Why the Owner Chose Wilson

This location was where our parents honeymooned in 1945 during the 2nd world war. They bought from a local trapper next door to their close friends who bought a 1/2 homestead from the original homesteaders.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin

Activities abound. Mountain biking, skiing, running and hiking are as close as the front door. There are moose and deer who live on the property. The ski area is nearby as is Teton Pass and the town of Wilson. It is one of the more special locations in Jackson Hole.

Amazing winter getaway

Guest: Snowseeker (Portland, Oregon)

My wife and I have stayed several times at this cabin located just outside of Wilson. It is quiet and secluded, yet with easy access to skiing, the elk refuge, and other Jackson Hole activities. With a local guide it's accessible via back country skiing directly from the ski hill. The cabin itself is well appointed, homey, and very comfortable. It easily accommodated a group of six. The kitchen is well furnished. The owners have always been helpful and responsive to requests. We would definitely recommend this for a family or a group of adults looking for a quiet get-away near Jackson Hole.

Classic log cabin retreat to unplug from the distractions of modern life.

The cabin is in a great location for snowshoeing both adjacent to the cabin or at one of many great snow shoeing routes nearby, the ski slopes are not far and there is even dancing at the Stagecoach Bar in Wilson on Sundays. While there is lots to do outdoors staying in is quite nice. One day while others hit the slopes I went snowshoeing around the property and then spent a relaxing afternoon reading and taking in the view from the living room with the warmth of the sun streaming through the windows. In the evening the open floor plan allows for group socializing and is ideal for cooking dinner with friends and family.

Great spot

Date of Stay: 02/09/11 Review Submitted: 01/26/12

We were 3 couples who stayed here for wintertime skiing at Jackson Hole and Targee. Location is fantastic. A short ride to the lifts and to town, but complete privacy with fantastic views. The owners are incredibly accomodating and provided accomodations that were very clean and everything worked. Great book collection about history of the area and lots of nature books and games. One of my favorite things was the view from the hot tub after a long day skiing. It was AWESOME. We all want to come back next year.

Owner response:Thanks for the great feedback Sharon. Glad you enjoyed your stay. One minor clarification needed... The hot tub on the deck was a Soft Tub installed temporarily and is not currently available - though renters can still enjoy the deck and the wonderful view regardless.

Wonderful location and comfy cabin.

My wife and I spent five nights in this well accompanied and comfortable cabin. The owners couldn't be nicer. They were helpful and the cabin was clean and well cared for. Location was just what the doctor ordered - close to Jackson Hole but not among the crowds. It was quiet. Our only visitors were a couple of moose who wandered by most evenings. I would highly recommend this cabin to someone looking for comfort, quiet and great access to the town and the park.

Beautiful location and views. Perfect for a couple, but not a family

Guest: Steve (Radnor, PA)
Date of Stay: 07/05/09 Review Submitted: 12/23/11

My family of 5 stayed at the house two years ago. We loved the location and the seclusion. The deck, was awesome. Family room was spacious, and we loved to play board games, because there was no TV :( However, the cabin was tiny and the sleeping arrangements were less than ideal. No actual bedrooms, just a loft where you have to climb a narrow spiral staircase (really scary to climb at night) with a queen futon and two single beds. Only one small bathroom. So if you have more than four, the others will have to sleep on a couch in the family room. Have stayed at over 6 VRBOs over the years. This was the most challenging for our family. We cut our stay short and checked into a hotel. I bet the experience would have been better is it was just my wife and I.

Owner response:We invite you to look at the other, more accurate and current reviews below. The photos and YouTube video (please check out our YouTube link video tour) are very accurate and will show that the cabin is anything but "tiny" as they seem to recall. There is no "loft" but, rather a large room upstairs with an adjacent bedroom with solid wood pocket door for privacy. The upstairs also has a TV with video collection, another queen and single bed (a total of two queen and one single upstairs) and two desks. There is a comfortable queen size futon bed/couch on the main floor (not just a "couch" as they recall). This guest may be having some problems recalling the actual cabin since their stay was 2 1/2 years ago and they are only now posting a review. The YouTube video, photos and reviews will help clarify all the amenities as well as the extraordinary views and features! We do appreciate their feedback on the great location, romantic getaway recommendation and wonderful deck as we totally agree and so do all of the other satisfied guests!

Perfect Getaway

Guest: Mountain Girl (Houston)
Date of Stay: 09/17/11 Review Submitted: 09/27/11

This property provided a wonderful, somewhat secluded, respite, but with easy access to activities and the towns of Jackson Hole and Wilson Wyoming. The deck view is unrivaled as the cabin sits high up in a forest of Aspens and Evergreens overlooking the Jackson Hole valley. Support amenities were very good and the household was stocked well and thoughtfully. A definite "do-over" for this couple.

Jackson Hole Log Home overlooking the Valley and Mountains

It was the most incredible vacation, and in the perfect place. This is probably one of the best locations in Jackson Hole. Skiing and hiking at your door step. We saw wild Elk or Moose almost every day. Only a few minutes drive down a country lane for shopping. We loved the privacy the views, and the beautiful log home. The owners were fantastic, and we felt the value was great! We look forward to returning next year! Loren Chotzen.

Great location - off the beaten path

Have to agree with everything in the previous review - very accurate photos & descriptions, great cabin & location, quiet, peaceful, very helpful hosts - perfect place to spend a fun & relaxing week during the summer. Very close to everything, yet you're "in the woods." Favorite: waking up to a spectacular view of the valley and hot air balloons. Tks to the owners for sharing this gem with us.

Be prepared to relax in this quiet location. Listing information and photos are accurate. This is the owners home away from home. The owner is very helpful and so is their daughter, who lives in the one story cabin next door. You will have just enough communication with them to feel welcomed but not watched. Beds were very comfortable with nice linens all around. We brought items like laundry detergent, TP, dish soap, and shampoo with us, but there was enough stocked to use if you forget. We felt comfortable practicing the "replace what you borrow" mantra. The cabin has been well cared for and kept very clean. The view from the deck, east over the valley is beautiful. The lowing of the cows from the valley ranch is a nice way to wake up in the morning. Coffee on the deck can't be beat and evening cocktails are even better. Kitchen is well equiped. Laundry worked great. Helpful instructions are in the right places. Great collection of local publications to get you started learning/reviewing all the valley has to offer. We were greeted by a moose cow in the driveway upon our arrival. We saw fox and other smaller mammals too. One challenge was the night-time decent down the spiral staircase to the bathroom. But then, I'm over 50. The kids didn't seem to mind. Book your massage with Audrey well in advance. Her schedule fills up fast. Waffles at the top of the Teton Village Tram are great...but they require a tram ticket first. :O) An evening float trip (with dinner) on the Snake is a great activity for the entire family. Very modern and well stocked grocery store in the town of Jackson, but the general store in Wilson will work in a pinch. Bagels at Pearl Street are very authentic. If you're a winter visitor, I could go on forever...so I won't. Have a nice stay.
