We found this amazing house at the last minute, after all other options turned out to be grim, overpriced and actually frightening. The clouds parted, and voila! a beautiful spaciously designed house, with our own little koi pond outside our window, acres to roam including the adjacent park, wild life outside our window and flowers blooming all around. And even beautiful music playing over the speakers throughout the house, the owner has turned us on to some great music with the playlists of songs on the little stereo, all part of the ambiance of this home. And if felt like my home while I was there, due to the warm generous nature of the owner. We brought our son, 4 at the time, and our stay there will always be a source of happy memories for him and us... so much to explore...the donkeys, goats and chickens to feed nearby, the hammock, the rope swing, the koi and everything on the property. Just heavenly. Other amenities...close to everything. Never had to drive more than 10 min for great food or shopping. Property was clean, well designed, well lit, well maintained, wonderful little kitchen and a nice big shower. Also access to Foothills Park when staying there, wonderful park above Palo Alto with trails and a lake.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I'm hesitant about writing this review only because it's going to be so positive that the place won't be available the next time I want to stay! This is a little gem of a retreat right in middle of Palo Alto - quiet, comfortable, and very convenient to Stanford, shops and restaurants by bike or car. The rough hewn "Relax" sign just before the entrance gate at the end of a long driveway says it all. I stayed in the studio for two weeks, and my son, daughter-in-law and their infant joined me for part of the time. The studio is basically one large room about the size of a 4+ car garage that has large, artsy, hanging natural, entwined-vine room dividers to separate the living and sleeping areas, plus a kitchen and sizable bathroom - both well-appointed with Italian marble. The kitchen is well-stocked and has a gas stove. There's cable lighting to accent the owner's art, lots of natural light, comfy beds and sectional sofa, large dining table to accommodate guests, patio with a small breakfast area and an enclosed washer and dryer just outside the back kitchen door by the koi pond, and access to a well-used city walking/biking path within about 100 feet of the driveway. The owner lives in a home nearby on the same property and is very accommodating. I highly recommend this special little place for adults who enjoy walking and/or biking and are looking for a quiet retreat.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

What a treat -- renting this lovely studio apartment in a park-like setting just about 1/2 mile from the intersection of Page Mill Road and El Camino Real sounded too good to be true -- but it was even better than we could picture from the wonderful photos. The grounds are wonderful, very relaxing, even has a hammock for that afternoon rest! The apartment itself stands alone at the back of the property and from the kitchen you can watch the donkeys of neighborhood across the stream. We enjoyed our walks on the bike path that ran parallel to the property. Out of the dining room window is the koi pond! Our daughter and her husband have a very small apartment and it was so nice to make dinner for them several nights (there is a Safeway about 2 miles away) and enjoy the comfy dining room and living room area at "our" place for a change! The place is great! Thanks for sharing this bit of paradise with some hotel-weary travelers! This is sooo much better than any hotel we have stayed at in the Palo Alto area as we visit our daughter here. TV and internet worked very well. Shower is really GREAT! Kitchen had everything we needed! Everything was great! THANKS!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

your charming place. It has been a happy, comfortable "escape" to return to after our busy days. After admiring all of your wonderful collections, my favorite pasttime was watching the delighful donkeys -the happiest, most contented donkeys in the world. Homes with history always seem to have a special spirit and warmth - your property speaks with a gentle voice from the past - so glad it in your caring handsDid you find this review helpful? What a pleasure our Roble Ridge soujourn has been! This lovely studio has given us a much longed for opportunity to spend some very good days and evenings with our adult children here in Palo Alto, so far from our home in Sweden. Here we could talk, write, eat and plan for the future. We have been visitors, but you made us feel at home. Thank you for providing such a harmony-filled venue for the family gatherings of which good memories are made. Hope to see you again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4
