Brise de Mer is a charming and private 1-bedroom flat in a New England-style building that borders the Mendocino Headlands State Park. The flat is comfortable and inviting, decorated in an eclectic style that draws strongly from the French Provencal and Beach Cottage aesthetics.
The main room is an open concept living/dining area. Six-over-six windows let in light, fresh breezes, and tranquil vistas. In the dining area, a pub height table provides meadow views and ocean peaks while you sip your morning coffee. Located off the dining area, the kitchen is compact but fully equipped with stove, microwave, fridge, french press, and all of the dishes, pots, and utensils needed for eating in, so you can save on the expense of restaurant dining for every meal.
The living space has a comfortable seating area that is positioned so you can relax and enjoy the sparkling ocean view through classic Mendocino watertowers, weathered barns, and Cypress trees. A vintage desk sits at the front window so you can take in the same view while writing postcards or whatever the muse inspires. A charming electric woodstove is great for setting a romantic ambiance or keeping warm on chilly nights. Other amenities include a stereo with CD player and wireless Internet access; if you have a laptop, DVD rentals are available at Mendo Video.
Brise de Mer includes a private deck that offers colorful flowers and ocean views to the west and north. Two comfortable chairs and a bistro table make for an inviting spot to sip coffee and read the newspaper in the morning, sunbath, bird watch, whale watch, or savor a good bottle of wine while enjoying one of Mendocino's vibrant sunsets.
The sparkling clean bathroom includes a shower-over-tub and a full supply of bath products and linens for your stay. The separate bedroom is light and bright, with two walls of six-over-six windows. The warm and cozy queen-sized bed beckons with fluffy pillows, a down duvet, and high thread count linens. Drift asleep to the distant crash of waves and the lonely moan of the buoy as the Milky Way shimmers overhead and the Point Cabrillo lighthouse beacon sweeps the headlands and sea. In the morning, awaken to fresh breezes rustling through towering Cypress trees, bird song, and a bluewater view of Russian Gulch Bay from bed. Such a serene start to the day!
Brise de Mer is located on the west side of the Village, near the Mendocino Art Center and Mendocino Theatre Company. The flat is quiet and private, with very few neighbors and a significant setback from the lightly traveled road. Situated on a beautiful, naturally landscaped acre that borders the Mendocino Headlands State Park, you will feel like you are staying in the middle of a coastal meadow. From the front yard, follow a short path through a hedgerow and you are in the park, with its miles of trails, rugged cliffsides, and ocean views. And while the location feels remote, you are only a 2-minute stroll to all of the Village's attractions, including outstanding restaurants and markets, charming boutiques and art galleries, day spas, museums, and the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Park the car and forget it while you are here!
Or, if you prefer, venture further afield and experience the numerous sites and activites available on the Mendocino Coast, including: sea caves, tidepools, and waterfalls at Russian Gulch State Park, the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse Preserve, the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, the historic Skunk Train, horseback riding, ocean kayaking, or whale watching excursions, golf at the Little River Inn, or wine tasting in Anderson Valley.

You have a lovely place. I will certainly pass my experience on to others...While it was a couple days shorter than planned, I sure enjoyed being in Mendocino, the quiet, the coolness, the soft moisture, the dramatic coast. A great respite for me. And that bed....is so comfy!! Thanks again for your part in making this a really nice vacation time for me.

Hi Tammy, Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time staying at your place. The apartment was perfect and we couldn't have asked for a better location (nice and quiet :-). New Year's eve dinner at cafe beaugolais was really nice and romantic (the food was excellent). We also had dinner at the Moosse Cafe last night which was also great. Needless to say, we had a great little vacation. To top it off, it was pretty much sunny every day :-)
