Just looking at these pictures makes me want to jump on a plane and get back to Whitefish! I stayed here for 2 weeks at the beginning of September and can't say enough good things about the house and about Donna- both were perfect for me. The upstairs of the house is so quaint and full of sweet touches and has everything you need for a perfect getaway. Donna is so full of knowledge about the area and is always available for answering questions. Whitefish is such a quaint little town- full of outdoor activities, a great nightlife, delicious food....I could go on an on about the area. I spent days at Whitefish Lake, in Glacier National Park and just exploring the area. Again, I can't say enough good things about the Homestead Hideaway. I can't wait to get back!

What a wonderfully comfortable and peaceful place! Lovely views of the lake, nice breeze, and comfy beds. Donna is a terrific host and I only wish I had time to get to visit with her more. Chloe the "shaved cat" was a special treat, and there's fabulous reading material. This was the perfect stop on our trip and we highly recommend it! Thank you, Donna.

The Homestead Hideway was the perfect place for our vacation in the West Glacier area of Montana. Our party consisted of my wife and I (the grandparents), our daughter and her husband and our grandson, and the room arrangement worked out perfectly. Plus we had two friends of our daughter join us for part of the week and they enjoyed staying in the rustic cabin which is on the property, and we all easily shared the bathroom and kitchen facilities. The apartment is not fancy, but the view of Whitefish Lake from our large deck was beautiful and the sunsets were spectacular. We took our 3 year old grandson to the city beach almost every day, a 5 minute walk, and it was the perfect place forr kids- water not very cold. And the nearby town of Whitefish is a fun place and only about 30 minutes from Glacier National Park. Our friendly host Donna made sure everything was taken care of, and offered many eating and sightseeing tips. We would definitely go back.

Our family (4) stayed for a week while in the area visiting family and enjoying a short vacation. We really enjoyed how comfortable everything was and how helpful Donna was. My personal favorite was being able to enjoy coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening while sitting on the deck looking at the lake. We will definitely looking into staying again when we are back in the area.

Lovely upstairs apartment, deck views to Whitefish Lake. Kitchen is an "efficiency" ie no oven, but all kinds of small appliances are supplied. Owner is onsite and low key - very helpful but not overbearing. Perfect location - quiet residential area, a short walk to the Lake beach or a bit farther into town.

We arrived on Aug. 07/10 and spent 6 wonderful days in the flathead area with our children. We thoroughly enjoyed our lodging at our mountain hideaway. As was stated in some of the other reviews the view is magnificent of the lake from the balcony. The last night of our stay we enjoyed using the barbecue facilities. Our 14 month old grandson loved running around in the back yard. The accomodations were more than adequate for the 3 of us that were staying there and I would recommend this place to anyone who is considering a visit to Whitefish.

My wife and I stayed five days at the homestead hideaway. The location is prefect as it is up on a hill overlooking the lake, still in town but away from any busy streets. It was very clean and cozy with a great view of the lake from the big deck off of the top floor. Lots to do and see in Whitefish but bring your bikes if you come as there is a nice system of bike paths to visit the town with. Donna was very helpful with suggestions of things to do and see, we had only been there in the winter so she helped a lot. We would recommend this property for a stay.

We stayed at the Homestead with our eleven-year-old grandson, our daughter and son-in-law. We all very much ejoyed our stay. Donna is a wonderful hostess who makes your stay very pleasant. We especially enjoyed the abundant wildlife (especially deer) who frequently visited the property. The accomodations are well maintained and are more than adequate for five people. My grandson enjoyed playing wiffle baseball in the large yard. Probably one of the most enjoyable aspects is the breathtaking view of the lake from the patio. It is truly beautiful. Air conditioning helps to keep the unit cool on warm afternoons. Also available on the property is a rustic cabin ideal for extra family and for just hanging out on the front porch. My brother, visiting from Spokane, slept there for two nights and was very comfortable. I highly recommend staying here. It is very affordable and will satisfy all of your needs.

My sisters and I enjoyed a wonderful July 4th week at the Homestead Hideaway. The setting, especially the view of Whitefish Lake from the deck, is incredible. We loved the special historical character of the house and little cabin, and the upstairs hideway is clean, comfortable and nicely furnished -- a very nice place to get away! We will never forget the spectacular evening of fireworks over Whitefish Lake! Thanks Donna, for a great visit!

My husband and I stayed at the Whitefish Homestead Hideaway in June 2010. Had a very comfortable stay here! Especially enjoyed the deck off the loft that gives a beautiful view of the lake. It was nice to sit and relax there on the couple of sunny days and enjoy our evening cocktails. The day we arrived there were deer grazing in the yard. Located on a private road so it is truly a hideaway. The loft is quaint and lovely. Enjoyed visiting with Donna, a lovely lady, who is a local and knowledgeable about the area.

Beautiful Experence!!! We all felt Very Blessed with Donna's hospitalty and The Homestead Hideaway's Montana charm. From every window it was as if your in the tree tops. In the morning, walking down the hall to the living area your able to look out on Whitefish Lake. With 5 adults, we had plenty of room. Grandma enjoyed the view while reading a book. Our daughter & her husband said the futon was better than their bed at home. We were all very compfortable here and Donna was always helpful with places to eat or to visit. The location is great for visiting the Glacier Park, Big Mountian & the Flathead Valley.

We stayed at the Whitefish Homestead Hideaway in August 2009. It was absolutely wonderful! The location is perfect for visiting the town of Whitefish and acts as a great base for nearby wilderness adventures. We found the homestead to be quiet, clean and very comfortable. Our teenage son stayed in the one room cabin also on the property. He really liked having is "own place". The view of the lake from the deck was a perfect spot for morning coffee and evening relaxation. The bathroom and shower were very spacious too. I have stayed in many other rentals that cost 3 times as much and weren't as nice. Highly recommended!

Homestead has an excellent location with a breath-taking view and an interesting history. Donna is the consummate hostess and went above and beyond what is required to ensure we had the vacation we had hoped for. In just one day, we forgot all about work and felt incredibly relaxed and grateful that such a place exists. The walk into town and the City Beach is easy and convenient. Invite Donna up to the deck to share in a cocktail - you won't regret it!

We had such a great time here in Whitefish. It is a beautiful town, wonderful area and perfect accomodations. We LOVE the Whitefish Homestead. It was the best location We walked to City Beach on the gorgeous lake everyday. We rode our bikes downtown, to parks and the farmer's market. We loved being able to relax every night and cook our own dinners while watching the lake off the deck. Thank you, Donna for being such a perfect host. We loved every one of your suggestions on where to go, hike, eat or play. You were so kind and friendly to us and of course our little Lily (age 2) just loves you. Everyday Lily asked if she could go talk to "Miss Donna" and the kitties. We could not have asked for a better place to be with our little girl. The yard was wonderful to have and to be able to cook our own meals was so perfect. She loved being able to go to the beach everyday and Donna, you were so sweet to set up the sprinkler for her and to bring her snacks. This was really our best family vacation yet. We hope to be back. Thank you!

My wife & I spent a week at the Whitefish Homestead Hideaway and enjoyed our time there very much. As other guests have commented, the view of the lake is wonderful and the location is nearly perfect. Donna is a great host and will be as interactive with you as you want her to be. A couple of caveats: 1) If you're over 6' tall you may have issues with bumping your head in the bathroom, living room and kitchen. I'm 6'4"... 2) This was not an issue for us but if you're concerned about security, you will want to make sure you get a key for the sliding patio door. We never got a key and didn't lock the place up once while we were there. 3) If you're not familiar with Whitefish... there are trains cutting through town at all times of the day and night which you will be able to hear from the bedroom of the rental house. If you're a light sleeper, consider this fair warning. Overall this is a great VRBO and we will likely stay with Donna again while we are visiting the Flathead Valley.

I treasure each of several visits in Sept and Oct when the area is in it's fall glory. The Whitefish Homestead Hideaway is on top of a hill, just the sky above and the lake below. It's so peaceful and comfortable, I had to make myself leave for a walk into town or a hike in Glacier. Thank you Donna for being such a gracious host.

My husband and I spent a week at this wonderful location while looking for a new home in the Flathead Valley. The apartment's layout is very convenient and the furnishings are attractive and comfortable. The property is hidden away on a knoll overlooking Whitefish Lake -- you feel like you are in the country, but you are within minutes of all the Whitefish amenities. I loved reading on the deck and checking out the views. And the owner treated us like valued friends. I highly recommend staying at this unique hideaway.

I have stayed here twice .... three weeks altogether... and definitely will return. The house is very comfortable and the owner is warm and friendly and interesting, and makes you feel very welcome. I love the trees, mountains and lake .... the view from the windows and deck are absolutely gorgeous, And you don't want to miss the historic town of Whitefish .... very charming ... and just a short drive or nice walk away. Glacier National Park is less than an hour's drive away .... so beautiful there. I will be back!

I found the apartment delightful with a gorgeous view of Whitefish Lake. The view can be enjoyed from the well-equipped kitchen, den and deck. I was thrilled to see wildlife stroll through the yard. The main bedroom is spacious and airy with the bathroom conviently across the hall. The nearby beach/park makes a perfect place for a picnic, lake dip, or beautiful walk. I was most comfortable and enjoyed the apartment and area tremendously.

I've stayed at the Whitefish Homestead Hideaway a couple of times with friends and really loved it. Recently a brought my new husband, who had never been to Montana. We had a great time swimming in Whitefish Lake--a short walk down the hill. Also, we drove all the way around Glacier National Park and saw a Black Bear--way up the hill, of course.

We have been staying at this unique home for two weeks each summer and winter and can never wait to get back! The upstairs apartment offers quiet respite in beautiful surroundings--providing privacy and nearby wonderful neighbors all around. We would recommend this spot in Whitefish to anyone who wants a peaceful, fun and lovely place to stay. Mountains and lake are nearby and it's ideal for a small family, couple or college friends.

My family has stayed at the Whitefish Homestead Hideaway for the last three years. We are booked again this year the first 2 weeks of July and can't wait! The facility is very comfortable, has a great deck that overlooks the lake. You can walk to the beach, and downtown is a 3 minute ride. Access to the Glacier National Park and Big Mountain and the whole Flathead region is all within a short drive. The owner is very accommodating and makes you feel at home. Oh! the kids love the old cabin (and so did my husband).
