ATTENTION!!!!If you are considering other Mountain Village or Ski Ranch Properties, take into consideration how far off the main road you will have to drive time consuming winding roads, especially in the winter! This can double your time to get to town or even into Mountain Village grocery, shops, lifts and restaurants. Our home is uniquely situated very close to the main highway, yet once at the home, you will never know the highway is even there! You won't see or hear it! We are literally 10 minutes from the lifts and 6 miles of easy driving to town. We were the first to buy any of the ski ranches, so you know we have the choice lot for views and accessibility!
This beautiful family home sits on 2.217 acres sided by open green space. Views are abundant in all directions. World class view of Mount Wilson and Wilson peaks from the patio/balcony. On site caregiver in separate apartment to assist with any questions, issues with home, local information and direct contact to owners. Large kitchen and Dining area on Main Floor to accommodate large families and friends. Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Ski Ranches
We grew up living when in the United States in Telluride for the summer with my mother who taught school. That was long before it became a ski area or resort destination. This is how my family were able to afford to have a home and live until recently in Telluride after my father's retirement. We are just regular working folks and are very connected to the home and area. We always had guests so while very nicely decorated it is spiritually welcoming to visitors! My father was the first regional Disaster Preparedness Director, very active on the Colorado Trails Commission, responsible for gaining public access to private lands, getting owners to will property to the county for public use/access, and twice elected County Commissioner. My mother also dedicated to volunteering and developing the community is the designer of the meditation gardens at the local Presbyterian Church and the County Museum. Hopefully others have stepped in to keep them up since her departure.
The Unique Benefits at this House
I have a locally living cousin Roger who is often available to visitors for hire to ski doo, hunting, fishing, jeeping and such. He was a professional outfitter/jeep touring employee for many years and the manager of the famous Franz Klammer Resort. He really knows his stuff! At the home is an attached, private apartment where a caretaker/tenant lives.
"Captain Keith," is responsible for setting up the home for visitors, up keep, setting up our visitors. He is quiet and you won't know he's there unless you need him. He also is often willing to show guests around the area initially. He cleans the home after you leave and tips are accepted if you so choose. Think of him as your own private concierge! He gets rave reviews! If you have something in mind, like setting up a surprise party or bouquet or whatever you can think of, Captain Keith can help you pull it off!
Go up the street to end of cul de sac, follow the graveled drive way to trail head. If you go left it winds around the Ski Ranches. I always go Right which takes you through some woods and nice moun

Great 4X4 pass takes you into Silverton for great day outing. Also the stream in Ophir is often stocked with fish and fun for flyfishing/hiking.
Picnic, camping and fishing in small lake non motorize boats only, stream fishing above and below for brook trout. Upper stream goes all the way to Trout Lake. Road also goes to Trout Lake and back
Trout lake is surrounded by fabulous mountains. If stocked fishing is good for Lake Trout. Really fun is trolling from a pontoon or other boat if you can find someone to take you like my cousin Roger
Several great trail heads. Cross Country tracks/skiing, snowmobiling. I have always wanted to try the fly fishing, jumping off here and getting picked up on road as it reconnects to Delores River. D
A great place to park, get groceries, mail store and get to town. You can bring bike with you and even your dog on a leash!
Owner's Map of Private Homes, Ski Ranches
I am actually the daughter of the owners, Vern and Roberta. My father graduated from West Point in 56, meeting my mom at a ski meet while she attended Syracuse. They both grew up in Western Colorado. We served as a family in the U.S. Army for 30 years. The house funishings reflect our travels and has a European fusions with Western Colorado style. My mother's family are fruit growers/packing houses and own the Tom Tom label for marketing. My grandfather Robert F Broughton owned and ran the United Marketing Exchange until he was 84 years old for 60 years. He is in the Agriculture Hall of Fame for being with his father pioneers and instrumental to bringing fruit growing to the western slope. My father's father was a Forest Ranger in several areas expecially the beautiful Grand Mesa for his lifetime.
We like to help and share whatever we can about doing things and having a good time in Telluride. We love repeat business!
