Red Feather - Views and Experiences You Will Never Forget!
Year Purchased: 2007
Why the Owner Chose Banner Elk
When we were driving Scenic Hwy 194, we happened upon a real estate sign. The road and surrounding farmland was so beautiful. Even though there are neighbors you wouldn't know it when your sitting on the front deck. We are only 5 minutes either direction to Banner Elk or Valle Crusis. Hiking trails right out the front door! Only 20 minutes to Boone and 30 minutes to Blowing rock.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We make sure to have fresh flowers waiting for your on your arrival. In the Spring the Humming bird feeders will be loaded and ready to go. The Hummingbird Ballet is a wonderful, exciting experience. Never a dull moment the observer will see something different most every day. One day I woke to see a Palleted Woodpecker from the deck, I'm not a bird watcher but this was a wood pecker about 10 times the size of a normal woodpecker! Came to find out they are an endangered species and very rare sighting. You will definitely get reconnected with nature at Red Feather, your troubles will seem small in comparison to the vastness and beauty that surrounds you.

We purchased this home just a few years ago. We didn't look at any other properties, once we saw the view and felt the special ambiance of this home, we knew this was it! Something about this place is special, you can feel it the minute you drive on the property. We named it Red Feather because it seems that the Indians may have blessed this land, It's soft on the soul like a feather and warms your blood giving you renewed life and vitality thus....Red Feather.
This is a second home for us, we live in Miami and can't make it to Red Feather often enough! We are both in the Real Estate business for well over 20 years.
My husband Charlie loves to cook, so the kitchen at Red Feather is well equipped. I am in charge of ambiance and have an eye for detail. We have left many of our personal touches in this cabin and trust that you will enjoy and take care of them as if they were your own. This is the kind of place you come to reconnect with those you care about...a place to talk...experience...love...and find peace.
We hope you come visit our special place, we would like for you to consider it yours and come as often as life will allow.

We feed the deers every night, we were kind of sad the 3 day beacuse thought that it wouldnt snow but suddenly started to snow and we even build a little snow man and we even use the snow sleigh it was really fun the candy store around the area was amazing I really recommend this place.

As soon as we got to Red Feather, we immediately felt as if we were home – even thought we had never been there before! The house itself is open and bright with lots of windows and gorgeous views. From the second floor deck you can see forever mountain views of the Blue Ridge - and finally fully understand why it is called the "blue" ridge - the range literally lays down in a hundred shades of blue. There were four adults in our party and the house had plenty of room for us, plus room to spare – and I can’t tell you how happy everyone was to have their own private bathroom and shower! Having the full kitchen was nice – although we didn’t cook much – hey we were on vacation! There are some great restaurants in the nearby town of Banner Elk – and we were able to catch a really great arts/crafts show too. There are also tons of hiking trails right there. We drove over to Grandfather Mountain and explored, crossed the mile-high swinging bridge and everything. We also stocked up on sweets at the Mast General Store in Valle Crucis. At night we turned out all the house lights and sat on the deck staring up into the star-filled sky. In the morning we reconvened on the deck for hot coffee, hummingbird watching and marveling at how quiet it was. We spent most of our last day at Red Feather discussing all that we would do when we came back next year and wondered how much it would be if we wanted to buy the place! It was that good – definitely the kind of place you want to return to again and again.

As evening turns to night, we're all felling a bit meloncholy about leaving. Eah of us tryly wishes we could stay forevery - but reality calls. The mountains in the distance turned a deep blue this evening. The name "Blue Ridge" makes all the sense in the world. Surely this is one of nature's greatest achievements. After months of excited anticipation and planning we are Red Feather is all we imangined....all our expectations...this place is so much MORE! Georgee' and Charlie - we can't thank you enough. These days have truly been a gift. OUr memories of this time spent together in this wonderful place will last all of our lives. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

This past week has been everything we wanted and more! Although we orginally were going to be a big group I'm truly happy it ended up just the five of us. Something about the Carolina mountains that unites a family and removes you from the craziness of "city" life. The kids really enjoyed roaming the grounds of Red Feather. We sat every night as a family and watched all sorts of birds, butterflies and humming birds. The feeders are a great touch! We also had chipmunks and a ground hog welcome us to their home. Thanks again for a wonderful experience your home is full of love and so much more!

I had an amazing time in this home away from home. My favorite part was just gazing at the trees. OUr hike to Grand Father Mountain was exhilirating and challanging. OUr hike through Boon Fork was beautful looking up at the yellow trees watching them fall rythmically, wung to my soul. Being at Red Feather is like living in a painting, on a canvas amongst the oranges and gold. Love and Peace, take care of our house and continue to fill it with good memories.

The Red Feather was everything we imagined and more. We stayed for 5 days and had a blast! You will not be disappointed by choosing this home. We had 2 families that slept very comfortably, we cooked meals each night, played guitar by the fireplace, the kids played card games, and we were 10 minutes from the base of Sugar and Beech Mountains. We had the conveniences of a full kitchen, washer/dryer, privacy, great trails and slopes to ride down on sleds; we saw deer and lots of wildlife at the actual home, not to mention the view of the mountains. I could not imagine staying anywhere else. When arriving, I would recommend coming through Banner Elk it is an easy drive up the mountain. We created so many memories that will last forever! We are already talking about our next trip to the Red Feather....we hope you enjoy!
Owner response:Racquel, We are happy you and your family found our home to be everything you had hoped for. We enjoyed having you and look forward to seeing you again soon. Charlie and Georgee'
