This charming 3 bedroom home in Salida, Colorado was initially built in 1900 for the first Forest Ranger in Chaffee County. It has been expanded on two occasions and updated many times over the last 100 years. The latest addition was completed in 1997 and included a modern kitchen, laundry room, powder room, office/bedroom and mud room. A new baseboard hot water heating system was added at that time along with a complete renovation of the plumbing and electrical systems. The house now totals nearly 2,000 square feet and is as comfy and cozy a place as you'll find in the Rocky Mountain region.
The most recent renovation and redecoration of this house has put it in tip-top shape and ready for Colorado visitors. Whether you are coming to play on (or in) the river, snowboard or ski at Monarch Mountain, hike in the gorgeous National Forests, or simply find a place to get away, Salida will delight you, even if it's only because of the much more relaxed pace of life in this beautiful little town.
Salida is located right on the Arkansas River in a beautiful, expansive valley bordered on all sides by Rocky Mountain splendor. The nearby Sawatch Range offers spectacular views (even from town) of a number of "14ers" - peaks more than 14,000 feet above sea level - that can also be hiked by visitors on non-technical ascents.
Located right in town, we are just a ten minute walk to historic downtown Salida - Colorado's largest (in area) Historic District. Shopping, dining, antiquing, entertainment . . . everything you could ask for is just a few minutes away.
