Great cabin, however the neighbors can take away from a peaceful & private retreat

This is a great little cabin up on Big St. Germain Lake and really had everything you could need to enjoy your stay. The cabin itself was very clean and the kitchen stocked with whatever you could need. It was also a great value and the owner was very helpful. The cabin also isn't far from a nice grocery store (with New Glarus beer!), a bait shop and other things you may need on your trip. This being said, if you are seeking seclusion and really want to immerse yourself in nature, you may want to keep looking. While we didn't have neighbors on one side of us (thankfully, b/c their deck is very close to this deck), the neighbors on the other side had both children and dogs. And while I enjoy both, when you're hoping to escape to some peace and quiet, well, you'll have to get lucky on the neighbor situation. If you enjoy meeting new friends and going fishing with the neighbors, don't hesitate for a minute to book this cabin. We spent many an evening down at the fire pit, which was terrific, except for that darn dock light. While I understand lighting the area up for boaters (it's a shared dock), you should be able to turn this off once all of the boats are safely in for the night. Not only did it take away from viewing the amazing stars, but it had this never-ending buzzing sound, which just wasn't pleasant on the ears. Simply installing a switch on this light would solve both of these issues, but again, maybe not everyone is seeking this kind of tranquility. Good luck fishing and enjoy the deer and bald eagles!
Owner response:We very much appreciate our guest's comments! Pet are NOT allowed at the cabin next to us. The renters did not tell the owner they were bringing three dogs. Also, we are looking into where to turn off the dock light. It bothers us as well.

My wife & I have stayed in many cabins through out the years. Deer Ridge is unquestionably the most comfortable, tastefully decorated and well maintained. Nothing was over looked when it comes to the vacationing essentials. If you forgot to pack certain things before leaving home, we were certain to find it already there for our convevience. The cabin was so cozy, it was often times hard to leave for our intended daily fishing trips, and eagarly looked forward to our return. Extremely relaxing & beyond our expectations..........
