Location: South of Market, San Francisco, San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA (San Francisco International Airport is 10 Miles Away.)
Accommodations: Studio, + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2)
Keywords: Studio Apartment
This is a spacious, studio-apartment-like room with a large en-suite bathroom totaling approximately 600 square feet. Located in the historic South of Market area of the city, it is part of an urban warehouse built in 1906, immediately after the big earthquake, and recently converted into a single-family residence. The twelve-foot ceilings give the room a wonderful airy openness. It is comfortably furnished to make your stay relaxing and refreshing: curl up on the large, velvet-covered sofa to watch one of the over 200 channels on the TV, or watch a movie on the DVD player; entertain at the round dining table; luxuriate in the cozy queen-size bed; soak by candlelight in the separate period-piece tub in the private bathroom. Internet service is provided, along with cooking facilities, plates, glassware and cutlery, a full-size refrigerator, towels and linens.
In-house parking is availabel for a regular-size car for extra charge.
The central location of this property is one of the great advantages. It is within walking distance of many of San Francisco's primary attractions, including the Symphony Hall, the Opera House, the new Asian Art Museum, the new Main Library, and City Hall with one of the world's largest domed rotundas. A slightly longer walk takes you to the Moscone Convention Center, the Museum of Modern Art, the new Jewish Museum, and Yerba Buena Gardens and Art Center. Close by is the new Bloomingdales, and Nordstrom's department store. It is two blocks from Market Street where public transport is available to take you to any part of the city. Here, too, is the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station where trains are available to take you to the airport and the East Bay. Freeway access in all directions is only a few blocks away.

Couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Everything was fabulous and spacious!!! Obviously the hosts were very helpful and suggested great resturants (the thai place was awesome). The garage was extremely convenient if you drive there, too.

Gillian and Chris are great. They don't bother you but if you need anything, they are mo0re than happy to help. To have a garage was also a plus. The place is much nicer than the pictures show. It gives you a sense of home. SWe cooked in several nights with no problem. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are within walking distance. Some great restaurants - Citizen's Band and their bakery Pinkie's, Cowbot Fondue, Zero Zero - are also walking distance. This studio is so much better than staying at a hotel. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you Gillian and Chris.

The place was beautifully decorated, perfectly located and hosted with the utmost charm. Gillian and Chris were available when needed, without being invasive. There is a Wholefoods store right around the corner as well as plenty of resturaunts and other entertainment options. I think it is an excellent way for a couple to visit the city, have lovely accomodations and not break the bank.

My husband and I stayed at Gillian and Chris' place for 5 days during the first week in May. Gillian and Chris were incredibly welcoming and got us familiar with the studio and city. The studio was much more than pictures can show and felt like a home, fully equipped, centrally located. Gillian and Chris were wonderful enough to extend our checkout time and let us keep our bags there till our departure in the evening. A few blocks in any direction put you into a new neighborhood, that is how perfectly located this studio is, we were amazed at how much we walked and did not need that much pubIic trans. I would highly recommend this studio for your stay in SF. Thank you Gillian and Chris!
Owner response:Thank you to J.P.B. for the kind words. She and her husband were great. Chris and I enjoyed meeting them, and, indeed, enjoy meeting people from all over the country and the world when they come to stay at our studio. When our guests arrive we do try to help them familiarize themselves with what is available in the neighborhood, and this wonderful city in general. After that, even though the studio is quite independent, we are still close at hand if any questions arise.

Gillian and Chris were thoughtful, wonderful hosts. We've never stayed in a converted warehouse before and were pleasantly surprised. The room was private, huge, everything was clean and fresh (flowers, too) with lots of restaurants and markets nearby plus the BART (subway) was only two blocks away. We're really happy we didn't rent a car, as everything was in walking distance or a short bus/cab ride away. (There's even a car rental two blocks from the house). What a little jewel!
