I love having guests so much that I commissioned a well known Mexican architect to build an eight bedroom eight bath guest house overlooking my lush, tropical garden. Our guest house is like a B&B only better and like a hotel or motel only better. We can help you to find out if retirement in Mexico is for you.

You can relax in splendid solitude or take a five minute walk and explore the charms of Ajijic (AH- He-Heek) a 14th century picture post card, cobblestone street village on the north shore of Lake Chapala where great restaurants abound. You can dine al fresco on traditional Mexican fare or take your pick from Argentine, French, Italian or international cuisines. Whether you decide to read a good book or to explore this fascinating area Skip your friend in Mexico will do everything possible to make sure your holiday is the best ever.

This is our third stay at Angel Flores Guest House and, as on other occasions, we loved our stay. We always feel welcome and like family. The grounds are lush and beautiful, the rooms are large and clean, and Skip, the proprietor, is a wealth of information on the local scene. The kitchenette outside is so convenient when you want to buy some of the great local fresh produce and cook for yourself, and has every device or cooking utensil you could need. Great value!

Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Owner response: Kelly you and Randy are always welcome. You both make the guest house what it is. Thanks again. Skip & Felipe

My husband Rick and I stayed at Angel Flores for about 2 weeks when we were moving to Ajijic. Our house wasn't available until April 1, and we are so glad we found this amazing guest house as a transition location. It is such a unique concept. The rooms are very comfortable, with plenty of room for luggage, a big desk for computers or other "stuff" and tastefully furnished. But the incredible part of the guest house is the huge outdoor space, where everyone comes to know each other, cook together, share experiences, and in our case, become good friends. The location couldn't be better, right in the absolute heart of town. Within a block you can get a massage, shop for veggies or wine, eat at great restaurants, buy some comfy cotton clothes, etc. We arrived with our car loaded with our favorite things, and were able to leave the car packed, in a secure spot right in front of the house, until we moved. We were even able to bring our dog, and she loved it, too.

Angel Flores Guest House is much more than simply a place to lay your head .... it is an adventure that starts as soon as you enter into the lush garden and are greeted by Skip and his 3 small canine friends. With 8 guestrooms sleeping 16 people and several well-appointed outdoor rooms, this is a great place to meet all sorts of interesting people from many parts of the world. What fun it is to chat as you make your breakfast in the outdoor kitchen and plan your day at the table of the outdoor diningroom. The outdoor covered livingroom is an atmospheric place to sip your wine, listen to fine music (that is always playing), catch-up on the day's going-ons or your e-mail. The gardens also provide space for quiet solitude and reading. Friendly neighbours, colourful streets and a lovely lakefront malecon. Perfect!

My wife and I recently spent 9 days with Skip and his wonderful staff. The accomodations were just fine, but the best part was the beautiful surroundings and attention to detail. We went to breakfast with the owner the first morning and he explained to us what we should expect from the community, the best places to get a great meal, to get money exchanged and the best shopping experience. This was one of our best vacations and one of the main reasons was that we were treated like family at there. As far as we are concerned, this is a best buy and we recommend this facility to everyone.

My partner and I highly recommend this guest house. We stayed here for a week at the end of October, 2011/beginning of November, 2011. Skip is warm and friendly. He is highly knowledgeable about attratctions in and around Ajijic and Chapala, and is more than willing to share his knowledge of the area. I would recommend without hesitation a stay here whether for a night or a week or however long. The garden is a delight, and its variety should astonish.

Our short stay at Angel Flores Guest House was such a joy. The House is in a typical neighborhood one block north of the Carreterria (main road from Chapala to Jocotopec), and you can walk into the heart of the village to the plaza of Ajijic in less than 5 minutes. Skip‘s guest house has the most beautiful outdoor living areas. (Huge covered veranda with lovely sitting area with a wide screen TV, DVD’s, music etc.) There is an outdoor covered dining area and an outdoor kitchen with all the necessary items to make you feel right at home. (Markets are close by and are just around the corner). We enjoyed Danny’s for breakfast (No food is available so you’ll want to provide your own snacks.) The lush tropical gardens throughout the property are just beautiful. The view from the upstairs mirador will take your breath away! The 360 degree views of Lake Chapala and the hillsides are so awesome. My husband and I shared a bottle of wine while taking in the views and we loved how Ajijic is such a lovely and welcoming village. The guest house accomodations are everything they say in their ad and the owners made sure our stay was most comfortable. Skip has been retired since 1995 and shared with us a wealth of information about the area after we told him we were considering the Lake Chapala area as a retirement destination. We will be back and we will definitely plan to stay at the Angel Flores Guest House again. We are already planning our return trip to Ajijic, Mexcio!

Everything was as described in the listing and the photos accurately portray the lovely gardens and the very clean guest rooms. The owners (Skip and Felipe) can answer any questions and Felipe can give you a guided tour to nearby sites for a very reasonable rate. Located a few short blocks from the town plaza and about 6 blocks from the town pier and lakeside walkway (which is beautiful). Skip keeps the price very affordable and this is excellent accommodation for the price (keep in mind that it is a guest house, so it does not serve breakfast and it is not a luxury villa). The extras include an outdoor kitchen, a lounge area, a toll-free phone and roof-top decks, Rooms are very clean and have safe drinking water. Ajijic is a safe place, but we felt particularly safe in the guest house. Ajijic is a typical Mexican town, so we heard roosters, donkeys, dogs barking and the occasional street party as part of the ambience. Mattresses are very firm (as is common in Mexico). While in Ajijic it is worth making a visit to the public baths in San Juan Cosala, which is nearby. The bus stop is one block away, so you really don't need a car (don't rent because the insurance costs in Mexico are high).

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful guest house. The yard is lush and full of nooks and crannies to relax listening to soothing music. The room was in a new building, tiles throughout, large shower, immaculate. The king size bed was very comfortable. There is an outdoor kitchen with everything you need to cook if you so desire. And you can park your car off street, behind an electric gate! It is right downtown and we walked to all the magnificients restaurants Ajijic has to offer, but at the same time this property is very quiet at night. Skip is a very friendly man who will share his knowledge of the area and will make your stay most enjoyable. Thank you for the memories, Skip, Hasta Luego! Joelle, Florida
