Casa Tranquila is a beautiful oceanfront get-away just waiting for you to come, relax, and enjoy all it has to offer. You can get some R&R inside with the newly renovated interior or relax in the wading pool, on the lower level, complete with a fountain overlooking the beach and gorgeous, turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. The sun rises over the Caribbean. The magnificent views of Mujeres Bay are on the other side of the home where you can watch the sunset. All of this can be seen from the large palapa covered balcony where you can rest in a hammock or on a lounger, and there is plenty of space for outside dining.
Casa Tranquila is a comfortable 1/2 mile walk to town where there are shops and restaurants. A taxi ride is $1USD from the house to town. Bicycles come with the rental at no additional charge. As a thank you a "welcome gift basket" will be waiting for you when you arrive.
The lower level of the house consists of a living room with comfortable leather furniture, a full bath, a fully equipped kitchen, and an oceanfront dining room. The upper level consists of two bedrooms- one is oceanfront and the other is roadside. They each have queen beds and Egyptian cotton linens. The upstairs bathroom is all marble with a large bath tub as well as a shower. The towels and washcloths for both bathrooms are a soft Egyptian cotton also.

Why the Owner Chose Isla Mujeres
We had spent a lot of money on renting places to stay on the island over the years, so we thought it would be great to see about having our own place. We were able to get this property at a bargain, so we were able to have it renovated to our liking. Within another four months it was ready. One thing lead to another, so we decided to rent it when we were not going to be there.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The natives of the island are/were just always so kind and likable- they make/made us feel like royalty! It didn't take long for us to also get to know a lot of other Americans and Canadians who were there or would come down to the island frequently. It is just so peaceful and relaxing at Casa Tranquila- the ocean waves, the magnificent sunrises and sunsets, the beach, just everything! It is so convenient to town, the shops, and restaurants. Eating at all the different restaurants is still a hobby of ours! We have always enjoyed walking the island, riding bicycles, going to the zoo, visiting the turtle farm, exploring the island, and the dolphin discovery is fantastic! This is still our little paradise!!
It is #19 on the Airport Rd.- just south of and directly beside the Cablemas (cable TV and internet office). Located about 1/2 mile from the ferry, shops, and restaurants. It is about 3/4 of a mile
Daytime restaurant and 2 bars with a pretty white sand beach where you can spend the day and use the chairs, umbrellas, and mattresses as long as you order food and/or drinks.
There is a small private airport on the roadside of Casa Tranquila-the road runs between the airport and Casa Tranquila.
There are 2 foot ferries that come from Cancun-the older ferry line is from Puerto Juarez and the newer one is from Puerto Cancun (the big yellow boats-Ultra Mar).

Garell is originally from the eastern part of Tennessee and I had lived in Virginia, Delaware, western Maryland, eastern Maryland, and southern New Jersey prior to living in Tennessee for 32 years now. Garell and I have been married for 36 years and have one son and one daughter who are both married and have given us 4 lovely grandchildren. We have some very good friends who had been going down to Isla Mujeres, MX. for many years and they told us about the island. So, we tried it, loved it, and got hooked! We found ourselves spending a number of vacations on the island and not really caring about going anywhere else for vacation. After going down there for about 8 years we started looking for a place of our own. We found a piece of property with a run down one-story house on it on the Caribbean side of the island. It was owned by an American. Garell spoke on the phone with the realtor and the owner. We came back home and thought about it and decided to go back and try to buy it. When we went back, we had only been there a day when a sign went up on what is now Casa Tranquila. We checked on it, decided we wanted it, and started the process of acquiring it. The other property sold while we were there. We were able to close on what is now Casa Tranquila about 5 months later. That was in 2003.
