This spectacular home is centrally located down east with easy access to other great Maine recreational destinations. We have a folder of ideas in the home.
A few testimonials are...' Thank you again for letting us share your piece of heaven. It is so difficult to return to the same place and not be disappointed. But all our expectations were met and surpassed. We hope to come here many times more'. 'We have seen almost all- bald eagles, osprey, dolphins, and a seal from the deck'. Renters from Texas
'Your attention to detail made it hard to leave this house! Even though we came to see the sights we looked forward to waking up (the 1st morning it felt like I was on a boat) and ending our day with the gorgeous sunset and stars. Thanks for sharing this blissful place! Your unique home added so much to our Down East experience, besides the busy lobster boats and kayaks in front of your home and the bald eagle oscillating between islands...in summary, we totally enjoyed your secret Cape Split Maine hideaway and our 1st Maine visit'. Renters from California The home and environment are #1!

In its own special and very genuine way, this lovingly built and cared for home could not be more perfect. The description I read somewhere that it is "a jewel box above the ocean" is perfectly apt. There is little that I can add to the reviews already placed here. Except one. To Pam and Peter for opening what is clearly their labor of love and dream home, sharing It represents a true generosity of spirit. Many thanks. My husband and I were extremely pleased with our stay at Cape Split. It was every bit as spectacular as the pictures displayed online. We appreciated the tasteful furnishings, and the obvious attention to cleanliness. Your home had so much character! The Master Bedroom is one you will want to wake up with each day for the rest of your life. The view off the deck was breathtaking, and we were thrilled with our siting of eagles at 7AM. Thanks again to our wonderful hosts for an unforgettable vacation.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

What a great home to relax in! We stayed here for 4 days before heading off to Bar Harbor to hike and it was the perfect way to start our vacation. The web site description and pictures are exact. The second bedroom (not pictured) is equally inviting as is the loft at the very top of the house - which was a great place to read AND enjoy the view. We loved watching the lobster boats come in every morning!! We walked around the cape each day and ventured out by car to Machias and Easport - both well worth the drives. My only complaint is that I couldn't find a pizza cutter :) in the kitchen. Thanks to Pam and Peter for sharing their lovely home!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

My wife Elaine & I were looking for a place to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We had been to Maine 3 times before to a large family house. This time we were looking for a private, secluded place to cocoon, read & rejuvenate. What we found was a little shingle cottage so well designed & perfectly detailed that we were sure that it was an architect's home until we found out differently. Peter has gotten it right and I say this with some experience in what right is: Fabulous site-remote but beautiful, wildlife is abundant, especially Eagles, entrance garden-bountiful even in fall, hiking path- smothered in ferns, moss, lichens glistening in the rain & mist, fireplace burns like a blowtorch with an endless supply of split birch wood, kitchen-made for cooks- the knives could be sharper but the view is great from kitchen as well as the master bedroom bath & really everywhere in the house, fresh lobster is available from the neighbors & clams for chowder just down the road in South Addison. As a lifelong photographer, I took the best sunset shot of my career off their deck on a tripod. We took 7 books between the 2 of us & read most of them. If you love nature & beauty, this is the place for you, but don't expect to drive out for dinner!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+.

The pictures make this house look magical, and the house is magical. Arriving at the house, seeing the house and the view of the ocean beyond, it really is breathtaking. It's such a pretty house, it's tough to leave. But we went kayaking nearby at whale cove, went to the sardine museum and model train museum in Jonesport, hiking at Great Wass Nature Preserve, visited friends near Machias, drove to Acadia (crowded, duh), lay on the deck at night watching shooting stars, watched bald eagles perch in the trees, went on a lobster boat tour, went swiming at the local bar beach, whale cove, and sandy river beach, and ate dinner at Tall Barney's in Jonesport. Fresh flowers on the table when we arrived. Practical stuff: One kid slept in the second bedroom, which is very nice, another kid slept on the fold-out futon in the second floor sunroom. If we had a third kid he could sleep in the 3rd floor eagles nest (a great place to read or work on your novel). Wonderful stained glass, wonderful views, wonderful carpentry and craftsmanship.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

All we can say is WOW!!! We'd been talking of this adorable place since 2006 when we saw it highlighted in " Coastal Living". So finally went with our buddies of 44 years. And we were not disappointed -- it was just as perfect as the pictures! Tons of quiet & privacy too, but best of all, Gorgeous Views out every window!! In our MB we felt like we were on a ship's "bridge" looking over the ocean. We woke up to Bald Eagles soaring by, and lobster boats trolling the waters out our windows - and that was from our bed! This quaint cottage shines with the thought & care of its owners! We also bought lobster off the boats-had 2 huge lobster feasts in "our" cottage.( Our hosts had all tools necessary for cooking them.) We went into a little Jonesport restaurant several times for their wonderful seafood & Maine hospitality -- even ordered blueberry pie & popovers ahead to take out! Talk about livin!! And don't miss Acadia N.PK. and puffin trip--both near by. Enjoy!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.
