Summer birthday get away

"We loved staying here. Warm soft night time breezes, beautiful yard, great hanging out on both porch and deck, glowing solar lanterns in the evening, comfortable living room and bed room. The kitchen is perfect, there were only two of us but four would not be crowded in the least. My favorite part of my birthday celebrations was morning tea on the deck and cocktails and dinner on the front porch."

Charming, Magical Cottage - A Wonderful Stay!

Guest: Hw (San Jose, CA)
Date of Stay: 07/01/11 Review Submitted: 07/07/11

We (2 adults n a child) came for the July 4 weekend to visit some friends and found this little gem of a place to stay. It is a well-kept, cute little cottage with a beautiful backyard/garden. We liked that it is very clean, airy and charming in an understated sort of way. It is also very nicely decorated. We were well-rested on the comfy beds. Enjoyed playing in the backyard, making simple meals. Amenities: There is no cable tv but Wi-fi is available. There is also a CD player, a DVD player and a selection of movies. If you have young children, bring some DVDs of your own. There are also board games like chess, domino, Jenga, etc. Cookware provided is very basic, an old kettle, toaster oven and a coffee maker. Refrigerator, of course. Also provided are dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, some basic spices, olive oil, vinegar, etc. If you are looking to spend some time in Nevada City / Grass Valley area, this is a wonderful cottage to come home to. It has a peaceful, serene air about it. We have been to fancier vacation rentals but this cottage holds a special place for us. It is a charming, magical place where it's simplicity is beauty!

We live in Nevada City and had some family stuff come up and needed to quickly accommodate out of town friends. We decided a vacation home would be more comfortable then a hotel room. The Garden cottage far exceeded my expectations. It was the perfect location – close to downtown, private decks off the bedrooms, and very comfortably furnished. A beautiful front yard with mature trees surrounded a big front porch. All in all a very peaceful and relaxing place to spend the weekend. The owners were very easy to work with – quick to respond with the paperwork and finalize the transaction.

we have stayed here 2 different weeks in 2009 in prep for daughter's wedding - comfy house with good kitchen, lovely porches/gardens, and privacy - nice adjacent "romantic bungalow" accessed thru garden gate makes really great combo for larger gatherings (we had 10 family in 2 houses) - landlords very helpful - no A/C, but ceiling fans helpful, nice to have washer/dryer and 2 bathrooms much appreciated

This cottage made such a lovely base for our visit to Nevada City. It was quiet, peaceful and private, yet just a short walk to town. Great vibes throughout the house and yard.

Our stay in the 1940's garden cottage was wonderful. We celebrated my husband's birthday and this place was great for our family of 3. It is nicely decorated and very comfortable inside. The private yard is amazing and we are looking forward to visiting again in the warmer months so we can enjoy it even more.
