The apartment is exactly as pictured! We visitied Montreal for a long weekend and wanted to stay in a place that provided all the comforts of home, and we were not disappointed. The apartment was tastefully decorated, well equipped, super clean, quiet, safe. And close enough to the metro, the Atwater market, a grocery store, restaurants, and other interesting sights recommended by John and Jane--we did not have to use our car at all during our time in Montreal! Hope to return with some friends next time!

Two of us spent a week at Gallery #1 apartment, where we found cooking, sleeping and washing/drying set-ups to be far above average. Kitchen facility is superb. The proprietors were most amiable, answering the few queries we'd posed. The big draw with the location is, no surprise, the Atwater Market. It's splendiferous! We have spread the word on this one. It's a find!
Owner response:I agree 100%. it's great to see someone who loves this area as much as Jane and I! Please come again!

Nous avons adoré notre séjour de 3 nuits à St-Henri. Ce fut une belle découverte pour nous, de passage de Vancouver. We strongly recommend this lovely appartment and this neighbourhood. Comfortable, fully renovated, roomy, clean and tastefully decorated. We cannot wait to try it during the summer. Walking distance from metro, the canal Lachine, Griffintown and Old Montreal. Lovely! This is a perfect nest away from home. Merci Jane & John!

The Gallery 1 was perfect for our needs. The apartment is virtually brand new, very clean and well maintained making it very practical and comfortable. The space is actually larger than shown by the photos and videos. The owners live next door and are very friendly and helpful. The location is ideal - short walk to Metro and shops. Parking is also easy as needed. Overall - excellent value for money.

Some friends and I stayed in this apartment for 5 days while we were in town for a conference. The apartment was comfortable and extremely clean, and John and Jane provided lots of helpful tips. It's very close to the metro and within walking distance of a supermarket, coffee shops, and a bunch of restaurants. This was great value for money.

Thanks John and Jane...staying at your apartment helped make our visit to Montreal amazing. The apartment is lovely, so spacious, immaculate and beautifully decorated. It's well stocked with everything we needed and we really appreciated the information about the community, transportation and of course, restaurants. We enjoyed our walks in the area, especially to Atwater Market...what a jewel! We are looking very forward to our next visit to see our daughter, and to a lengthier stay at The Gallery.

I enjoyed the quiet neighbourhood with proximity to the metro, atwater mkt., and lachine canal. The apartment was spotless and well-appointed. The bed very comfortable and the washroom had a lovely deep tub for a relaxing bath and excellent water pressure for a shower. There is a sm. convenience store across the street. The owners are accommodating and gracious hosts. I would recommend this spot outside of the city centre for a relaxing location to explore Montreal. One item to note: can easily hear the tenants upstairs.

Apartment is "exactly" the same as photos on the web site. We really enjoyed our week in Montreal. Metro and grocery store were only a few minutes walk from the apt. Atwater Market was well worth the short trip - we went several times. John and Jane answered all our questions as to what to see and the "best" way to get there. Jane is a wonderful artist - be sure to ask to see her work if you are interested in art. Yes, we would stay again at the apt. if we return to Montreal.

My family (15 persons total) came from overseas for my wedding in October, and we rented all 3 apartments (Galleries 1, 2, 3) for 10 days (Gallery 2 & 3) to 3 weeks (Gallery 1). Everyone was really comfortable, and really loved staying together while having the option for privacy (their rooms / floor) when needed. The place was really very well-equiped and very clean, and the beds were also very comfortable. We even had a family BBQ on the 2nd floor roof-top terrasse one evening. Everyone enjoyed staying there very much. The only down-side is the steepish flight of stairs to go to the 3rd floor, because we had some elderly relatives with us. But it was still manageable if one is careful. The neighborhood is quiet, and feels very safe. And it really is very near to the supermarket (IGA; approx. 8 min walk), especially when we needed to do some last-minute grocery shopping. The walk to the subway (metro) is also very quick (~8min), so going to downtown Montreal is also very convenient. Thank you John & Jane for being very helpful!

Had a fantastic stay, hard to add anything more to all the positive reviews already written. Very clean, bright, comfortable. Convenient location, 2 minute easy walk to Metro, 4 minute walk to coffee shops, 3 minute walk well stocked Supermarket (IGA). 3 minute walk to LaChine canal ( very pleasant ) which gets you to Atwater Market along the river ( a must do ) lots of restaurants nearby but the metro zips you anywhere your stomach fancies with the plethora of restaurants in Montreal. The owners, John & Jane were very friendly and helpful with information. The apt. Was well stocked with information, maps, pamphlets, transportation U( and we loved the complimentary Montreal bagels) This apt. Is highly highly recommended. the complimentary bagels (anyone who hasn't had bagels from Montreal never tasted a true bagel, all others are just a variation of bread)). The apt. has well stocked pamphlets, maps and info for Montreal and surrounding areas. Highly highly recommended.

We had a really great time in Montreal and our accommodations were excellent! The location of the apartment and short walk to the metro do make it ideal. Jane and John were very helpful and available- right next door. The apartment was just as beautiful as pictured on-line, but you really need to see it- it was spotless, historically attractive yet modern amenities (although a dishwasher would be a great addition for people on vacation.) The surrounding area took a little getting used to- I would describe it as up and coming. Although you spot much graffiti, there is a lot of new construction going on (homes/stores/parks) indicating growth. Another fantastic spot is the Atwater Market and canal, also within walking distance or a very short drive. And of course, Old Montreal itself is literally straight down the road by car, or a few stops on the metro. It was very easy to figure out the metro and within less than a day we were pros and on our way to enjoying the sites, sounds and flavor of Old Montreal! The description of the apartment and it's proximity to the sites around it were dead-on. Thank you again, to our lovely hosts. I would definitely recommend them and their accommodations!

A friend and I stayed at John and Jane's great apartment over the weekend and loved it!!!!! This was our first visit to the city and John and Jane provided a great home base for us. The apartment is very very clean and super comfortable: it is within walking distance from the Atwater market, old Montreal, and the metro so you can travel with ease around the whole city. John and Jane provide plenty of info on the city and are very willing to help/answer any questions you might have. Also the bagels they give you at check in are AMAZING and are a great touch to a wonderful experience. I would recommend this place and will defaintly stay here again.

The apartment was clean and well-appointed for our family of three for a three night trip. Our bed was very comfortable. The kitchen is good for simple meals. The bathroom really is very attractive...and (when we redo our ugly bathroom back home) I think I'm going to buy a bathtub just like the one installed here. The washer and dryer are first class. The neighborhood has several restaurants to try, and a supermarket within an easy walk. In addition, the Atwater Market is a 10 minute walk. The Metro is about 5 minutes away, and it makes Montreal very accessible. We brought our fancy bicycles (as we do where ever we go), and our roller skates. Glad we did! The Lachine Canal is a blast, and only seconds away to the south. We used the garage entrance quite a bit, and the bikes were very safe. On the street out in front of the apartment, we parked our car and just hung up the key. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Apartment was totally renovated and gorgeous. The listing photos do not do the apartment justice. Wait til you see it. Would recommend to friends and family. Hosts were friendly and had all information we needed literally at their fingetips, supplying their own visitor's guide, and a ride on the metro. Welcoming bagels and creme cheese were the cherry on top of a beautifully and comfortably furnished apartment. Luxurious bath towels in a well stocked large bathroom and a well equipped kitchen made for a lovely stay. Nearby the corner grocer as well as the supermarket , two blocks away ,served all our needs. The metro ,two blocks away, was excellent and cheap as the card can be used on trains and buses. The laundry room was well equipt as well. We will definitely be back. In particular we love the archeological museum, have lunch there the chief is outstanding, Gourmet experience for relatively little money. Food in all restaurants expensive compared to new jersey. Fondue Mentale on St Denis excellent retaurant accommodated 12 adults and two small children beautifully. Also very nice for couples. Montreal Poutine, I know the spelling is all wrong, located on St.Paul, in old town had the best ,french fries with gravy and cheese. A unique Quebec comfort food. You can have chili, vegetables etc. on top of them too. Notre Dame Cathedral was beautiful, admission of 5 dollars includes a 20 minute talk and tour. Science museum outstanding. Cannot say enough for thr city and its people.

My wife and I stayed for 3 days in mid-February. John and Jane are gracious hosts. The place is very clean and appears just as in the photos. The wood floors are beautiful and the bed is extremely comfortable. Unfortunately it is situated near the wall on one side with some wall art placed such that I bumped my head on it getting in and out of bed (and there is no night table on that side). The apartment is awkwardly laid out in spots, and we had to move furniture to be able to see the TV without straining. The hosts provide lots of movies to watch at no charge. The neighborhood is absolutely wonderful and charming, and the subway is a short 4 blocks away. Atwater Market is about a 15 minute walk, and was where we ate many of our meals, sipped coffee, and bought groceries for cooking. John provided lots of suggests vis a vis places to go, nearby cafes, etc. He is very approachable and winning. The kitchen is beautiful, however cooking staples were in short supply, so even for a short stay you'll have to bring your own butter, spices, cooking oil, condiments, coffee (they have some instant on hand for emergencies), etc. if you're planning on using the kitchen. Two large markets are close by for this. There are several Teflon pots and pans to use, but the Teflon is scratched and flaking, which is not ideal to cook on for health reasons. John and Jane provide a dozen delicious fresh bagels to every client. The bathroom is nicely done and the tub is huge and lovely for soaking. The main reason for 3 stars instead of 4 is that on the last day of our stay (checkout being 11am), we felt rushed out beginning at 10:45 by our hosts who wanted to ensure we were out of the apartment so they could clean. It put a damper on our otherwise very fond experience.
Owner response:First time that we ever get 3 on 5 stars, you are hard markers. The check out time is stated as 11am and we try to accomodate quests who ask for a late checkout but on that day we had other guests arriving at 3pm so we had to respect the rules because it takes 3 hours to clean the apartment. I hope we see you again, we'll earn the extra 2 stars!

During our recent trip to Montreal to see our new granddaughter, we had a wonderful stay at your apartment at 4288 Rue Tourville. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean, spacious, modern, well equipped and tastefully decorated it was. And the extra touches such as wireless internet, high definition television selections, movies, books, games etc. were an added and unexpected bonus. Oh yes, and the fresh bagels on arrival were a delicious touch! We highly recommend it to others as a very economical and comfortable ‘home away from home’.

The two of us returned to this wonderful place for a New Year's week's vacation. It felt like we were coming home. This apartment is very comfortable and all of the appointments are of superior quality. John recommended an excellent restaurant for New Year's. The local eating establishments are well-documented in the apartment guide book and all excellent. This time, we took full advantage of the Atwater Market and hosted family dinners for our Montreal family. All our kitchen needs - utensils and cooking items were provided in the kitchen. Again, the location made the city easy access by car or Metro. We are planning another trip very soon. Thanks Jane and John for having this quality space available for travellers.

My husband & I spent 4 nights in the Gallery apartment and found it all as advertised & more. The apartment was very well appointed, spotlessly clean and decorated with interesting art. The location one block from the subway station and from a supermarket was quite convenient. Then, a short walk to the Lachine Canal and to bustling Atwater Market is a must. It is not in the heart of the city, which means it is blessedly quiet, but it is easy to get to anywhere you want to go.

The property owners were very helpful and hospitable. The apartment is beautifully remodeled and decorated. The location was probably the best feature. It is walking distance from a number of good restaurants and the Atwater Market. The Market is one of the best we have experienced. If you bicycle it is only a couple of blocks to get on the Lachine Canal bike path. From there you can access unlimited bicycle paths. While we did not use the Metro, it is accessible only a short walk from the apartment.

This condo was certainly the most well appointed vrbo condo we have stayed at. The appliances were two notches higher in quality than the norm, the linens and towels were conspicuously fine, the apartment is very tastefully decorated, and was immaculately clean. John and Jane are welcoming, hospitable hosts who manage to remain unobtrusive. They clearly have put a lot of thought and effort into their property, and accommodating their guests. We greatly appreciated the fresh bagels and cream cheese awaiting us, especially as we arrived late in the evening, hungry, tired and disoriented. They also offer a hefty library of dvd's in the unit. The property is conveniently located for easy Metro and car access, and is walkable to grocery and restaurants. My only disappointment was that the area, Little Burgundy, is perhaps a little gritty - up and coming, but in the early stages. We are a couple travelling with our 5 year old son, and we never felt in any danger, but the neighbourhood was somewhat at odds with the graciousness of our hosts and their apartment. Nonetheless, I would be happy to stay there again. I strongly recommend this property.

We stayed in this apartment for a week, utilizing the pullout couch, an extra cot, and the bedroom, we were able to comfortably fit 2 children and 3 adults. The apartment is very well kept and the owners are friendly and helpful. An extra convenience was the metro cards that were available to use for the week (adding your own fares to them). The metro is very convenient, a few blocks away, and we did most of our travel in that way, since parking was easy and available near the apartment. There is also a grocery store in walking distance. The description was accurate on the website. I highly recommend the apartment -- and the bagels they left us as a welcome our first day were delicious!

We recently returned from a delightful stay at the Gallery 1 Apartment. From the timely responses to our initial inquiries 'till we reluctantly departed, everything was first rate. WHAT WE LOVED: Floor Plan-Open & Airy, Room to Move-Spacious, Decor-Tasteful w/ Eclectic Accoutrements, Location-Minutes to Everything, Price-Fair & Affordable, Complimentary Bagels-A Sweet Surprise, The Book-Great Suggestions for Food (we frequented Atwater Market, John's for a quick Cup o' Joe) & Fun (eg, the Walking Path Maps & strolling through the Montreal Botanical Garden), The Bikes-Cruising down the Canal, The Extras-Ambiance & All (satellite radio, DVDs, guide books, security system, quality bath towels & bed linens, everything...& the kitchen sink), The Hosts-the Ultimate in managing every detail with Gracious Hospitality, The Overall Experience-Consummate! WHAT WE DISLOVED: We didn't quite get around to using the deck...yet. ;D
Owner response:I guess you'll have to come back again and try out the deck and visit our rooftop garden too. Thanks!

We were thrilled how clean, neat and comfortable the apartment was. The photos featured are exactly like the apartment itself. Montreal is a great city to explore and with the wonderful markets like Atwater you should want a kitchen available... a place to pull together your wonderful market finds. The access to the bike path is even better than expected. The bagels were outstanding!
Owner response:Thanks for the nice comments we hope to see you again and we'll earn that 5th star! Cheers, John & Jane

This is a neat, clean, and modernized apartment with plenty of room, about a 5 minute walk to the Métro on the Orange Line, which will whisk you to the faubourg Ste-Catherine, Vieux Montréal, rue St-Denis, the Plateau. We walked to Ste-Catherine and Crescent (area with old architecture, restaurants and sidewalk cafés/bars, shopping) in about 25 minutes, easily. Around the corner from the apt. is a good coffee shop/deli with reasonable prices, a place we went for cappucinos, and a number of other neighbourhood eateries and an IGA within a 5 minute walk. The area is quiet and safe; we were out many nights after midnight and felt secure walking to the apartment from the métro. There is some interesting architecture (old houses) in the area (we took a short walk around to look) and the Lachine Canal and biking/walking trail, which we did not have time to use - we spent our time downtown, walking around, eating and drinking, and visiting the great churches and museums. The apartment has all you need; it would be great for a family. We stayed 10 nights and had nothing but a positive experience. With the assistance of the owner, you can buy cheap métro tickets (about $2 each), a good idea for getting into and around the centre.

We travel to Montreal quite frequently for short visits, but in May decided to have a longer stay. We spent the better part of a month in this fabulous condo. Everything was quite delightful, most especially our gracious hosts. We had planned to park our car and just leave it, given the great proximity to Montreal's sparkling subway system, but we were pleasantly surprised to find the on-sreet parking convenient and available so we took advantage of both public transit and use of the car. The condo was lovely, gracious, and well appointed. The neighbourhood is a fascinating mix of old and under-renewal housing. We had the advantage of knowing our way around Montreal so we were familiar with the neighbourhood in advance. Although you are not right downtown, do not be cautious about staying in this great older neighbourhood. So much is nearby, access to the subway is very close, and from there you are just a few moments from the centre of Montreal. You can bike or hike the Lachine canal a four minute walk from the door. We also used the Atwater Market and plentiful nearby shopping to buy groceries and wine. I must add that the recommendations provided by our hosts for neighbourhood restaurants were bang on and exposed us to some fine little jewels that we would not have likely found on our own. The outdoor deck with a barbecue became a favourite place for a drink, a read, or an outdoor dinner with friends. A great condo, gracious hosts, impeccably clean, super convenient for accessing the great city of Montreal, and a fabulous renovation of a great old building. A fine recipe for a great time! We will be back very soon.

The flat was of exceptionally high standard. Metro a few minutes walk away, giving easy access downtown. Large supermarket nearby. John very helpful, lots of useful suggestions in his booklet. Opus card supplied which is easily topped up at Metro station. Safe area. John even supplies delicious bagels.

We are so pleased to provide our recommendation for this lovely Gallery 1 apartment which we enjoyed for the month of May as our personal pied a terre in Montreal. The photos and video were spot on and helpful. Yet, still there was a "wow" reaction when we stepped into the apartment on arrival. The very central location allowed us easy access to the attractions at Atwater Market ( great coffee and croissants) along with numerous stalls and shops to satisfy all cooks and foodies. The nearby subway stop/s and bicycle paths offered a pleasant alternative to driving and made our many outings that much more relaxing. And speaking of relaxing, the apartment's kitchen is fully equipped and with access to the BBQ on the upper terrace, we were able to invite family and friends on a number of occasions. And they too were impressed by the features, facilities and ideal location of Gallery1. John and Jane have done a terrific job to ensure that guests feel at home and those Montreal bagels on arrival were very much appreciated . They've put thought and effort into anticipating peoples' needs and we thank them for their helpfulness and prompt response anytime we called them. We really do look forward to our next trip and would make this property our first choice. And incidentally, for a great coffee and the biggest biscotti I've ever had, take a walk to the coffee shop just east of Atwater on Notre Dame and if you'd like a great meal paired with just the right wine, try "Tuck Shop" just a walk away on 4662 rue Notre Dame West. Till the next time.

On our recent trip to Montreal we spent three nights at John and Jane's single bedroom rental. The apartment was exactly as presented in the photos and description. Beautifully decorated, very functional, immaculately clean, and well-stocked with essentials. The Metro is conventiently located only a short, interesting walk away. The subway was clean, easy to navigate and took us near all of the attractions we wanted to see. We particularly enjoyed Atwater Market (15 minute walk) both for purchasing neat food products and just looking. John and Jane were wonderful hosts, available for our numerous questions and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. Our 10 year old grandson particularly enjoyed the Science Museum and Imax theatre where we spent almost an entire day. We also visited Chinatown and Old Montreal. It proved valuable to us to do some reading on the history of Old Montreal before our visit. We also went to the Butterfly Exhibit (hundreds if not thousands of butterflies flying free) at the Botancial Gardens. It was quite an experience. We would certainly recommend John and Jane's rental to family and friends. When we again go to Montreal there is no question we will again stay at their place.
