  My family (a group of 7 adults) just returned from our fabulous trip to Italy. We stayed for 5 nights at Villa Caprifoglio and wished it had been longer. The view was absolutely captivating and the location pefect. The Villa was very clean and Lorenzo and Maria helpful in every way. We had a car but didn't use it much while we were here and relied on public transportation. The climbs and walks to the marina, town and to the bus stop were much easier on the younger members of our party but we all enjoyed the challenge. We made arrangements for a private boat to take us to Capri and spent a marvelous day touring the island. We took the bus to Positano, Sorrento and Almalfi and caught the train to Pompeii and Naples. We shopped the markets in Massa Lubrense and fixed a couple of delightful meals at the Villa and enjoyed lovely sunset view from the balcony while we ate. Our younger folks relaxed in the hot tub on the lower balcony while enjoying the view of the Bay of Naples and Capri. Lorenzo's recommendations of restuarants were outstanding - be sure to visit La Primavera in Massa Lubrense. A special thank you to Lorenzo and Maria for arranging for a delicious cake to be waiting at the Villa for us to celebrate my son-in-laws birthday. Too bad we couldn't stay longer.

  FOR THOSE RENTING A CAR, this location is astounding. Capri is right in front of your large, private balcony, the house on the hill's mid-level (3 apts on top of one another) and the sea at c. 300 m., bird's-eye-view. The apt. is very clean and spacious and the hosts (Maria & Lorenzo) are... godsends! You'll be close to the micro-market in the village (Massa Lubrense, which has a tourist info centre, a pharmacy, an automated teller machine...). Sorrento is c. 10 min. away; Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, c. 50 to 60 min.; Salerno, a bit further (30 more min.). Boats depart daily from the village "Marina" to Capri (fantastic island tour and then 4-5 hour drop-off before they take you back, same day, c. 5 pm) and (bi-)weekly to Amalfi & Positano and even to Ischia; such destinations and more also available from Sorrento's "Marina." Besides relaxing in your apt., if you don't wish to drive there, the CIRCUMVESUVIANA local train (from Sorrento) leads you to Pompeii and Ercolano in about 40 min. FOR THOSE WITHOUT A CAR, however, unless you're young AND/OR V-E-R-Y PHYSICALLY FIT, you may run into trouble. First, you have to rely on the public bus (orange and blue) and train (CIRCUMV.) schedules. To reach the bus, you must first climb 31 sharp steps to get to the gate and then walk up a very steep private road for c. 500 m, and finally c. 2 km more a flat public road to get to the micro-market. To go to Sorrento, a 20-min. ride will lead you to the main square or the train station. Buses to Amalfi, Positano and Ravello are available at specific hours. To take the Capri boat, you'll have to walk down the hill, meander along a path close to the sea & reach the village Marina (c. 25 min.). When you're back, you go through the same path, and a 63-step flight of stiff steps and another 10-15 min. up a quite raised road to finally walk down the 31 steps to your apt.. My wife & I (2 seniors) stayed 2 fabulous weeks in this apt. (1-14 May), mixing rest and outings. At 1st we were a bit taken aback by these physical demanding requirements. Fortunately, we were in good shape. But one thing should be very clear: the use of a car is not RECOMMENDED, we think it's ESSENTIAL, unless.... We travelled to Europe over 15 times and NEVER rented a car. This time it was tough at the beginning, but... we got used to it. So, it's up to you. And whatever your decision, ENJOY ! We never had such a dream view, we had beautiful weather and again, our hosts were fantastic.

  We were 6 women staying at the villa in mid-October. It was a wonderful experience and the villa is exactly as you see pictured above. The view is breathtaking and you could spend hours looking out over the gulf of Naples and at the Isle of Capri. Every morning we would open the doors, let in he fresh air and stare at the sea, drink our coffee on the veranda, weather permitting. The owner and his daughter were gracious and very helpful. We only had to call them once, but Lorrenzo came right out to the house to help us. The only downside to the villa was that you definitely need a car. The villa is on a long slope so the walk to the bus is up a very long hill. Unless you are very, very fit, it is difficult to do. You are about 15 minutes from Sorrento by car but the little town of Massa Lubrenze near where the villa is located and which is walkable from the villa, if you can get up the hill, is charming and very authentic, Our stay at this villa was a wonderful experience, the owners were wonderful and Sorrento is all it is claimed to be. The restaurants were great and we would especially recommend you go to Donna Sophia in Sorrento. A traditional and authentic Italian restaurant but a real culinary experience. I loved this southern part of Italy and hope to go back this way next year. I recommend this villa to all. It is really beautiful and spacious, clean, accommodating and just lovely. Definitely recommend to my family and friends and to all of you. I pray God blesses you with a visit here.

  Imagine waking up and stepping out onto the balcony from your bedroom to be greeted with a view of the Isle of Capri and Isle of Ischia. If you stay at Villa Caprifoglio, that's exactly what you'll get. We stayed in this villa for 2 weeks in May 2010. As a party of 5 we found the villa to be extremely roomy, very clean and tidy, the furniture modern decor. It exceeded our expectations. The pictures featured on this site are a true reflection of what the villa looks like. The beds were comfortable, crisp, clean linen provided which was changed weekly. The kitchen was a chefs delight, fully self contained with all cooking utensils provided. On the sun deck were sun lounges and table and chairs where we often sat in the afternoon sipping a vino and embracing the breathtaking views. The cost to stay here was very reasonable. Upon arrival we were greeted by our host who showed us around the villa and answered any and all questions we had. He was very friendly and shared much information about the local area including public transport and tourist attractions/areas we could visit. The bus stop was at the top of the drive. Our accommodation was part of a 3 villa complex, with street access walking down approximately 15 steps to our door. It was a quiet area. 2 minutes by car to Masse where all necessities could be found. Sorrento is about 7km away for tourist shopping and restaurants are plenty. The local harbour is also very close, you can get there by car or go down some steps and enjoy a lovely walk along the rocks and beach, approx 20 minute walk. There you can catch a boat to the Isle of Capri, Positano or Amalfi Coast. We hired an 8 person boat and sailed around the Isle of Capri for about 2hrs. Our captain then left us at port to enjoy lunch and some shopping and waited 4hrs to then take us back to the mainland. It was a magic trip. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone who wants superb accommodation at an affordable cost with breathtaking views and close enough to all ammenities and tourist destinations. I will certainly be returning there in the future.
