Thanksgiving at Smugglers Notch
Thanksgiving at Smugglers Notch

My family had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration at Smugglers. The house was perfect: clean, roomy and comfortable with a well-appointed kitchen and living/dining space. Karen, the owner, was responsive and flexible. The secluded, quiet setting is true Vermont: high on a ridge overlooking Smuggler's Notch ski area, surrounded by trees. We will rent again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We had a great weekend in this nice and perfectly located house - just a five to ten minute drive to the Smuggler's Notch parking lot. Communication with the owners was nice and easy as were the financial transactions. We arrived quite late in the evening so that is was already dark and we really appreciated that Karen had left the outside light on for us. The three bedrooms were very comfortable, the two bathrooms convenient and the kitchen very well equipped. Also we are very greatful that Karen mailed some items we had left behind. We definitely want to be back next season!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is the perfect location for a winter holiday! We had planned a skiing trip at Smugglers Notch and lucked out finding Karen's perfect mountainside house! It is big and beautifully kept! The pictures look great, but don't do it justice! The view from the master bedroom is amazing in the morning - the sun rises over the mountains! We would strongly recommend this property for anyone planning a vacation in this area. We loved our stay!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We enjoyed staying at the house on top of the mountain! It's a great location. Thehouse was very comfortable and Karen was helpful during our stay with anything we needed. We happened to stay during hurricane Irene and still had fun exploring the area. We hope to be able to come back during ski season. I'd recommend the property without any reservations!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Coming from Florida, we were looking for a respite from the heat, an opportunity to commune with nature, and a chance to explore the unique offerings of the area. This home on Sweeney Lane was the perfect headquarters to do it all. The home was secluded but not isolated; it was nestled amid the many trees on the mountainside. We were awakened each morning by the joyful songs of the many birds that call this forest home. The accommodations for our party of four single adults were excellent. The upstairs bedrooms were spacious and well-appointed; the downstairs living area was roomy and comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied with the requisite dishes, utensils, etc. and it was well stocked with condiments and staple cooking supplies. This was a pleasant surprise, having stayed at other rentals where the larder was indeed quite sparse. The grill and deck were definite assets to this lovely home--we used both with some regularity during our stay. The geographic location of our mountain getaway was perfect. We are able to easily travel back to the many hiking areas along the Notch as well as to the Stowe area. This allowed us to enjoy the touristy aspects of the area and yet we could easily retreat back to a more serene environment in the evening. We also traveled to the opposite side of the notch and beyond. The small grocery in Jeffersonville became a frequent stop for us; it was quite well supplied for its size and was reasonably priced . We enjoyed the food and ambiance at El Zorro Restaurant and Three Mountain Lodge--both quite close to our home. Other tourist activities we enjoyed were the Trapp Family Lodge (walking tour), the Stowe Farmers' Market, Boyden Valley Winery, and in Burlington, the Magic Hat Brewery Tour and the Lake Champlain Boat Tour. We would highly recommend a summer vacation in this beautiful part of Vermont and wholeheartedly endorse the accommodations of this beautiful Alpine home on Sweeney Lane.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
