Rating Details: I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was more than happy with the location. The vacation rental was clean. The property manager was more than helpful. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There were a few things that need to be repaired. The front screen door, the pull out bed was broken and unuseable and the tub drain did not work, to name a few. The TV had stains on it and the box had to be disconnected to use the DVD.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location; Great Weather, mostly sunny, in the 70's. About 1 mile from *Beautiful* Siesta Key public beach; 1/2 mile from Crescent Beach public access. Condo updated and in very good condition. Walked to Captain Curt's (great seafood) and Crescent Grocery. Heated pool was nice. Family played tennis every day. Washer & Dryer very helpful; appreciated extra beach towels in unit. TV in each bedroom & living room was great. Would definitely stay here again.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The unit was advertised to have wireless highspeed internet and did not. The carpet was ripped, stained as were the sofas. The vertical blinds were broken and missing slats which lacked privacy, missing lightbulbs and not a working smoke detector, broken screen door. There were lots of old t.v.'s, phones and other broken items taking up valuable closet space. Cable t.v. was out for a week.

The property manager was more than helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Really lovely apartment in Siesta Key. A little further from the beach than we'd hoped as although it is technically across the road, there is private access so really it is about a mile away. However, when you get to the beach it is absolutely worth it - breathtaking! One watch out, we were constantly bitten by the pool during the daytime - welcome to Florida in August! It seemed particularly bad there though so just be prepared. One afternoon I was out there for no more than 10 minutes watching my kids swim and I was bitten 15 times.

The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: For a beach side place there should not be carpeting. A unit closer to the bay with a view is probably better but we did not spend much time in unit. Most of the time was spent at Crescent Beach. If you like to fish then the pier at the bayside is great.

Comfortable and a great price

We spent most of our time on Crescent Beach. So this condo was perfect for coming home to shower, eat and sleep. Then eat breakfast and prepare lunch to head back to the beach. The dock is perfect for fishing and the view is spectacular. The pool was cool and refreshing. Our party had 4 adults and 2 small children and we were very comfortable. They provided a small crib for our 20 month old son.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Bay Oaks a nice place to stay, but becareful what unit you rent. I stayed at Bay Oaks in the 5 floor high rise. The property itself is well maintained and layed out, the pool area spotless, and clean. The one downfall that we found was that there are so many trees and foilage that during the day, at any given time the unit was dark and cool. There was no sunshine in the unit itself, and we really had no view of anything, other than trees and parking lot. We stayed in unit E1, which had a wonderful layout, however, it has not been updated for a few decades,especially the linens, and bedding. Very out of date. There was no cable TV, and the TV themselves were from early 80's. The carpet needs to be ripped up, and tile or laminate layed down, and then the musty smell that was permanent, might go away. The appliances were new and wonderful, laundry was a beautiful surprise! The kitchen was well enough equipped. The dock was wonderful, but it would have been nice to have been told that we would still need to drive to the beach, as there is no public access for the resorts on that side of the street. It seemed a shame that we could not just walk across the street to the beach. For a condo that is on the beach strip, that you pay $1200 for a week, then I would think that the linens and bedding would be up to date, and there would not be mould in the shower curtain, and there would not be a permanent musty smell, that candles burning for hours does not do alot for.The front door had a screen that was falling out, I tried to fix it, and the decoration on the outside, was falling off, and was flapping every time you used the door. The resort itself was good, but I would not want to stay in unit E1 again.

Rating Details: I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was happy with the location. The vacation rental was clean. The property manager was adequately helpful. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The unit itself was not bad, clean but could have used some updates on some basic small appliance type items, televisions, toaster, etc. Everything was in good working order,just outdated. There was a funny smell in one bedroom so we purchased an air freshener which helped a lot (unable to open bedroom window to air it out). It is not far from the main beach, a mile walk or so and there are bus/cab systems conveniently nearby. The most important thing I can say is that I would NOT recommend Bay Oaks to anyone under 50 years old at this time of year. The tenants were not friendly and my college age daughters were confronted by aggressive tenants more than once to let them know that college age kids were not welcome there. One of these times they were walking into complex at night with their father after having dinner at SKOB and they were laughing amongst themselves, nothing offensive. We were in bed nearly every night before 11:30 and watched movies, too tired after beach all day to "party." Signs posted throughout warn against any noise after 11pm or sheriff will be notified, etc. Pool looked very nice but we did not use, preferring the beach. Seating limited at midday, very busy. The rental instructions ask you to clean the unit at the end of your stay and wash towels as well as sheets. I have never stayed in a condo (and there have been many) that asked you to wash the sheets, and check out by ten am. The cleaning supplies were very limited so I cleaned as much as possible, but did not feel I should have to go purchase cleaning supplies to clean further. Left unit as neat as possible. Traffic is heavy on Midnight Pass so at times it was difficult to get in and out of complex, we chose to walk quite a bit. I hate to give a less than stellar review when we stay somewhere, but quite honestly our vacation was kind of ruined by the treatment of the other tenants at Bay Oaks. My girls nicknamed it Bay Oaks Retirement Community :

I was going to contact him and give him the feedback that the two livingroom lamps had switch defects and we didn't use them. (Good idea to ask past visitors or who would know if something didn't work) Comfortable, convenient to beach. It was our second year in the same condo.

Reviewer Comments: I'll start with the only negative point I have, and I knew this going in: The property is not beachfront, and the beaches within walking distance are all private. You will have to drive a mile or so north to the public beach. This is not a huge deal. The condo was great! It was quiet and roomy. The beds were comfy and everything you need is there. There is an onsite pool which is great for an evening swim or for daytime fun. There is shopping convenient and close by, including several grocery stores. Bottom line: I would do this again in a heartbeat!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We checked in the evening of July 10, 2011. It seemed like a no brainer after reading the wonderful website write up and looking at the pictures. BOY did we find how pictures cannot even be believed. So upset with the worn out beds, the dirty carpet, the over flowing toilet, the matress in the pull out bed was worn out long ago. It had a big dip right in the middle of it. So you would know I am not making this stuff up, I took some pictures of my own and they are on youtube. Just google the address to this unit and be sure to include unit E01. Unit has potential but it has many things that need attended to and updated. The biggest play on words was the first two: RECENTLY RENOVATED. We should have asked exactly what that meant.

Filthy carpeting, smudge marks on the glass tops of furniture, dirty floors, missing light bulbs, beach chairs in disrepair, beach towels with holes in them, and a general grubbiness that did not lend itself to comfort. We also found out from several people that the town home units at Bay Oaks (which were bigger and nicer than the condo unit we rented) were cheaper! That added to our dissatisfaction. On the plus, it is in a great location, between the two commerce areas on the key and very close to beach access. The swimming pool was also great and the people we encountered at the complex were all very friendly. We may consider staying at Bay Oaks again, but not at that condo at that price.

This unit was large in size but as stated Dirty,old bedroom furniture. Front screen door was in shreds. Carpet stained, old linen. The toliet was broken,we reported it,they came for the part and never saw them again for the remaining 2weeks. Lots of problem getting the phone to work,as owner had service disconnected. The complex appeared nice,unit was horrible !!!! Customer service was also terrible.

Reviewer Comments: First floor Bay Oaks Condo was quiet and peaceful. These were very important attributes. The screened area was a pleasant spot for relaxing with the paper in the morning. And a nice place for a drink before dinner. The MBR was comfortable. There was an abundance of sheets, towels, etc. The microwave was 'on its last legs'. The carpeting appeared to need replacing or at least a professional cleaning. We would have been happy to use the vac, but upon inspection, could not find the vacuum bags. The unit was well stocked, otherwise. WE LOVED SITTING ON THE DOCK. Manager responded on 7/8/2011: Thank you for staying and for the review. Microwave was checked and serviced since you notified us.

I reserved this unit a day before arriving since my prior arrangements had fallen through. We had 5 adults between the ages of 25 and 29 and it was perfect. It was better than I expected. The condo was very spacious and homey, it didn't feel like we were staying in a hotel suite or some of the clinical feeling condos/villas in other parts of the area. It was very quiet, had a nice grill area and fishing dock. The amenities as far as kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies and linens were abundant and appreciated. Having only a day to find a place I had an "I'll take what I can get" attitude and did not expect to find something this great. The only downside was the distance to The Village but we discovered that it's only $10 a day to rent a bike which makes it a lot more convenient. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
