We spent 9 days in the Precious Jewel of Astoria and had a fabulous time. The apartment proved to exceed our expectations - it was clean, tidy, roomy, with comfortable furniture and beds. We were provided with everything we needed, although being British we donated a kettle - we do like our tea! We were welcomed with a basket of fruit and other goodies, bottles of water in the fridge and a beautiful vase of flowers. We felt completely at home. The apartment is only 5 minutes away from the subway station and you are in Times Square within 20 minutes. The area also has a number of good restaurants where we enjoyed several delicious meals. It is in a peaceful area and it was a joy to come back to every evening where we could relax and put our feet up after a long day's sightseeing. The owners were delightful and nothing was too much for them. They even lent us an I-pad so that we could check in online for our return flights. The towels were changed and the apartment cleaned daily. As we were there for 9 days our beds were also changed. The service was superb. We would not hesitate in recommending the Precious Jewel of Astoria to our friends or family and hope that one day we might be able to make a return visit.

I recently spent a long weekend at the apartment with family visiting the US from abroad. Our family of four wanted to relax but also be close enough to enjoy the all the attractions in the city. What a fantastic property. Suzanne and Edgar were most gracious providing many amenities like water and snacks which we would never find in a hotel room with comparison prices. The apartment was extremely clean, cozy but with enough space so that we never felt confined. The neighborhood is safe and very diverse. I will certainly come back and recommend this property for families, couples and girls weekend away.

The precious jewel is a top apartment in a top location. We found this appartment to be exactly as described in both photos and text. There were no hidden surprises. What impressed us was the quality of the appliances and the furnishings. The bed in the master bedroom is very comfortable. We originally intended to cook most evenings (and the kitchen is set up well), however, Astoria has a great selection of restaurants which were so tempting. This was very pleasing. My family has stayed in appartments in Paris, Rome and through out Australia. The precious jewel is the best we have rented. We found the owners to be great hosts and were extremely friendly and helpful. The answered all questions, either via mail or telephone promptly. There were no issues with finance and our security deposit was returned in full quickly. My family will look to stay at the Precious Jewel of Astoria during our next vacation in NYC.

Without doubt this was the highlight of a fabulous family vacation in New York. We originally looked for accomodation in Central Manhatten but a local friend convinced us to stay in Astoria. What a brilliant bit of advice. As owners of an interior design practise in New Zealand we had a vision of what we would like and an almost romatic view of "our" New York style apartment to which this was almost a carbon copy of that dream. We are a family of 4 with the kids, 17 and 14. This apartment is more than fantastic. it is litterly perfect. The hosts are like familyand really made us feel at home. Nothing was a problem to them and we really felt we gained some new friends. It was Xmas so imagine how we felt walking in to a beautiful gift basket, decorations and a real Xmas tree all in the appartment waiting for us. Astoria itself is a wonderful place to stay with a massive ammount of eateries (highly recommend the Brick Cafe / Bar), food markets and shopping but its access to the subway into Manhatten is awesome. Already we have passed on the details to other kiwis travelling to New York as it is a must stay. If you are reading this review and, like us, are a little bit wary of the things that seem to good to be true, please take our advice and make this Jewel in Astoria your home away form home. It saddens me that these review sites dont allow for personal details and contacts to go up as I would love to tell anyone in person that it is real, and it is perfect and you will never find better hosts in all of New York. Thankyou so much for playing such a big part in the success of our hard earned dream holiday. Just got back from a wonderful weekend in NYC, where we stayed at the "Precious Jewel of Astoria." The pictures of the property are 100% accurate, this was truly home away from home. Edgar and Suzanne were very personable and helpful. They were attentive to all of our needs. My husband and I took our two college aged sons, along with their girlfriends to visit NYC during the Christmas season. There was plenty of room for all of us. Upon arrival, we were presented with a beautiful gift basket along with bottles of water and Vitamin Water in the refrigerator. The bedding was comfortable and the living area gorgeous. The owners checked in with us to make sure that we had everything that was needed. The apartment was blocks away from the subway, a three minute walk. Two trains go in and out of Manhattan all day long. Visiting the city in December was exciting, but it was so nice to leave and return to a quiet brownstone in the evening. We were able to relax and enjoy each others company. My husband and I plan on returning over the summer--this time just the two of us :) I have stayed at a handful of vacation rentals by owner, this was by far the best! Thank you Edgar and Suzanne.

The apartment had everything we needed. We stayed there for 10 nights with our two teenage daughters. The apartment was very clean and the daily cleaning service was great. The owners were very friendly and helpful. On arrival we were welcomed with flowers, a fruit basket, snacks and cooldrinks. The apartment looked like the pictures on the website. The subway was a short walk from the apartment and took us directly into Manhattan. We had a great time and would recommend the apartment, especially for people with children as it is very spacious.

We had a very nice stay here. The owners allowed us to leave our luggage with them since the other party was not departing till 6pm. We came to watch a Yankee game anyways. Edgar and Suzanne provided a nice food basket and complimentary drinks during out brief 2 day stay. The beds were very comfortable and the apartment was very clean. They are truly the best hosts I have experienced to date. So the saying about New Yorkers being rude does not apply to the owners of the precious jewel. The subway is less than 2 blocks away and the area was very safe and quiet. We will be back for more baseball and exploring and hope that this Jewel of a place is available for our stay.

We stayed at precious jewels for eight days with our two teenage children. We came on my partners 40th birthday what a welcoming suprise my partner got balloons banners the most gorgeous birthday cake and so much more Suzanne and Edgar are so kind and the perfect host. The apartment is very spacious and homely we had a very comfortable stay here.Thank you to Heather who kept the apartment clean everyday providing us with fresh towels. The subway is a two minute walk away and takes you to manhattan in about twenty minutes. We most definately will be returning to precious jewels we loved it and fell inlove with nyc.

We have stayed there for 15 days at the Jewel of Astoria and couldn't be happier with the whole experience. The owner and his staff are consistently friendly and helpful, the location is perfect and the apartment and the whole building are very well-maintained. There are no surprises. What you see is exactly what you find, plus a lot of little details (flowers, a basket of fruits, etc) that make your stay more enjoyable. Maps, guides, you name it... it is there. The apartment is cleaned everyday, towels are always fresh, there are no things you can think of to make your stay better that they do not provide. The subways is two blocks away and takes 15 min to get to Manhattan. So you have it all, you are close enough to enjoy the city, but not as close to suffer it. Overall, J of A. is truly a great place to stay!

My parents and I had a very pleasant and comfortable 10-day stay at this apartment. It was extremely convenient in every way: its location near the subway and the shops and restaurants of Astoria, as well as all the modern conveniences that you might need. Everything was very clean and well-kept, and the daily house keeping service was respectful and efficient. Suzanne and Edgar, the owners, were very hospitable and helpful and made us feel welcome and were available for any questions that we had during our stay. I strongly recommend this rental to anyone without reservations and will keep it in mind for our future needs.

We were three New York visitors from Finland and we stayed in this apartment for five nights. I must say everything was much better than what we expected. The apartment was very clean and had everything what was needed (and more). The subway station was just five min walk from "home" and the neighborhood was quiet and yet had what was needed, f.ex. supermarket and pharmacy. I can highly recommend this apartment for New York visitors. It took only 15-20 min to get to Manhattan. Many thanks for Suzanne and Edgar. I hope we will meet again.

You make the decision, pay the money and then just have to keep your fingers crossed....well I was delighted that Precious Jewel is all it claims. Great location, modern and spacious, and clean. We visited in early March and had beautiful Spring weather. Used the Metro to travel to Manhattan every day.($29.00 for a week). Station really close, and another only a few minutes in the other direction where there are several cafes to grab breakfast. The property owners made themselves available to us should we need them and the apartment was tidied every day. Basket of snacks, drinks in the fridge and fresh flowers are thoughtful touches. We would definitely return in the future.

We had a wonderful time staying at jewel of astoria.The apartment was extremely comfortable, warm and relaxing. superb location for local shops and restaurants plus an easy walk to subway and into central Manhatten- what more could you ask for?!! Our family with a nanny and four children stayed here comfortably. Everything was clean and worked well. We appreciated the coffee and 'tidying up'. A very short walk to the subway for the N or Q train directly into midtown. Safe. We parked our van easily for the four days. Extensive restaurant list provided and DVDs! Highly recommended.

We would like to say this was the best accomodation we could have wished for and would recommend this 100%! Suzanne and Edgar are amongst the kindest and considerate people we have met. We came to New York to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday and as well as a welcome pack and fresh flowers, they had left a dozen red roses and a card for Jill and the most delicious birthday cake to die for! - and again huge thanks to them for that. The apartment is everything in the description and more. The metro is only a five minute walk and fifteen minutes takes you into 5th Avenue, twenty to Times Square. It was so easy to get in and out and around NYC. We bought a weekly pass for $24 and that gave unlimited access to the metro and local buses had we wanted. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and we felt extremely safe. The apartment was beautiful, immaculately clean, with a daily cleaning service. Suzanne and Edgar kept in touch throughout our stay to ensure we had everything we needed and to wish us well on our way home. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer! Again thanks to Suzanne and Edgar for making our stay one of the most memorable we have had and for making Jill's birthday one to remember!! The personal touches were wonderful. We will all return some day and will definately stay at Precious Jewel again. Have a great time if you visit, we had the best ever!

The photos show the appartment as it is. It is a confortable, clean and quiet place and we have really enjoyed our stay there. We are a family with two daughters (21 & 20) and a couple. Clean was made when we were outside of the appartment, thanks Heather for that. Edgar was really helpful and we liked his recomendations ( we have dinner at a greek restaurant: "Aki"). There are a lot of shops: supermarkets, laundry, restaurants.... near the appartment. The subway is just five minutes walking and it takes just about twelve minutes to get to Time´s Square. By night it is a safe and quiet place and we recomend the appartment to anybody who wants to visit New York city.

This property worked out perfectly for my family of six (including children ages 7, 10, 12, and 14). We had plenty of room and found the location to be very convenient for our first trip to NYC as a family. The subway, laundry, fast food, and market were all within two small blocks, but the street itself is very quiet and residential. People were walking their dogs, pushing strollers, etc. The apartment was immaculately clean and well-stocked. There was a fruit basket and treats as well as water bottles in the fridge. The bathroom contained any toiletry that we may have needed. The cleaning service was fabulous. It was like staying in a hotel. We appreciated the maps and information about local attractions as well as the free WiFi access. Overall, it was a delightful place to stay while we explored NYC.

I just want to recommend this apartment to anyone. Edgar and Suzanne are so sweet and great hosts. My family and I had the best vacation in Precious Jewel I didn't want to leave. The apartment is everything in the description and more. The subway is five minutes away. The neighbors are so friendly and the neighborhood is so quiet and peaceful. Suzanne and Edgar made this property feel like home. It was so clean and well maintained. I would like to thank Suzanne and Edgar for making my stay the most memorable I have ever had!! I will be making plans for another stay in Precious Jewel again.

We arrived at the apartment late afternoon and were stunned. Not only does the apartment fit the description on this site perfectly (the photos are absolutely correct!), we also found a really huge welcome basket filled with fruits, nuts, raisins on the table. This was a very warm welcome! The kitchen is great, everything you need is there. We really loved the coffee-maker! Beds are so comfortable, the bathroom fits any needs. Even if you would forget to bring your toothbrush, no need to worry! TV`s are in the living room and in both bedrooms, so everybody can watch what they like :-) The apartment is located in a quiet street in a safe neighborhood. We felt totally safe and secure. Even if you want to stay in Astoria and not going to Manhattan everyday, there are so many nice restaurants just around the corner on 30th Avenue, so many shops where things are much cheaper than in Manhattan... we really loved Astoria! The walk to the nearest subway-station takes about 5 minutes, the ride to Manhattan (Times Square) about 15 minutes. Edgar did everything to ensure that our stay is pleasing. He called us and asked if we need more blankets (as the temperature did fall for two days near 5 ° C), or if we have any enquiries he could help us with. At the day before our departure he drove by just to wish us a safe trip home. I can definitely recommend the apartment! It was spacious, very clean and cozy. Loved it!!! Thank you Edgar for everything, we will come back!

What a fantastic place! We were welcomed by Edgar and were greeted indoors by a large basket of fruit and Easter Eggs for the children. The flat is ideally located 10 mins from Manahtten by subway and a mere five minute walk to the lovely area of Astoria full of shops and restaurants. The place is an ideal home from home and provides respite as well as easy travelling to see all the sights in New York you want to see! We had a great time and and cannot recommend this place highly enough

Am a seasoned traveller to NY, particularly Queens and this time I was bringing two friends who'd never been to the States so the planning etc was all my responsibility. From the initial enquiry through to arrival - the support from Suzanne was amazing. Everything was so prompt & professional. We arrived on Saturday afternoon from the UK tired but excited. I cannot convey the look of delight on my friends faces when they saw the standard to accommodation. It really is superb and no detail (however small) has been overlooked. Everything was of great quality and the welcome basket, was, well most welcome. The area is great and convenient to anywhere you may want to go but I seriously recommend you take time to explore the Astoria area itself, the restaurants are superb. If you want a good bar, The Irish Rover won't let you down. We only stayed four days and I truly wish it was longer BUT we'll be back, without a doubt. Suzanne & Edgar, thank you both for a fantastic holiday.

My family spent Thanksgiving week at Precious Jewel. We selected the Astoria neighborhood because our daughter lives nearby. This location worked out perfectly for us. We were close to family and a lively local neighborhood filled with restaurants and shops selling everything you could possibly need. The street the apartment is on is very quiet and the subway is just a short walk away. Our days were busy with trips into the city and it was great to return to such a clean and well-appointed apartment each evening. Suzanne and Edgar are thoughtful and attentive hosts. The gift basket waiting for us when we arrived was wonderful, as was the daily cleaning service. The big screen TVs were great for watching football and movies. We even had plenty of room in the kitchen to cook a full Thanksgiving dinner. We will definitely stay here again and will recommend Precious Jewel to other family and friends.

The description was absolutely adequate and the service was hotel standards like, but without the tiny rooms you would expect in NYC. When returning to NYC I would always choose the apprtment and would also recommend it to my friends

this flat is the best place I've stayed at in New York so far. if you're looking for a great place to stay, that's spacious, clean, modern, super equipped and with caring landlords, than this is the place to be. not to forget the excellent value for money! for us there was nothing better than coming home to our flat from a buzzing day in Manhattan - relaxing and unwinding in our own lounge room, enjoy a cup of coffee and order some food. getting downtown is also very convenient: just grab an unlimited metro card and off you are - there are two stations in walking distance and the trains running downtown will bring you to your favorite spot in Manhattan without the need to change the subway. we will be back in New York soon and there's no way not staying at the precious jewel for us.

Our stay at Precious Jewel of Astoria was nothing less than perfect. The townhouse is immaculate, you could eat off the floor. All the comforts of home and then some. For a stay in New York I highly recommend this excellent locatio close to the subway station, safe and clean neighborghood. The daily maid service and gourmet coffee were additional touches that signify the attention to detail that Edgar and Suzanne put into making you feel at home. Definitely will come back next year and will recommend it to my friends and realtives.

Members of my family and I rented the Precious Jewell in August 09 -- we were in town for a long weekend to celebrate a birthday. We were thoroughly impressed with the rental -- it was roomy, lovely, and extremely clean. It was also very conveniently located -- close to subway, restaurants, amenities, airport, etc. Edgar and Suzanne gave terrific customer service and were prompt in their communication. When we arrived, we were welcomed with a beautiful gift basket of treats, flowers, bottled water and vitamin water in the fridge. When we needed extra bedding, they brought it right over, as well as movies for my two little nieces. The apartment was tidied unobtrusively each day. It was like a home away from home. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting NYC. Also wonderful was the fact that we could rent it for 3 nights, unlike other rental apartments that require a minimum of one week. We will rent it again next time we come to town!

We stayed at "The Precious Jewel" for a week in the beginning of August. We are New Yorkers that grew up in Astoria and opted to rent vs stay with family. The apartment is as luxurious as pictured and my first thought was "not exactly child friendly" as we have 2 children ages 4 years and 22 months. However our stay was marvelous! It was just like being in a 5 star hotel with a lot more room. The children had their own room with TV and I did not have to worry about cleaning as there was daily room service! We rented a car (because of the kids) and did not find parking a hassle at all but a car is not necessary as public transportation was less than a 5 minutes walk. We had our friends visit us in the evening, it was like home away from home. The apartment is surrounded by great restaurants and the owners provide a guide of local restaurants that deliver. There was a gorgeous basket filled with delicious fruit & cookies upon our arrival. Due to our mutual busy schedule we did not have the opportunity to meet the owners personally but they were in touch via phone making sure we were doing well. We hope to get the opportunity to meet in May 2010, when we plan anothe rvisit to NY and to this gorgeous apartment.

Edgar & Suzanne are lovely people, extremely helpful and very generous to our daughter who celebrated her 21st birthday during our stay. We were 5mins walk to the nearest subway and the about 15mins to Times Square, getting about was so easy. We have no hesitation in recommending this Jewel to anyone looking to book an apartment for their visit to New York and to all our family and friends. We stayed @ the Precious Jewel in May 2009 for 4 nights - 2 adults and 1 child. The apartment was very spacious and very nicely furnished. We are used to staying in 4 star hotels, and this place was at par with much more space! The location is perfect - a very short ride from LaGuardia airport, a short walk to the subway to get to the city (faster then driving/parking), plus the neighborhood is great with grocery, nightlife and shops open late. The daily housekeeping was excellent as was the flowers and fruit basket upon our arrival. Will definately stay again on next trip to NYC. Miles & Nicholle.

after having stayed in the apartment 6 months ago, there was no other choice but to stay here again. this time two of my mates and me stayed here and we all loved the place. the owners provide best customer service, the apartment is perfectly clean, high quality-equipped and super well-maintained - you just get the feeling that just the best is good enough and that everything you need is just there. the location really is convenient as two subway stations are just close by - as is a well-sorted supermarket: so you get a chance of easily getting into the city but still have a retreat after a buzzing day downtown with your home-cooked meal. if you prefer to have a nice dinner or just a drink, there are plenty of options just a 5 minute walk away. there's just something for everybody and i can only recommend to stay here!!! knowing the apartment there no other place to stay for me when i come to new york!!! thanks again to edgar and suzanne!!!

We had gone to the US to visit family and Precious Jewel was located just a couple of blocks away. The apartment was perfect - a home from home. Suzanne and Edgar welcomed us when we arrived and we were delighted with our abundent welcome basket and the daily replenishment of coffee & tea - not to mention the excellent daily cleaning service - which was tailored to suit our 'late rising' each day. The restaurants and bars close by were great and the train to the city was just a few minutes away. There was also shopping and cinema in the vicinity and we also fitted in a visit to the local museum. We highly recommend a visit to Precious Jewel it is a modern, clean and very comfortable apartment and we hope to visit again.

It was the best idea to pass X-mas and New Year in the Precious Jewel apartment. We had a most cordial welcome, finding a really beautiful X-mas tree and a huge gift basket. All the descriptions were correct and the service was excellent. The owners helped us in any question we had and we past wonderful holidays. In the close surroundings we found the train, shops, restaurants and supermarkets. We can highly recommend this place as we also felt very safe throughout the whole stay.

We stayed here for a week in October and it was brilliant. The apartment was in fantastic condition, most of the equipment seemed brand new. It was cleaned every day which meant I could have a "real break" from domestic duties! The location was great, very close to 2 subways. We went into the City every day and it was nice to come out to Queens at the end of a long days shopping and sightseeing. Would highly recommend this apartment and Edgar & Suzanne were most welcoming and friendly.

Beautiful two bedroom apartment. Very clean and comfortable. Edgar and Suzanne have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. Fresh flowers and a fruit basket awaited our arrival and made us feel welcome. The photos of the apartment are exactly what the place looks like. The apartment is located on a quiet residential street with lots of restaurants and shops within easy walklng distance. The train into Manhattan is located within a short walk. We would highly recommend the Precious Jewel of Astoria. Have fun, we did!
