Welcome to the first LEED (green built) certified home in Washington DC. It's modern, comfortable, historic, efficient and convenient to all that DC offers. Having received the 2008 Design Award from historic Mount Pleasant, it goes without saying that this easy living open floor plan makes for the perfect vacation stay! The main room includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining and living spaces. Off the hallway going towards the rear is both the full bath (complete with reclaimed marble tile, bathtub and dual flush toilet) and the full sized high efficiency laundry facilities. 1 separate bedroom with large window and ample closet space is in the back as well as a separate exit out to the rear. At approx 700 square feet and centrally located in the Capitol's beautiful Mount Pleasant neighborhood you'll feel right at home. High efficiency systems and appliances, reclaimed materials, biobased spray foam insulation, recycled drywall, no VOC paints, polished concrete floors, dual flushed toilet, sustainably harvested lumber for doors and reclaimed walnut trim throughout are just a few of the green features this fun home has to offer. Come see for yourself!

The home is located on Ingleside Terrace-hands down the most desirable street in Mount Pleasant. Its a super social neighborhood with deep yards, sizeable row homes and lovely people which make this tree lined street an A++. It's also just 4 blocks from 16th St (one of DC's major N/S arteries, offering easy, inexpensive buses every couple of minutes 24/7), literally across the street from Rock Creek Park, .5 mi to the National Zoo, 1.3 mi to either Cleveland Park Red Line or Columbia Heights Green Line metros. There are also various other bus lines within 5 blocks that head in every direction.

The house is only a short drive, bus or subway ride away to world famous museums, art galleries, the White House, Georgetown, the convention center and the National Monuments on the Mall. It's about a 15-20 minute stroll to Adams Morgan or Columbia Heights (two of the District's most multicultural and vibrant neighborhoods), and close to Dupont Circle and Cleveland Park (home to a wide range of popular shops, restaurants and music clubs).

    • This is a beautiful centrally located home in a very cozy neighborhood with friendly neighbors. The house is equipped with all of the essential amenities you’ll need for your visit to DC. Home was very roomy for our four guests with plenty of bathrooms. I would highly recommend this home to others.

    • We loved this house because it is comfortable, well-stocked and away from the busy National Mall area. Close to Metro transportation with neighborhood grocery stores close by, this home is far superior to hotel living. Our family of 5 stayed for a week during inauguration 2009 and enjoyed the entire experience.

    • I wanted to bring my entire office to Washington, D.C. for a conference and chose Vacation Rentals By Owner (VRBO) so we could live like people in a neighborhood instead expensive hotel room-boxes. I settled on a recently renovated row house in the Mt. Pleasant area near the Zoo and Rock Creek Park. But this wasn’t just any old renovation. No, Amy Levin, the owner, renovated using eco-friendly, energy efficient, and recycled materials with the goal to “minimize environmental impact by implementing numerous green/sustainable design strategies… taking advantage of both the embodied energy of the building as well as the urban infrastructure. In addition, the creation of the tightest possible envelope is a priority to maintain the highest levels of energy efficiency.” The negotiations went smoothly and I plopped down the money. Compared to a 35 room/night hotel stay, we were saving money from the start but, in addition, we were able to cook our own breakfasts, snacks and dinners, do a load or two of laundry and enjoy hanging around together in the evenings. So, it was an economical choice and our experience was better than the hotel alternative. From the house, it was a short two block walk to the bus stop which took us to the Metro station which took us directly to the Convention Center. So, our travel time was about 20 minutes each morning. In the evenings, most of us chose to walk instead of taking the bus. D.C. is pedestrian-friendly; in fact, driving a car can be a major hassle. This got us out in the neighborhood and mingling with the locals. We also sampled food from the local eateries and shopped for groceries in the neighborhood, too. It felt as if we lived there. Which was pretty much the point: No hotel stress, no forced dining out, plus comfort foods for everyone. The house has four bedrooms. The master is on the top floor, with its own bath; on the middle floor, three bedrooms, bath and laundry; and, on the main floor, the kitchen, dining and living rooms in an open plan with high ceilings and lots of light. True, not everyone had a bedroom: we brought along an air mattress and a sleeping bag. No one complained. Since this is actually Amy’s home, we expected some house rules and there were just a few: don’t use the good dinnerware and take off your shoes to reduce wear-and-tear and noise for the tenants in the basement apartment were the important ones. And, we kept it tidy and cleaned up before we departed. We would do this again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Amy!
