Big Rock Cabana is situated on a magical 640 feet of white coral sand beachfront on the South Shore of Utila. The construction of your luxury cabana was completed in the fall of 2008. In addition, the South Shore’s most magnificent dock was completely rebuilt. This retreat is for the adventurous couple looking to truly get away from it all. Come, see for yourself, the magic that is Big Rock.
Big Rock Cabana is a two-room cabana designed in a traditional island style. The two rooms consist of a living room and a bedroom. The cabana also has a galley-style kitchen and bathroom. The total amount of air-conditioned space is just over 900 square feet.
However, Big Rock Cabana is not an ordinary cabin. Care has been taken to equip it with high-end fixtures and furnishings for your comfort. High-end Minke indoor/outdoor fans, soothing Indonesian-inspired outdoor light fixtures, handcrafted island-style furniture including a canopy bed covered in beautiful mosquito/sand fly netting and accented with Asian lighting all combine to provide you with a comfortable place to rest your head and relax after a long day of diving, fishing, swimming, hiking or just lazing around.
Other touches include tiled counter tops in the kitchen, a vessel sink in the bathroom and a glass block shower to provide you with a luxurious place to call your temporary home. Although fairly constant trade wind breezes often eliminate the need for air-conditioning, the entire cabana is cooled by two high-efficiency split unit air conditioners. For true comfort, we have included high thread count linens and spa-quality towels for your use.
The kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need to enjoy a romantic dinner for two, indoors or out. There is ample storage space for a week's worth of groceries. We also have a screened-in porch for that last little bit of outdoor time in the evenings.
On those days when it rains (it's rare, but depending on the season, it happens), we have a TV and DVD player for your use. We keep a small selection of movies in the cabana that you are welcome to view, but we encourage our guests to bring a few of their own choices. We also have a wide range of traditional board games for your use and a small "library" for the avid readers among you.

Stayed at Big Rock for 8 days in March. WHAT A PLACE!! We had a wonderful trip. I have to compliment Trey on his team's arrangements! There was not even a single glitch. Even though there was a very laid back atmosphere, everything happened at the arranged times and nothing ever seemed to be too much trouble for anybody. We loved the cabana, the crow's nest, the diving, snorkeling, salva vidas and the team. From Mario that kept an eye on everything to Rusty and Hans with their patience with the kids and Andy with his arrangements for pick up etc. Our children (10 & 13) got to do their Junior Open Water certification with Hans - they were really nervous to start off with, but he got them comfortable in the water with playing frisbee underwater and all different activities. Hans and Rusty made it even more memorable and it felt like leaving family behind when we left at the end of the week. Can't wait till next year to return to Utila and hopefully Big Rock.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

This is a beautiful, secluded slice of Utila. The house itself is very tasteful, comfortable, and blends subtly into the sublime natural setting. The beachfront is spectacular, from the private rocky cove to the gorgeous dock, to the reefs just offshore which are world-class for diving, but also even for simple snorkeling. The owner is great, the property managers are totally cool, the boat captain is knowledgeable and completely reliable, and the divemaster is a doll. Even the on-site caretakers are sweet (which you might only discover if you speak Spanish). If I had more than two thumbs, I'd put them ALL up. :)Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
