were able to fix it.

My family has spent the most wonderful ski vacation in this luxurious home - we got 6 adults (2 couples, 1 single and 1 senior) and 2 children (12 year old and 3 year old).. Everybody just loved the place - children were screaming with excitment as soon as they stepped into the place and enjoyed the moment exploring different rooms - each of the master bedroom is like a mini luxury condo by itself, with their own unique artistic decor carefully picked by the owner. Everybody can have their spacious room with the most modernized ammenity that you can possibly dream of in a 5-star resort: hot tub, movie theatre with Blueray DVD... During daytime, the view to the lake and to the mountain range is just stunning... The place is very convenient to shops and ski lifts, you can pick up grocery and wine from near by supermarket and prepare nice family dinner for enjoyment in the sunroom. The house is close to the top of the hill (thus the speechless view), very quiet and safe neighborhood around and it has indoor garage. Owner is very friendly and helpful, the place was spotessly polished by professional cleaning crew when we got there. I will say this is the perfect place for a large family to spend their vacation and relax in the Lake Tahoe area. I have recommended this place to many of my friends - as one of those MUST-DO places in the world, if they happen to visit Lake Tahoe area. And I am definitely looking forward to staying there again...Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My family travels together every December. There are 10 of us ages from 9-67. We normally go to warm climates but everyone wanted to go skiing. I looked up on VRBO for the first time and this home was listed. We decided it would be perfect for all of us. When we arrived we couldn't believe our eyes. Amazing views of the lake and mountains from every room. The home was immaculate and was stocked with everything you might need. The beds were perfect and so comfortable. The kitchen was beautiful. Every morning we had a hugh breakfast and sat in the dining room and looked out on the beautiful lake and mountains filled with snow. The location was great. Easy to get to everything. The Owners made sure everything was perfect for our stay. They made sure the driverways were clear of snow while we were there. We had a wonderful time and will remember our stay forever. Wonderful Memories were made.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

A little late in writing this--as we stayed summer 2010--for one magnificent week . A group of 13 --17 to 85 in ages--took us the better part of an hour for our mouths to close as we marveled at the amazing view--and our spectaular surroundings--our concern over negotiating stairways for one of our group was quickly erased due to the generous steps and landings between floors --in every room the attention to detail was flawless--the kitchen was so well designed and appointed it handled all the needs of our large group --and when we had another large family over for dinner --there was seating for all -- I think our favorite room was the theater --we used each nite --this was truly a wonderful memory --my only regret is that Im too old and fat to ski anymore what a great home to ski from --hoping to stay here again -but fear these great reviews might make this dream vacation less available as more people discover this treasureRecommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The house is absolutely beautiful and well maintained however we did encounter a few unacceptable issues that were definitely dissappointing. The outside steps to the house were not kept clear of snow and had 2 people fall. There was only 1 plastic trash can liner for the kitchen for the entire 5 days and we had trash overflowing and you could not get to the outside trash cans cause they were buried in snow. There was only a partial roll of paper towels and no napkins. The downstairs toilet continually ran. I did write a separate e-mail to the owner and he responded back on his paypal account that he would raise matters with his staff.Owner response: As our guest indicated, I brought up the matters she raised with the staff because we want every stay at our home to be as good as it can be. With that in mind, it is the policy of the cleaning staff to leave several extra bags at the bottom of each trash receptacle and extra paper towels under the sink. Our housekeeper was stunned to hear that this might not have been so. As to snow: we have a contract with to have the driveway and bear-proof trash box cleared whenever there is four inches or more of snow in the driveway. I have made it very clear to the contractor that we have guests who depend on prompt service. Also, our general contractor provides someone to clear the walkway that the snowblowing equipment just can't reach. With that said, our house is on a ridge at high altitude. Snow sometimes blows in when it isn't snowing, and sometime the tremendous snowload on the roof sheds some of itself. Because of the local nature of these events, our staff doesn't always know about it when it happens, so they don't know there is a situation that needs remedying. Unlike a hotel, where staff is constantly present, a home rental requires some interaction between guests and homeowner when something needs attention. We pride ourselves on acting quickly on those rare occasions when things aren't just right. I wish that these things had not happened when LinDea stayed at our home. I also sincerely wish she had notified me when these issues arose so I could turn these into quickly resolved issues instead of unacceptable issues. We will continue to do our best, and when things aren't right, will work to make them right. Your satisfaction is truly important to us.

10 adults, one teen stayed comfortably at this lovely home in mid-Sept. 2010. Plenty of beds; bathrooms in each room, kitchen had everything you could ask for. Many of us just sat near the windows and read and chatted. We took turns sitting in the dining room facing the lake - truly tremendous views! We even opted to stay in for meals, figuring we couldn't get any better view anywhere. Kitchen is a convivial place with a bar all around so cooks can chat with onlookers. Hot tub with a view is nice feature too. Even the bath towels were nice and thick. About 7-8 minutes by car down the hill to Harrah's (but who cares?!!) Lots of stairs, so not good for disabled.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We stayed here for MLK weekend these last couple of days and I have to say this home is spectacular- the views are amazing and so roomy so no one is ever bumping into each other- it was nicely heated and never cold so we stayed cozy all three nights. Very close to the Nevada side of Heavenly so we didn't have to drive far- kitchen fully stocked with everything we needed and home had enough towels and blankets to use- thank you for such a wonderful experience and will definitely recommend it to anyone who wishes to stay in tahoe.Did you find this review helpful? 01/5/2010 We just got home from a week long stay in this beautiful home. We had 14 people, ages 2-67. There was plenty of room and plenty to do. The hot tub was the most frequented room in the house, before and after the mountain! The kitchen is incredible! It is so obvious this homeowner went above and beyond to make guests comfortable. All the extra's you can think of. We have been skiing all over the country, and this was without a doubt the most beautiful views I have ever seen! The owners were very responsive to our needs and great to work with through the whole process! Definately my highest recommendation yet from all the homes we've rented. Hope to return soon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: Michael has lived in Tahoe since 1992. Marsha joined him from Australia in 1997. We have three lovely children who love Tahoe and all the area and the house have to offer.
Why the Owner Chose Heavenly Valley:
This was originally our home, not a vacation rental. However, for the next few years Marsha is pursuing her medical residency out-of-town, so we have made the house available to others.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love watching the storms roll in from across the lake, hanging out together in the hot tub, and watching movies in the theater. We also love seeing the stars on a clear night. Most of all, we love being home.
