Now is the time to begin planning for your summer holiday. The Homestead Hideaway IS the perfect place to rest and play. There's nothing better than a 5 minute walk to Whitefish Beach Park after a cup of coffee on your private upper deck in the morning, or a glass of wine watching the sun set over the lake. Your holiday here will be one you'll never forget!

This historic home has been restored recently and is located conveniently between downtown Whitefish and the base of Big Mountain. The peaceful serenity of a country setting is less than a mile to shops, restaurants and night life. The 800 SF upper level – with private entrance – is all yours.

The view of the lake from your upstairs quarters is beautiful and you will probably see deer in the backyard in the morning and evenings. This land was purchased in 1919 when Whitefish was known as "Stump Town" and has the original log cabin with bunkbeds that can be used for a true Montana experience complete with Great Grandma's wood cookstove...(Decorative only!)

There is a path on the side of this acre and a half property that is two blocks to City Beach. New pedestrian and bike paths will take you to town for shopping and dining, or for a leisurely walk to the lake and along the river. Enjoy the evening on the deck or in the spacious backyard for an outside barbecue and a game of badminton. You'll feel at peace and "away from it all" the moment you reach the top of the stairs to your private hideaway!

We are 12 miles from Glacier International Airport (FCA) and 27 miles from Glacier National Park. Once you arrive in Whitefish, you cross the bridge over the railroad tracks heading north towards Big Mountain. Two minutes later you are heading down a long private drive leading to your "country home in the city!"

Whitefish and the surrounding area offer something for everyone, from the greatest of outdoor activities to fine dining, theatre, art and LOTS of night life...and after it all, you come "home" to "the woods in the city" to rest up for your next day's adventures!

Perfect place to recharge your batteries!

Just looking at these pictures makes me want to jump on a plane and get back to Whitefish! I stayed here for 2 weeks at the beginning of September and can't say enough good things about the house and about Donna- both were perfect for me. The upstairs of the house is so quaint and full of sweet touches and has everything you need for a perfect getaway. Donna is so full of knowledge about the area and is always available for answering questions. Whitefish is such a quaint little town- full of outdoor activities, a great nightlife, delicious food....I could go on an on about the area. I spent days at Whitefish Lake, in Glacier National Park and just exploring the area. Again, I can't say enough good things about the Homestead Hideaway. I can't wait to get back!

Great Place to Hideaway and Relax

Our family (4) stayed for a week while in the area visiting family and enjoying a short vacation. We really enjoyed how comfortable everything was and how helpful Donna was. My personal favorite was being able to enjoy coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening while sitting on the deck looking at the lake. We will definitely looking into staying again when we are back in the area.

family vacation

The Homestead Hideway was the perfect place for our vacation in the West Glacier area of Montana. Our party consisted of my wife and I (the grandparents), our daughter and her husband and our grandson, and the room arrangement worked out perfectly. Plus we had two friends of our daughter join us for part of the week and they enjoyed staying in the rustic cabin which is on the property, and we all easily shared the bathroom and kitchen facilities. The apartment is not fancy, but the view of Whitefish Lake from our large deck was beautiful and the sunsets were spectacular. We took our 3 year old grandson to the city beach almost every day, a 5 minute walk, and it was the perfect place forr kids- water not very cold. And the nearby town of Whitefish is a fun place and only about 30 minutes from Glacier National Park. Our friendly host Donna made sure everything was taken care of, and offered many eating and sightseeing tips. We would definitely go back.

What a wonderfully comfortable and peaceful place! Lovely views of the lake, nice breeze, and comfy beds. Donna is a terrific host and I only wish I had time to get to visit with her more. Chloe the "shaved cat" was a special treat, and there's fabulous reading material. This was the perfect stop on our trip and we highly recommend it! Thank you, Donna.

Perfect Getaway

Lovely upstairs apartment, deck views to Whitefish Lake. Kitchen is an "efficiency" ie no oven, but all kinds of small appliances are supplied. Owner is onsite and low key - very helpful but not overbearing. Perfect location - quiet residential area, a short walk to the Lake beach or a bit farther into town.

Our stay at property # 213118

Guest: Alvin & Eva (Osler, Sask. Canada)
Date of Stay: 08/07/10 Review Submitted: 08/22/10

We arrived on Aug. 07/10 and spent 6 wonderful days in the flathead area with our children. We thoroughly enjoyed our lodging at our mountain hideaway. As was stated in some of the other reviews the view is magnificent of the lake from the balcony. The last night of our stay we enjoyed using the barbecue facilities. Our 14 month old grandson loved running around in the back yard. The accomodations were more than adequate for the 3 of us that were staying there and I would recommend this place to anyone who is considering a visit to Whitefish.

excellent stay

Guest: Bro (Saskatoon, Canada)
Date of Stay: 08/01/10 Review Submitted: 08/21/10

My wife and I stayed five days at the homestead hideaway. The location is prefect as it is up on a hill overlooking the lake, still in town but away from any busy streets. It was very clean and cozy with a great view of the lake from the big deck off of the top floor. Lots to do and see in Whitefish but bring your bikes if you come as there is a nice system of bike paths to visit the town with. Donna was very helpful with suggestions of things to do and see, we had only been there in the winter so she helped a lot. We would recommend this property for a stay.

A Splendid Fourth of July

Guest: "The Sisters" (Oklahoma City, OK)
Date of Stay: 07/03/10 Review Submitted: 08/08/10

My sisters and I enjoyed a wonderful July 4th week at the Homestead Hideaway. The setting, especially the view of Whitefish Lake from the deck, is incredible. We loved the special historical character of the house and little cabin, and the upstairs hideway is clean, comfortable and nicely furnished -- a very nice place to get away! We will never forget the spectacular evening of fireworks over Whitefish Lake! Thanks Donna, for a great visit!

We stayed at the Homestead with our eleven-year-old grandson, our daughter and son-in-law. We all very much ejoyed our stay. Donna is a wonderful hostess who makes your stay very pleasant. We especially enjoyed the abundant wildlife (especially deer) who frequently visited the property. The accomodations are well maintained and are more than adequate for five people. My grandson enjoyed playing wiffle baseball in the large yard. Probably one of the most enjoyable aspects is the breathtaking view of the lake from the patio. It is truly beautiful. Air conditioning helps to keep the unit cool on warm afternoons. Also available on the property is a rustic cabin ideal for extra family and for just hanging out on the front porch. My brother, visiting from Spokane, slept there for two nights and was very comfortable. I highly recommend staying here. It is very affordable and will satisfy all of your needs.
