My two bedroom, 750 sq. ft. guest apartment in a prewar building on W. 108th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam (closer to Broadway) will have you living like a real New Yorker in a real residential neighborhood. Yet, the #1 subway, just two blocks away, gets my husband to his Times Square office in 15 minutes. It will get you to theaters, Lincoln Center, Museums, all your places of interest. This is the Upper West Side you see in the movies—not all new construction with chain stores. Just steps from my building to Broadway and find Absolute bagels, your morning destination for NYC’s best bagels; perhaps you prefer the artisanal breads, pastries and croissants from Silver Moon Bakery a few blocks south. You’ll find three grocery stores within two blocks, florists, a well stocked wine store, delis, eateries of every persuasion: Indian, Mexican, Turkish, Thai, American, Italian, French. Real bookstores including the famous Bank Street Children’s bookstore. Walk towards Amsterdam and feel dwarfed by the majesty of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the largest Gothic Cathedral in the world; tour, listen to vespers, or make a medieval bronze rubbing. A few blocks to the north sprawls Columbia University with its open and inviting gates; imagine walking among students from across the globe that will graduate, go home and shape the world! Families with children will enjoy the short one block walk to Riverside Park and its many playgrounds. Some sledding hills await! The subway is only one flight deep at my stop, making hauling strollers a lot easier!
My guest apartment is immaculate, freshly renovated, 2 bedrooms and sprawling by New York standards (750 sq.ft.). This elevator building will deliver you to the fifth floor with ease. One bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has a single bed with its own half bath (and laundry). The second bedroom has enough floorspace to squeeze in a playpen. Both bedrooms face the back of the building where sleep is shielded from any intrusive street noise. The living room has a sofa, chairs, various tables, lamps and faces the sunny south. I’m leaving two single areo beds and their supplies for extra guests (children). The dining room is old world with wainscoting trim, a built in cherry hutch, table for four, two counter stools pulled up to the corian counter connecting the kitchen. Find every appliance: dishwasher, full sized oven, stove, microwave.
I’ve put myself in your shoes and made up the beds with 350 thread count sheets, 100% cotton blankets, fluffy comforters and duvets, provided full coffee and tea service, soaps, soft towels, shampoos, conditioners, body wash, pump hand soaps, even spare razors and toothbrushes!
I live in a different apartment in the same building so all this treatment is meant only for you. You won’t be sorting through any unattractive, cluttered personal belongings.
Rates: Nightly/ weekly: January-February: $200/$1400; March: $250/$1600; April -December: $275/$1700 -four night minimum when calendar allows; PayPal is accepted and allows use of your credit cards. I'll request a 50% non-refundable payment 6 weeks prior to arrival with the balance due in cash upon arrival.
Maximum of 3 adults-accommodated in 1 queen bed and 1 single bed; additionally two single areobeds are available for use on the living room floor.
When you inquire, tell me about yourself, any guests, the reason for your visit. I’ll reply with an agreement letter for you to acknowledge though e-mail. I’ll send a PayPal invoice for the deposit. The neighbors are wonderful...and we are looking for considerate guests. Therefore, no smoking, no pets, no loud parties. Please disclose any and all out-of-the ordinary intended uses for the apartment such as photo shoots, hosting parties for people in addition to registered guests, rehearsal dinners, graduation parties, possible surprise guests etc.
