We have stayed at The Lighthouse many times mainly in May and October for five years now and love it. Its our home away from home with a beautiful view of the beach. We love it for its location( the dead end street) and the fact that our neighbors are all residents and all SO very kind. The house is very comfortable, clean, and we have always had everything we've needed. The owners are always available and friendly. I would recommend this house to anyone.

This is an awesome location; the beach is right across the street....and this is a dead end street with NO traffic....so that is great! However, the property is in dire need of repair... I honestly don't think it would pass a federal housing inspection! There are electrical cords running everywhere, and rusty nails all over the deck. The kitchen cabinets were actually slimy to the touch. (Don't even look under the sink cabinets-YUK!) As soon as we got out of our car, my poodle stepped into a clump of "sand spurs" which were all around the steps going up....so we had to sit down and pull these out of her feet before we could even unpack the car! Pretty bad welcome...a bottle of wine doesn't begin to suffice.... Also, the sheets and beddings were so old, they were actually rough to the touch. The dog crate (left for our convenience) took up as much room as the kitchen table! It was totally in our way, and our dog has her own crate and would not feel comfortable in a strange crate anyway! Also, It did take a month for us to receive our deposit back.... I would never stay here again and can't recommend it unless the owners decide to update. :(
Owner response:We have never had a complaint about the condition of the house. We note that a prominently-placed note in the kitchen encourages guests to call if ANYTHING in the house does not meet their expectations--we will address the issue immediately. These guests did not call that number, nor did they contact us either during or after the stay, to let us know they had an issue. The house has been recently updated and is in excellent condition. The porch was painted last spring; in salt air, rust on some nails on the porch will "bleed" through the paint, within a few months. We touch up that paint frequently. The sheets and bedding are all less than two years old, as are the towels, some of which are brand new. In fact, one of our most frequent compliments is on the linens and bedding. The dog crate is, indeed, left for the convenience of pet owners--it folds down so that it can easily be taken out of your way, if you find it an inconvenience. Had they let us know the crate was an issue, we would have removed it. Per the rental agreement, we returned the deposit within 30 days, as specified. We contacted these guests, after seeing this review, to address their concerns. We received no response.

My husband and I along with our 3 small dogs, Max, Shelly, and Gizmo enjoyed our stay at the Lighthouse the week of July 4th 2011. All I can say is WOW. The house was perfect for us. It had everything we needed and the beds in the master bedroom were most comfortable. We had gorgeous views of the ocean, saw dolphins several mornings, and just enjoyed the peace and quiet. The beach was clean and the water was clear. The outdoor shower was great and having the gates on the deck for our dogs was an added bonus. I recommend this house to anyone who wants to vacation with their dogs. The owners are very pleasant to work with and we received our deposit refund promptly without incident. I can't wait to come back. Thank you Jeanne and Jack for sharing your lovely home!

We stayed at this house in March 2011. The owner was very pleasant and the house was well stocked. However we have yet to receive the refund of our deposit which should be a concern to anyone considering this property. The last email we received apologized & asked for our address promising to mail it ASAP. That was June 4th -- nearly 3 weeks ago & 3 months since our stay.
Owner response:We were not aware that this still had not been taken care of and we apologize profusely. We shall ensure that the deposit comes to you immediately, with interest.

We stayed at the Lighthouse March 26 thru April 2. We loved the house. It had anything you might need for your stay. We had two of our Grandkids and our English Springer Spaniel Beau. The kids loved it and we really liked the porch with the gates for our pup. We saw dolphins almost every day while we were there and it was great walking on the beach. There is so much to do with the kids. We love the area esecially since we can have our pet with us. That means alot. The crate that was provided was perfect for Beau. We were not ready to head home and would stay there again when we go back. Thanks for letting us use your home. It was perfect for us and the grandkids!!

My family (my husband, me, our 3 boys and our dog) stayed at this house. It's perfect! We loved the gated front porch--the boys and the dog spent hours out there playing. The house was so well stocked--we loved the kitchen and cooked almost every meal at the house. The 2 double beds in the master bedroom were great for our kids. We couldn't ask for a more perfect location--we tumbled down the steps and across the street onto the beautiful white, sandy beach. It was almost deserted--we took several sunset walks without another person in sight. Our favorite place was sitting on the front porch watching and listening to the waves. It was truly a magical place and we can't wait to go back!

My husband has been very ill and this little three week respite was wonderful. Out of the way, yet close to everything. The beach was almost exclusively "ours" during the time we stayed there. The couple we rented from we very accomodating, the kitchen was well appointed, everything we needed was there including dish television with all the football games, good reading lights and probably one of the best considerations was the confidence we had in the people from whom we rented. They checked in with us, left a little "welcoming" gift on the table and made us feel very good about staying in their home. Very warm and very professional. We hope to be able to return in the future.

Yes, this is our third visit to The Lighthouse and each has been very enjoyable. And once again we found it well maintained and clean, ready for our family. Karin and Michael have checked with us throughout the visit to see if we needed anything. We have found minimal evidence of the disaster in the Gulf and have enjoyed the beach, the water and the fishing. The beach patrols have quietly worked to maintain the quality of the beach and the surf. In our view, there is little reason to delay your visit to this beautiful place. We had extended family as our guests during our stay and The Lighthouse, the environment and the local businesses exceeded our expectations.

The cottage was perfect! It was clean and when you open the door, you see a bottle of wine and 2 glasses and you immediately feel right at home and know you made the right choice. We spent so much time in the swing, enjoying the view, getting to know the neighbors. It was the perfect vacation, so peaceful, so tranquil. The cottage has everything you need, from towels to cooking utensils. We definitely will go back!

We just returned from our stay at the Light House 6/7 -6/14/09. We had a wonderful time. The house was decorated as described by the owner. There were new appliances, great linens and towels, and HD TV. The beach was right across a lightly traveled street. The white sand beach was not crowded. The people we met on the beach were very friendly. This was a true family atmosphere. One of my favorite activities was riding my bicycle every morning out to the Fort Morgan ferry. This was a great 6 miles out and 6 miles back ride past the bay, gulf front homes, and the fort. Lastly, this rental is Sunday to Sunday. This is a huge benefit. We missed all the Saturday crowds both coming and going. Leaving, we were able to take the Fort Morgan Ferry over to Dauphin Island which shortened our trip back to Little Rock.

My husband and I along with Mille and Hannah (our wierner dogs) spent the week of May 10th in our comfort zone at The Lighthouse. It was so well equipped, clean, bright and location, location, location. We were right at the beach with all the room we needed. Our mornings and evenings in the swing with the ocean breezes are part of our wonderful memories. Just located 14 miles from the stores and restaurants on the strip. Our family really enjoyed our choice to visit your slice of heaven, thank you Jeanne and Jack.

We stayed at The Lighthouse at Fort Morgan Beach for a long weekend Valentine's getaway in 2009. What a wonderful beach house! The decor is beautiful - very bright and cheery. All we needed to thoroughly enjoy our beach stay was there -- satellite TV, videos, games, and books for rainy times we were lazy and stayed inside; a wonderful deck and gazebo with a cozy swing and view of the Gulf for the sunny times we stayed around the house outside; and -- best of all -- the beach is right across the street in front of the house! The beach and Gulf views (many times including dolphins in the Gulf!) were beautiful from the windows and the front deck. The bedding and bath towels were very plush; there were even beach towels. The kitchen had all we needed to cook up wonderful seafood (and breakfast and snacks)! This is an awesome house in a great location, with beautiful (and comfortable!) furniture and decor. Obviously a lot of love and attention was put into decorating and outfitting this house. It was a very comfortable and wonderful place to spend some time at the beach! We really appreciate that well-behaved dogs are permitted; it is wonderful to get to take our "kids" with us on vacation. We hope to come back again and again. Thank you all so much for sharing your wonderful beach house with us! Anne & BT (and Gordon & Ziggy)
