Treefrogriverhouse (21590 Moscow road) is a delightful river house oasis, children and pets can enjoy the one-acre garden and play in the river while you entertain in the shade of the majestic towering redwoods or just read a good book on one of the sun decks overlooking the lazy river.
This house has a gated private riverfront path to the Russian river in Monte Rio, just 25 feet from the lower deck is the entrance to the winding steps down a very gradual slope to the water. The property is fenced but we recommend keeping dogs within sight at all times, we recently added a seperate stairway from the lower deck down to a 15x15 dog pen in the garden and made it secure so that our 3 pound puppy (Max) can't climb through any of the gaps in the deck railing or escape from the garden dog pen and they won't be able to chase the ducks down the river while your in the house.
Contact the owner for maps of the area, top view of the property and river level information. Guest’s can use any of the boats and life safety vests that Treefrog supplies. 2 single person ocean kayaks, 1 two-person ocean kayak and one 3-4-person canoe are included with the rental. Boat use is restricted in the high water winter months, usually between November and April.
On 4th of July weekend enjoy Monte Rio’s fireworks in privacy from the hot tub, BBQ area and spacious lawn; view the activities at the public beach from the river island or walk there in 10 minutes. Even though the public beach is nearby on the other side of the river you will have complete privacy because the Treefrog property is secluded enough that you seldom hear noise from the beach or other houses. Some of the restaurants on the river have live music and you can walk to them in ten minutes.
The riverside of the property is very private and all of the homes in the area are very well kept,
there are no houses on the right side of the house for half a mile and the closest house on the left is called Riverwood Cottage, about 150 feet away.

Wine tasting is nearby at the Martinelli winery on the way north east to more shops, art galleries and wineries in Healdsburg and Dry Creek road to Lake Sonoma.
Private parking included for three cars in front of the house and the same level as the main front entrance and the house, also there is a gated lower parking area for two cars.
All year the birds are plentiful but spring is obviously the best time for bird lovers. The most popular birds that frequent the Treefrog river property are Belted Kingfishers, Mergansers, Wood ducks, Ospreys, Egrets, Coots, Steller lays, Little Green Herons and Great Blue Herons. In spring you might be lucky enough to see an occasional harbor seal, some river otters and large steal head trout.
The long days of summer on the river are a favorite time for hanging out on the lawn late at night under the redwoods.
Fall still has warm days and nights and most of the tourists have gone home, but they missed one of the best times to enjoy the sunsets on the river that attract thousands of small jumping fish.
Winter can be enchanting for a lover’s weekend getaway, the large fireplace is great this time of year for a romantic mood after soaking in the Jacuzzi tub and feeling like all of your worries have washed away with the river. One day supply of firewood is provided from October through March.
Both bedrooms have unique artistic design, queen size pillow top beds, closets, dresser and comcast cable TV with DVD player. The maximum overnight guests allowed by our permit is six.
The larger bedroom with wood burning stove has a patio door that opens to the river view deck area close to the hot tub and the second bedroom also has a patio door that opens to the extra storage & laundry room area. Pillows and extra linen provided for the large sectional sofa that is so comfortable that some guest’s prefer to sleep in the living room in front of the fireplace.
The living room/dining room is spacious with vaulted wood ceilings, large dining table and six chairs, accent lighting and original artwork throughout the house created by the owner. LCD TV above the fireplace and a large sectional sofa and Blue ray entertainment. From the living room and bathroom you can access the river view redwood deck that spans the riverfront side of the house, a large picnic table and comfortable chairs make for nice outside summer dining. The hot tub and BBQ are also on the riverside of the deck, with an additional gas BBQ at the entrance area for cooking closer to the kitchen.
The kitchen has everything you will need to feel at home except food, coffee is in the freezer. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub, separate shower and plenty of towels. The house is equipped with an on-demand water heater so the last person in doesn’t have to worry about getting a cold shower and all of the rooms have recently upgraded heaters.

AWESOME stay! What an incredible house. There was a lot of thought put into every detail of this house and it shows. It was ablsolutely perfect for our stay. So many amenities that come w/ this house also: BBQs, multiple decks and outdoor lounging areas, hot tub, tv. We noticed also that the beautiful paintings in the house were by the owner. Treefrog River house definitely exceeded our expectations.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We had such a great time at the TreeFrog House! ~ From the moment we arrived until the day we departed it was full of great times enjoying the home, activities in the area, and especially the yard and kayaks! The whole set-up is so relaxing. We had a great balance of total relaxation and indulgence drinking mimos listening the birds, and days full of kayaking and swimming! There are many great activities to take part in. The primary reasons we selected this home was for the yard, pet friendly, river access, jacuzzi and the kayaks. The home did not disappoint on any level and we really enjoyed spending time with all the wonderful amenties. The size of the home is small, but four people would be very comfortable. The beds are just the best ~we all slept really well! You might hear some road traffic, but it is mimimal. The yard is HUGH! The area is perfect. You are in walking distance of a local market and close proximity to drive to Raymonds Bakery (Pizza and live music on Friday nights - FUN), Guerneville, Korbel and a trip to the beach! We really enjoyed it all and if you have an opportunity to enjoy this TreeFrogHouse ~ you just gotta go! We look forward to the next time! We loved the hot tub on the deck, and the central heating system! The weather was Cold while we were there, but we were just fine. The house is furnished well, with everything you could want to have. The frog sculptures are really fun! We enjoyed the views from the deck of the river, the birds, and the fishermen. It was close to Duncans Mills, and the Cape Fear Restaurant which was good for breakfast. Altogether, an enjoyable long weekend, and very relaxing.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We so much enjoyed our week's stay at Treefrog! Very cozy and great views of the river. Wonderful fireplace. Watching the birds and listening to the one night of rain on the roof was great. Enjoyed riding my bike around the town. Big bathroom and big tub although we did not use. We did use the hot tub outside. We enjoyed all the different decorative frogs around the house. And our Cockapoo Punkin love the big backyard. Really was nice to have the dog run when we did not want him in the big yard. Overall great cozy place to stay!! Definitely recommend the Treefrog!!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners.

We just spent the most relaxing and fun 3 nights at Treefrog River House. It is adorable and cozy and so comfortable. We brought our two dogs and they were in heaven. The large bathroom has a fabulous jacuzzi tub and a heater that looks like an old fashioned wood stove. It's electric and really heats up the bathroom. The view in the tub is out the sliding glass door and looks out onto trees and sky. Fabulous! The yard is huge and super private. It's an easy walk down to the river and there are two single kayaks, a double kayak, and a canoe. Lots of life vests too. Every time we went to the river the ducks would swim over. Very cute. The house is so comfortable and warm (this is in November). One reviewer mentioned too many knick knacks but I disagree completely. The decor is fun and I loved the owner's colorful artwork. The kitchen has everything you need including a new top of the line microwave. Loved having a large washer and dryer. I could go on and on... Absolutely recommend this place. You will not be disappointed. We can't wait to return!!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

I've stayed here before for my birthday and immediately thought of Tree Frog when my boyfriend and I wanted a much needed getaway for the weekend. I LOVE this house - it's so private and relaxing. The house is really clean and comfortable. We had a fire every night in the bedroom and stepped outside to cook our dinners on the large gas bbq. The last night we had a fire down in the fire pit on the awesome lawn...plenty of room for outdoor activities and I love that we have our private little river front beach with kayaks - we took the kayakes out every day and fished from them. The hot tub was amazing to sit in each night looking up at all of the stars/planets and the moon. The couch in the living room was so comfortable I had to force myself off of it to go outside. The bathroom is roomy and stays really warm with the little timed heater. The tub looked really nice but I didn't use it as I soaked in the hot tub each night. Super close to Monte Rio market - you can walk there if need be. I can't wait to our next visit...in the meantime, my boyfriend drew a picture of the view from the deck which I hung in my bedroom so I can go to my relaxing "happy" place whenever I need to!! The owners were super easy to work with and really responsive to any emails I sent. I give Tree Frog 5 stars and would give it more if possible!!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We spent a few days at the river house and had a fantastic time. The yard is so beautiful and relaxing! Having access to the river right on the property made it so easy for us to enjoy the river anytime. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Can't wait to go back again. We enjoyed a week's stay in August at Tree Frog. The view from the living room and deck was just beautiful, we enjoyed kayaking up the river, followed by hot dogs at Dons Dogs in Monte Rio. Everything was clean and comfortable and I'd recommend Tree Frog River House. We would also recommend Up and Away balloon tours and Sonoma County Zip Wire Centre, both of which are fairly close by.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

We had a wonderful stay at the Treefrog River House. Everything was just as it was promised. The house was clean and the garden was just magnificent. I practiced Yoga on the deck every morning. My kids loved the river and the kayaking. The 2nd room is small and the loft has very low ceiling. That's probably the only issue we had with it but it's still a great place to stay. Oh, yes. Our dog loved it too. The best vacation she ever had. The place also had two BBQ grills which we used one evening when we didn't feel like going out. We liked having dinner overlooking the river and the fully stocked kitchen made it easy for us to prepare breakfast every morning.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Our stay at Treefrog was great for us humans and our dogs!! Luckily for us the weather was sunny and warm so we were able to take advantage of the kayaks and canoe. During the exursions we saw an abundance of wildlife. We even waded out to the island with the dogs and a bottle of wine. The yard was gorgeous, the hot tub perfect, and the couch so relaxing. The frog decor is extremely cute and appropriate and the owner's artwork throughout the house is lovely. The kitchen did lack a few basic items (previous guest's sticky fingers, perhaps?) like measuring cups/spoons, blender, etc. but at least the store and deli in Monte Rio is within walking distance. We've been to quite a few vacation rentals around California and The Treefrog House is definitely a keeper!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

About the owner: This year I have made many changes to the property that will make your vacation even more relaxing and enjoyable. Thank all of you who have taken such good care of the house. For people traveling to the Russian river Monte Rio area for the first time there a few ways to get to the house, GPS and Mapquest will direct you off highway 101 going Northwest through Sebastopol, this is the shortest way if you are coming from the San Francisco airport. After passing through Sebastopol you will go through Occidental, a small town that should be on your list of places to visit while in the area, Monte Rio is 10 minutes after that, people who get car sick easily should be careful. A longer but more direct way if you can avoid the weekly afternoon traffic is going West on River road North of Santa Rosa, this way passes many vineyards including Martinelli winery and Korbel cellars. Ten minutes before you get to Monte Rio there is a Safeway supermarket in Guerneville for supplies. For a more adventurous trip pass through the old town of Petaluma shortly after crossing the Sonoma county line and go west to Bodega bay for fresh sea food and a 30 minute drive along the coastal beaches before you get to the Russian river, this is were River road meets the ocean, go East along the river and you will turn right onto Moscow road at Duncan’s Mills. The Treefrog house is 10 more minutes away from Duncan’s Mills. If you are flying domestically you might want to check the Santa Rosa airport (STS) “Charles M Schulz airport”.
