Why the Owner Chose Squaw Valley (Olympic Valley)
We brought this house so long ago when our children were toddlers because it was so close to the mountain. I love the view of the meadow in the morning and all day long. We have had many happy times there.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
It's great being so close to the village especially after a day of skiing when the traffic can be troublesome...but for us we are home in 5 minutes. Never a problem if you have forgotten something....not to far to go back.

We had a great weekend in this cozy house just minutes from Squaw. Ten of us stayed there and there was enough room for us all to sleep comfortably in our own beds, eat together around one table and spend a very fun night hanging out in the living room. The hot tub was awesome and the kitchen is well-stocked for cooking feasts. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends!
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, pet owners, families with teenagers.
The worst rental experience of my life.

I have rented various properties throughout the country from various agencies, and this experience was, by far, the worst rental experience I have ever had. When we arrived the first night and went to bed, we found that the mattress and bedding were completely soaked. We called the owner and informed her of the situation. Her response was to ask us to dry the bedding and remake the bed ourselves. Given that the mattress was soaked as well, we informed her that not only did we want to be responsible for doing laundry and making beds on our night of arrival, but that would simply not work due to the wet mattress. Therfore, at 1:00 a.m, we found ourselves dragging uncomfortable mattresses from the twin beds in the next room on top of the box springs, and, alas, making the beds ourselves. The roof continued to leak on us throughout the night (we could not change bedrooms as the others were occupied) and the next day, the promised repairman did not show up. After another sleepless, wet night and repeated phone calls to the owner, the repairman finally showed up the afternoon before the day of our departure. Finally, over a month later, we received less than half of the amount we felt we should have been reimbursed. Needless to say, the house is in worse condition than the pictures would lead you to believe, and the owner is simply non-responsive. Finally, the hot tub took over 24 hours to heat. I would never recommend this property to rent
Owner response:Please note that because of the severe weather changes that occurred that weekend ice dams formed on many of the houses in Olympic Valley. This occurs when you have very cold weather then warm then cold.Ice forms on the drains and when it warms up the water goes over the ice dam and sometimes water goes under the roof to cause a leak. I was very apologetic and said that I had additional linens and comforters. Please note that this was about 9pm or later. Unfortunately, they did have to remake their bed as it was impossible to get someone over there at that time. They did not have to do any laundry. My maintenance man came over the very next morning and made sure the drain was working. They also started to shovel all the snow off the roof. In addition he checked the bedroom and saw that the leak had stopped. He also came by the next 2 days to check on everything. The day the renters left he checked the mattress and saw that it was not wet and that there was no water damage, in fact the mattress was on the bed and had been slept on. The cleaners arrived the next afternoon. They said that the house was the worst they had cleaned this season. They had left crab legs in the garbage so the house smelled. There was also wine and food stains on the couch, and the chairs. The cleaners said that it was evident they did not care what condition they left the house in. These people I know were inconvenienced and I totally agree they should be reimbursed for this and they were. Unfortunately, I was away for 2 weeks because of a family emergency and did not get a check out to them until the following month. I have been renting this house for 8 years and have been lucky to have many repeat renters. I take offense that they say the pictures were not true. As far as the hot tub, it had been drained and cleaned that day and as it said in our opening instructions you must turn it on immediately upon arrival. They came late and I'm not sure when they turned it on. I sincerely regret their inconvenience but the mountains can be unpredictable. The leak was not caused because of a bad roof but because of the severe weather we received that week.
