A lovingly restored and modernized country farmhouse on 20+ wooded acres -- with a spring-fed pond and an architect-designed pool and pool house -- in the most tranquil and beautiful natural setting you can imagine. In winter, you're just 45 minutes from some of the best winter sports in the northeast; in summer, you have a paradise right outside your door.
Throughout the house you'll find wide-plank country floors, hand-milled from the pines that grew here when the original house was built in the 1850's. We've opened up the spaces to give the house a more contemporary flow, and added all the amenities you need and want: wireless broadband internet, satellite TV on a big flat screen, a steam room and a fully equipped cook's kitchen. The pool is heated, and the pool house has its own kitchenette, outdoor shower and handsome stone fireplace.
Dominated by century-old maples, ashes and spruce, the grounds are so stately that the young son of visiting friends once exclaimed, "Mom, Dad, they have their own park!" We've also spent 20 years planting many gardens with thousands of perennials and shrubs that turn the landscape into a Technicolor wonderland from May through September. Our little corner of the world is so beautiful and un-gentrified, you would never think it's just two hours from Manhattan. A lot of cows, a lot of corn, and salt-of-the-earth people who appreciate the beauty of open farmland and one of the prettiest natural settings in the Northeast.
