We stayed at the SS Minnow for a week over Thanksgiving 2011, with my husband and 2 children. Home was like new and very well kept. Good view from Master Bedroom deck but not living room deck. Very nice pool area, plenty of parking. New TV's were in the Master and Living Room for the week we arrived which were an added bonus. Short walk to the beach and close to restaurants. We especially liked "Fire" and "Stinky's". Highly recommend, we will be back!

August - 2011 Stay at S.S. Minnow

Very nice place. We had hoped for a better view - it's just hard to tell from pictures what you're gonna have 'till you get there. The beds were very comfortable, it was clean and had most things in the kitchen that you would need. In the master bedroom the bi-fold closet door fell over on me when we arrived. We called and maintenance arrived the next day to fix it. The gas grill was pretty diry......and it wouldn't light. When the maintenance guy was there, my husband talked with him about it. You have to light it with a long candle lighter because the igniters don't work. We tried to burn off some of the mess but ended up not even trying to use it. The mosquitos were bad at night so we couldn't get in the pool. We've stayed on Betty Street at other homes for the past 3 years and have always seen the mosquito spraying trucks. We didn't see any this year so that may account for the increase in mosquitos. All in all it was a good stay. Nice home - plenty of room - comfortable bed - pretty much everything you need. We would recommend it. As far as activities....if you like wine, go to The Naked Grape and try out their wine station. The Red Bar is a must!! Get a Bloody Mary - very good. Fish Out of Water is good for upscale casual dining and the Sticky Toffee Pudding Caake with ice cream is so delicious at Fire. Didn't like Goatfeathers as much this year. We've eaten there several times and it seems to have gone downhill. Seaside has so many neat little shops. Be sure and visit the book/record store. Bookstore on the bottom, record store upstairs. We could spend hours in there.

Owner response:Glad you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately the salt air and the ignitors on the grill do not seem to get along, we have tried and tried to get them to work but the salt air seems to render them useless in less than 2 weeks. Will need matches or a lighter to light. Thanks Ron

Our Family's Stay at the SS Minnow

My family enjoyed a great beach vacation at the SS Minow this past August. The house and grounds were beautiful. The Minnow was as spotlessly clean and as tastfully decorated as shown on the owner's website. Since we had young children with us, it was great to have a pool on site for variety when they didn't want to take the 2 minute walk to the gorgeous white sand beach. Having the Goatfeathers restaurant within a short walk from the house was very convenient. We also loved finding many great shpos and places to eat at in all of the nearby towns along 30-A. We especially liked Bud and Alley's, the Red Bar, and the Great Southern cafe. There were plenty of activities that we enjoyed such as golf, charter boat fishing, kayaks, bicycles, kids' rides at Pier Park, and shopping. We were also abIe to take advantage of the stunning beach sunrise for an incedible professional family picture that we could never get at home. I would recommend a stay at the SS Minnow to anyone I know. We are already planning our return trip for next year and are bringing additional family members with us. We can't wait to come back.

Great Vacation

We had a great time at the SS Minnow. Even planning on coming back again this summer. We loved the private swimming pool and walking distance to the beach, which was fabulous. We also could walk to some great restaurants and shopping. We loved swimming and listening to the ocean at night. Home was modern and clean. I would definately recommend the S.S.Minnow

gas grill was nasty, bed in master suite broken at bottom. mattresses litterly sitting on floor at a slant, hammock contained large hole- large enough for a child to completely slip through, upstairs master porch has missing spindle-very dangerous for a child .beautiful house needs some maintenance. would have liked to have moore poolside seats available. only 2 chaise and 2 chairs and small chair side table.

Owner response:Never complained while staying in home. Home has all new mattresses and pool furniture this fall 2011. New Hammock. Spindle was repaired as soon as we became aware.
