My husband & I had searched for a place to vacation on the Key without much success, the HomeAway site was our last attempt to find the perfect place for our vacation.....and we found it. The cottage was absolutely fantastic, the decor and layout were great and it came furnished with everything you needed. The grounds were breathtaking and each day you would discover something new and taking a dip in the saltwater pool to cool off was the best. The beach area was slightly different from the pictures, but that is all part of the ever changing beauty of the ocean. You can access the beach, take long walks, sit under the palm trees & read, fish, swim, watch the boats go by and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The Mirmans are delightful people who gave us many helpful suggestions for restaurants, grocery store/farmers market and sightseeing adventures. We enjoyed the tour of the grounds when we arrived and took many pictures of the variety of lush tropical plants. We would absolutely recommend this for the perfect vacation location, if you want to feel total relaxation, like time stands still this is the place.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I spent a week here in the most charming cottage located amid a lovely Tropical Paradise. It was entertaining watching the wildlife amid the Tropical Rainforest and enjoying the tropical breezes in the evening on the patio. The salt water pool was beautiful and refreshing. We fell in love with the area of Siesta Key and definitely will return. For anyone looking for a charming cottage in a Tropical Paradise, this is the spot. Our hosts were wonderful. Thank you for a great week.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We had such a good time here. The owners house is just a bit close, but were all but invisible while we were there. But they did offer great advice on things to do and places to eat. (The Sandbar was superb!) The beach was small and private directly in front of the house, but you could walk as far as you wanted. Would recommend. Thank you!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My daughter and I stayed at the cottage for a one week mother-daughter get-away. We were enchanted and delighted by the cottage, the gardens and the warm hospitality that we received from the owners. The cottage was immaculate and very comfortable. The view of the gardens and the gulf was breath-taking. The owners were very helpful and responsive. They offered us many ideas for short adventures on Siesta Key and Sarasota. We were completely satisfied and hope to return soon!Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

The cottage is not private; it is surrounded by the very large owner's house, and the cottage bathroom, with no curtains on the windows, is easily visible from a wing of the main house. Privacy issues are also a concern through the kitchen window (also without window treatments), which is in direct view of a neighbor's house. External shutters or specialty glass would resolve these issues. The pool is directly in front of another wing of the main house, and is not as private as shown in the pictures . Additionally, workmen (carpenters, poolmen, gardeners, delivery people), and the owner's guests are a daily presence on the property. The furniture is nice, and the bed is very comfortable; the cottage is very clean. However, the kitchen is inefficient, ill equipped and poorly planned; a full size refrigerator and full size dishwasher could easily be accommodated. There is no "villa brochure", with particulars of the cottage, restaurant suggestions, area events, tv channel listings, etc. We have rented a variety of villas in different locations over the last two decades, and this property does not compare favorably to others we have rented, and, in our opinion, did not give us good value for our money.Owner response: On arrival, the renters wanted a shower curtain for the walk-in decorator shower that does not use a curtain. When they arrived they did an extensive amount of laundry, stuffing the dryer, breaking it and telling the housekeeper that the washer or dryer, in the different places they visited, had been broken. We immediately offered them their money back, which they would not accept. The cottage bathroom windows are about 9 feet high, covered with Fishtail Palms and impossible to look in. The next door neighbor’s house is separated from the kitchen windows by extensive shrubbery, a solid wooden fence and about 100 feet of space. The two acre property contains the cottage and a house for my wife and me. No other people live here and it is not particularly big. Yes, we do have a full time gardener, but that is why everyone raves about the grounds. Also, the pool is maintained, there are deliveries from time to time, and a carpenter comes when something has to be repaired. We happen to have very few guests. At that time, no one was in the pool or walking around the grounds. The kitchen was designed by an award winning designer. The rational for refrigeration and dishwasher under the cabinets is to provide maximum open space. The kitchen is highly functional as well as aesthetic. There is no “villa brochure” as this is not a hotel. But, there is a basket containing maps, things to do, menus, etc. Normally, we recommend verbally the places to visit, restaurants and other opportunities based on the weather and the needs of the people. We have had very special relationships with most of the renters. In this case, when I would greet the tenants in the morning, I would not receive a response.

My husband and I stayed at the cottage in June of 2009. We were absolutely awed by the beauty of the grounds! The cottage was the perfect size for the 2 of us, plus our little dog. It was clean, comfortable, and modern. The owners were hospitable and friendly, and we enjoyed every minute of our vacation. We watched manatees, dolphins, and water birds from the private beach, and we were amused by the variety of lizards that kept the tropical gardens around the cottage. Everyday was like being in our own little paradise. I just hope we can arrange things to go back. I regret not writing a review earlier. It has always been on my mind since the place left such a wonderful impression. Thank you, for such a memorable vacation!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

The cottage is so lovely, comfortable and efficient. The kitchen is good sized with all necessary appliances and utensils. The bed is super comfortable. The bath has a large shower and plenty of shelves for cosmetics. The closet is roomy. The washer and dryer so convenient. But most of all it's the decor inside and the tropical foliage outside that makes this place a dream come true. I couldn't stop snapping pictures of the different species of trees and flowering plants. The small private beach is perfect and the water is calm. We enjoyed an excellent dinner at Cafe Gabbiano on Siesta Key and the pastries at C'est La Vie in downtown Sarasota are as good as a Paris patisserie!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I wanted a very relaxing and quiet honeymoon and the cottage could not have been more perfect! From the tropical gardens to the private pool, the property was spectacular! The cottage was very clean and very well maintained! My husband and I walked the private beach every morning and enjoyed the most romantic sunsets, we felt like we were in our own paradise! Also daily, a manatee would swim by to check us out! We will definitely be returning in the near future! The owners were fantastic as well, always willing to help whenever needed!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I loved our stay at the Mirman's Cottage. I searched for months to find the perfect spot for our much needed vacation without our children, and this was definately it.The cottage is very private and there was a perfect amount of space for my husband and I. The location was the absolute best. My husband and I saw tons of condos while we were in Siesta Key and none of them had as private of a beach access as we did. We saw no one on our little private beach. Except dolphins and manatees which we saw in the water right in front of us. Even the Sail cruises drive right by the house for their sunset cruise. We sat on our own private beach and watched the sunset everynight. The Owners were also very helpful but not overbearing. Ilene gave us maps and told us great places to eat. Alvin gave us tours of the property and gave us fresh fruit from the trees. The mangos were the best!! Overall I would highly suggest this as a vacation spot. We will definately go again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
