Perfect location for Smuggs lovers

Guest: Claudia (Upstate New York)
Date of Stay: 03/09/12 Review Submitted: 03/18/12

We had a great weekend in this nice and perfectly located house - just a five to ten minute drive to the Smuggler's Notch parking lot. Communication with the owners was nice and easy as were the financial transactions. We arrived quite late in the evening so that is was already dark and we really appreciated that Karen had left the outside light on for us. The three bedrooms were very comfortable, the two bathrooms convenient and the kitchen very well equipped. Also we are very greatful that Karen mailed some items we had left behind. We definitely want to be back next season!

Great winter holiday location!!!

This is the perfect location for a winter holiday! We had planned a skiing trip at Smugglers Notch and lucked out finding Karen's perfect mountainside house! It is big and beautifully kept! The pictures look great, but don't do it justice! The view from the master bedroom is amazing in the morning - the sun rises over the mountains! We would strongly recommend this property for anyone planning a vacation in this area. We loved our stay!!

We had a great vacation even though the snow didn't cooperate like we wanted but overall it was a great location and an awsome home, we did find a place to zipline and that is a must do. Don't hesitate to rent this home. 12/20/2011

Owner response:Thank you Mike! We hope you and your family come and visit us again on 144 Sweeney Lane! Have a Happy New Year!

We enjoyed staying at the house on top of the mountain! It's a great location. Thehouse was very comfortable and Karen was helpful during our stay with anything we needed. We happened to stay during hurricane Irene and still had fun exploring the area. We hope to be able to come back during ski season. I'd recommend the property without any reservations!!

Great Place to Get Away From It All!

Guest: Claire (Virginia)
Date of Stay: 08/13/11 Review Submitted: 08/28/11

We just returned from a wonderful vacation stay on Sweeney Lane. The home is beautiful, clean, spacious, well-equipped and cozy! There is so much to do in the area. We spent most of the time hiking in the Stowe area, but there are many other attractions that we visited (Trapp Family Lodge, Burlington, Ben & Jerry's, Green Mountain Coffee). After a long day of hiking, we looked forward to coming back to this lovely home for an evening of relaxation. We have such fond memories of this vacation and would recommend it to anyone looking for an ideal vacation retreat.

A Perfect Choice

Date of Stay: 08/02/11 Review Submitted: 08/31/11

Coming from Florida, we were looking for a respite from the heat, an opportunity to commune with nature, and a chance to explore the unique offerings of the area. This home on Sweeney Lane was the perfect headquarters to do it all. The home was secluded but not isolated; it was nestled amid the many trees on the mountainside. We were awakened each morning by the joyful songs of the many birds that call this forest home. The accommodations for our party of four single adults were excellent. The upstairs bedrooms were spacious and well-appointed; the downstairs living area was roomy and comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied with the requisite dishes, utensils, etc. and it was well stocked with condiments and staple cooking supplies. This was a pleasant surprise, having stayed at other rentals where the larder was indeed quite sparse. The grill and deck were definite assets to this lovely home--we used both with some regularity during our stay. The geographic location of our mountain getaway was perfect. We are able to easily travel back to the many hiking areas along the Notch as well as to the Stowe area. This allowed us to enjoy the touristy aspects of the area and yet we could easily retreat back to a more serene environment in the evening. We also traveled to the opposite side of the notch and beyond. The small grocery in Jeffersonville became a frequent stop for us; it was quite well supplied for its size and was reasonably priced . We enjoyed the food and ambiance at El Zorro Restaurant and Three Mountain Lodge--both quite close to our home. Other tourist activities we enjoyed were the Trapp Family Lodge (walking tour), the Stowe Farmers' Market, Boyden Valley Winery, and in Burlington, the Magic Hat Brewery Tour and the Lake Champlain Boat Tour. We would highly recommend a summer vacation in this beautiful part of Vermont and wholeheartedly endorse the accommodations of this beautiful Alpine home on Sweeney Lane.

Owner response:Thank you Gale for your amazing review! I am so pleased you and your friends enjoyed your trip to Vermont! It is a special place!

Unbelievable Experience

Date of Stay: 01/13/11 Review Submitted: 01/21/11

This home is so well kept, very modern, and incredibley spacious. I just spent MLK weekend up here with my girlfriend and some friends. I have been to my share of winter rental homes and this is by FAR the best and cleanest house i have stayed in! I cant begin to tell you how beautiful the views are and most of Smugglers Notch cant be seen from all the bedroom windows. The people that own the home are so very gracious and very cooperative. The conditions were amazing everyday. It was truly an unbelievable experience. My friends and I cannot wait to come back again next year to shred up that mountain! one side note: a 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. although they do a great job plowing, the roads are steep and windy.

My wife and three teenagers had a great ski week and really enjoyed staying in this home. It is furnished and decorated like a home; not a rental. Everything was top notch, clean, and spacious. Excellent location with nice views.

Owner response:Happy New Year Paul and family! Thank you for your positive comments. We are so glad that you all enjoyed our home and had such a wonderful experience here on Sweeney Lane. Keep us in mind for your future trips to Vermont! My Best, Karen

Our winter home away from home

Date of Stay: 12/19/10 Review Submitted: 12/29/10

Thank you very much for a wonderful vacation at your home in Smugglers. From the minute we opened the door, we felt right at home. The house was exceptionally clean, warm, cozy and comfortable. Everything was in perfect working condition. Our kids loved their rooms and were amazed at how nice and big the master bedroom was! Having our dog with us was wonderful--she loved running around in the snow and watching over the kids as they played outside. The proximity to Smugglers was just perfect--we could ski all morning, have lunch, run back to take the dog for a fun walk in the snow, have a few afternoon runs down the slopes back at Smugglers and pick the kids up from ski school. It was perfect. We took a day off from skiing and toured Ben and Jerry's!! All in all, we had a wonderful time and would recommend this home to anyone looking for a great "home away from home."

Owner response:Beth, we are so pleased you and your family had such a wonderful vacation and enjoyed your stay in our home. We hope you will come visit us again. Happy New Year! Warm regards- Karen

Thanks for a wonderful weekend in the mountains, Pete & Karen. The house is beautifully decorated in a gorgeous setting. Everything you might need was right there. The house was clean and the owners were helpful with any questions. Very close to the ski area with many winter activities. I'm sure it would be just as wonderful in the summer time.

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend after Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful time. The home is beautiful, clean, and as good, if not better, than billed. At the top of the hill, so very private and quiet. Close to hiking, skiing, Burlington, and tons of Vermont attractions. Plenty to do nearby, or just stay at the house and relax. Owners very responsive but not intrusive. Would recommend these rental to anyone and would stay there again.

Owner response:Mike, Thank you for your kind words! So much appreciated! Look forward to future visits! Happy New Year My best, Karen

The pictures posted on the website do not do this home justice--it is absolutely beautiful and far better furnished (and cleaner!) than our own home. the kitchen is very well-equipped. The home sleeps 6 extremely comfortably--note that the pull-out couch (for 2 more) is in the master bedroom. My husband and I loved retreating to the master suite while the teenagers ruled the TV downstairs. Gorgeous deck and gorgeous grounds. Advise AWD/snow tires during snow season as the road is steep. Ski hill is a very short drive away. I would love to return during the summer to view the incredible scenery some more. Great location for a family holiday!

We loved this house. We travel often and have to say this was one of the cleanest homes we have ever rented. Karen is wonderful to work with. Everything was thought of and wonderful. The house is beautiful and if we were to own a home in the Stowe area it would be one exactly like this. Thanks so much!

We really enjoyed our stay here and ended up staying an extra night(would have stayed two if it had been available). The bedrooms were attractive and the kitchen/family room was a perfect space for games, puzzles, TV and eating. I especially loved the radiant heated floors when you walked in on a cold day! We will definitely try to get back next winter: with snow tires!

The first thing I notices about the home was how well designed the floor plan was....a gourmet kitchen with a big island that allows for great conversation while cooking, a dining room table that accomodates 6 - 8 people, and a large living area to watch tv and play board games. All accented by airtight, large windows overlooking the outdoors. A perfect setting. The mud room keeps things neat and the bedrooms ware SO comfy, especially the spacious master bedroom. A perfect mountain getaway.
