The Whidbey Wayfarer - Beach, Whidbey Island Lodging, is a two-story, 1950's beach cottage in the famous Jim-Johns fishing camp area in Clinton, with approx 1400sf that sits on a hill overlooking the beautiful Puget Sound. It is about a 1/2 block from private Columbia Beach, where you can watch ferries crossing and enjoy the sparkling lights of Mukilteo across the sound. You could cook some dinner in the full kitchen, hang out in 1 of 2 sitting rooms, warm up in front of the Lopi propane stove, or just sleep in and sit on the porch and do absolutely nothing! Whidbey can be all about unplugging from the system and relaxing...doing your thing on "island time". Guests may enjoy strolling on the sandy beach, building a fire, clam bakes, collecting shells, beach glass, or driftwood, and possibly seeing many different types of wildlife including whales, seals and bald eagles. There is a private boat ramp available with plenty of room for boat trailer parking, and abundant fishing, clamming, and crabbing (in season/licensed). Bring your family and your dog to the Whidbey Wayfarer - Beach.
The property is approx. 1 mile drive from the Clinton ferry dock, and is located in a very quiet and private neighborhood at the end of a dead-end drive. Located on Whidbey's south end, a guest will find easy access to groceries, hardware, restaurants and bar, coffee, and local shops. A little farther up the island is the historic, waterside town of Langley with it's quaint shops, art galleries, excellent eateries, jewelry, and antique stores (city/dining guides available in welcome folder). Also, the island offers many wineries featuring local & regional vintages.
While on Whidbey, a visitor can enjoy many outdoor activities, including, but definitely not limited to: hiking & biking (acres of parks and trails), kayaking (easy in/out from our beach), bird/wildlife watching, running (road or trail) and many off-leash dog areas, including our beach and the beautiful Double-Bluff beach area (skim boarding and tide-pool viewing). But, if weather keeps you indoors, there's shopping, dining, antiquing, live theatre, a movie theater, coffee shops, and bars to keep you dry & happy!

  • I stayed here with a friend and my dog in April '09. We had a fantastic stay! It's a cute beach house, very clean on a quiet dead end street. The private beach is a short walk away. It has a fenced in back yard and a huge front yard for the dog to run around. The best part was relaxing in front of the fireplace at night. The owners left us maps to the area for things to do. I will definitely stay here again!

Thanks for the welcoming vase of lilacs (and the coffee!) and all the useful information on the off-leash areas and things to do in the area. The house is well equipped and comfy and we felt very much at home. Hope to be back some day.
