I posted an earlier review and forgot to mention, the only down fall was once every 5 years they pave the main road to the house and we had to cut our trip short due to that. It was last minute notification. We had it from Sunday to Sunday but due to the road being paved on Thursday we left on Wednesday as we had to take one of our sons to the airport on Thursday. We had planned on taking family pictures on Wednesday evening so we had to change that to Sacramento, we wanted to come back up on Friday but after loading everythng we figured best not having to unload again on Friday to leave again Sunday morning. But the few days we were there we truly enjoyed.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: I was out of the country on a birthday trip during your visit and let you now that I was to be away. The decision as to when the road was to be paved happened during my absence. I talked to the man who was in charge of setting up the paving schedule and he told me th that the road would be closed from 7 :30 - 6 p.m. on one day during your visit. There was possible parking at the top of the road as well as on a nearby road; however there would have been a walk through the trees and I recognize how inconvenient it is to not use the main road to get to my home. You were notitfied by the Road Commitee before my return and also by my housekeeper that there would be one day when the road could not be used during the daytime hours. I am sorry for any inconvenience you may have had. It is too bad you did not plan an activity to do in the area that day because there are many special things to see and then you could havereturned to my cottage after six p.m. when the sealing would have been finished and dry. Many don't leave the Lake House once they are there and spend all their time on the lake without driving anywhere. The lane to my house was not being sealed, nor was my driveway, but only the main road. I am so sorry that you had to leave and did not come back because the house was awaiting your return since it had been reserved for you. Should you wish to use my cottage in the future, I will allow you to stay for one weeknight free of charge to make up for any difficulty you may have encountered due to the road sealing issue. Again, I am most sorry that this had to happen during your stay. Owner

About the owner: I love Nature and my favorite setting is spending time at my cottage on Lake Combie. I am also a traveler and am happiest when exploring other cultures and distant locations.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Combie:
I grew up in the South and my family had a 'Camp' on a recreational lake. My happiest memories were those at that lake when I was water skiing and swimming with family and friends. After moving to the West, it became my dream to find a 'California Camp' and give my own children a similar lakeside experience. We have now owned this property for almost 30 years and it is still my fondest place to visit. Now I have grand children with which to share this most special of lakeside retreats.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Nature! Nature! Nature! My favorite experience is awakening in the early morning and seeing mist rising from the lake. It is also wonderful fun to go exploring by boat and visit an area of marshland not far from the dam that reminds me of the southern lake that I so loved growing up in Louisiana.
