Borgo Vitignano is an authentic farming estate within an ancient hamlet in the heart of Chianti, surrounded by unspoiled nature and romantic vineyards.
Its sunny position and slight altitude (300 mt) give Vitignano very pleasant weather from early Spring through to late October, each season offering our guests idyllic scenery, warm breeze, stunning colours and intense flavours. The farm produces Chianti wine, and olive oil which can all be tasted at the estate. The borgo has an organic food garden, where you'll be welcome to pick your own juicy tomatoes and whatever is in season.
Being Vitignano a mere 10 kms away from the city of Siena and less that an hour away from famous art cities like Florence, S. Gimignano, Volterra and Perugia, it is a good base for both relaxing in the garden and for interesting days out travelling through 1000 years of history.
The owners live at Borgo Vitignano throughout the year and will ensure a warm welcome and superb hosting, assistance and friendship, to make your stay a truly memorable experience.
Accommodations
Borgo Vitignano offers its guests a lovely independent apartment right in the heart of the hamlet. Bisaccia went through a careful and complex conservative restoration which kept the flavor and rationale of the original XIII century’s building. The apartment is endowed with wooden beams, terracotta floors, typical Tuscan furniture and all modern comforts, thus making a holiday at Vitignano perfectly functional and charming!
The name of the apartment was inspired by the objects that the wayfarers anciently used for being able to cross the “Francigena” road, that united Canterbury to Rome, and of which a branch passed in the proximities of Borgo Vitignano.
Bisaccia takes its name from the typical open leather bag pilgrims used to carry as a symbol of charity (given and received). This apartment is made up of a lovely lounge with fireplace, a kitchen/dining room, a double bedroom, a twin bedroom with an extra bunk bed and one full bathroom with 2 showers.
A sort of dive in the past, to explore paths forgotten absorbed in the green that to, distance of hundreds of years, succeeds still in stimulating the body and the spirit of the wayfarer, today a tourist.
