More than its description!

Angel Flores Guest House is much more than simply a place to lay your head .... it is an adventure that starts as soon as you enter into the lush garden and are greeted by Skip and his 3 small canine friends. With 8 guestrooms sleeping 16 people and several well-appointed outdoor rooms, this is a great place to meet all sorts of interesting people from many parts of the world. What fun it is to chat as you make your breakfast in the outdoor kitchen and plan your day at the table of the outdoor diningroom. The outdoor covered livingroom is an atmospheric place to sip your wine, listen to fine music (that is always playing), catch-up on the day's going-ons or your e-mail. The gardens also provide space for quiet solitude and reading. Friendly neighbours, colourful streets and a lovely lakefront malecon. Perfect!

Wonderful experience

My wife and I recently spent 9 days with Skip and his wonderful staff. The accomodations were just fine, but the best part was the beautiful surroundings and attention to detail. We went to breakfast with the owner the first morning and he explained to us what we should expect from the community, the best places to get a great meal, to get money exchanged and the best shopping experience. This was one of our best vacations and one of the main reasons was that we were treated like family at there. As far as we are concerned, this is a best buy and we recommend this facility to everyone.

A Wonderful Stay

My partner and I highly recommend this guest house. We stayed here for a week at the end of October, 2011/beginning of November, 2011. Skip is warm and friendly. He is highly knowledgeable about attratctions in and around Ajijic and Chapala, and is more than willing to share his knowledge of the area. I would recommend without hesitation a stay here whether for a night or a week or however long. The garden is a delight, and its variety should astonish.

We loved Angel Flores Guest House - our home away from home!

Our short stay at Angel Flores Guest House was such a joy. The House is in a typical neighborhood one block north of the Carreterria (main road from Chapala to Jocotopec), and you can walk into the heart of the village to the plaza of Ajijic in less than 5 minutes. Skip‘s guest house has the most beautiful outdoor living areas. (Huge covered veranda with lovely sitting area with a wide screen TV, DVD’s, music etc.) There is an outdoor covered dining area and an outdoor kitchen with all the necessary items to make you feel right at home. (Markets are close by and are just around the corner). We enjoyed Danny’s for breakfast (No food is available so you’ll want to provide your own snacks.) The lush tropical gardens throughout the property are just beautiful. The view from the upstairs mirador will take your breath away! The 360 degree views of Lake Chapala and the hillsides are so awesome. My husband and I shared a bottle of wine while taking in the views and we loved how Ajijic is such a lovely and welcoming village. The guest house accomodations are everything they say in their ad and the owners made sure our stay was most comfortable. Skip has been retired since 1995 and shared with us a wealth of information about the area after we told him we were considering the Lake Chapala area as a retirement destination. We will be back and we will definitely plan to stay at the Angel Flores Guest House again. We are already planning our return trip to Ajijic, Mexcio!

Excellent Value. Clean and welcoming guest house close to the main square in Ajijic

Everything was as described in the listing and the photos accurately portray the lovely gardens and the very clean guest rooms. The owners (Skip and Felipe) can answer any questions and Felipe can give you a guided tour to nearby sites for a very reasonable rate. Located a few short blocks from the town plaza and about 6 blocks from the town pier and lakeside walkway (which is beautiful). Skip keeps the price very affordable and this is excellent accommodation for the price (keep in mind that it is a guest house, so it does not serve breakfast and it is not a luxury villa). The extras include an outdoor kitchen, a lounge area, a toll-free phone and roof-top decks, Rooms are very clean and have safe drinking water. Ajijic is a safe place, but we felt particularly safe in the guest house. Ajijic is a typical Mexican town, so we heard roosters, donkeys, dogs barking and the occasional street party as part of the ambience. Mattresses are very firm (as is common in Mexico). While in Ajijic it is worth making a visit to the public baths in San Juan Cosala, which is nearby. The bus stop is one block away, so you really don't need a car (don't rent because the insurance costs in Mexico are high).

Ajijic's Angel Flores Guest House is first rate!

My stay at Angel Flores Guest House has been everything I hoped for. I wanted privacy, secure off street parking and access to a kitchen to cook what ever I chose to. The guest house has all of that plus lush tropical gardens. Situated in a typical neighborhood one block north of the Carreterria (Main Road from Chapala to Jocotopec), you can walk into the heart of the village to the plaza of Ajijic in less than 5 minutes. I have stayed on both sides of the highway and this location is preferred. This is a value at $50 a night. The guest house is staffed by the owners so every care is given to detail. There are great views of the village, lake and hillside, from the rooftops, little markets are at both corners and the village of Ajijic is one of the most lovely and welcoming villages in mexico.

I was a guest at Skip's and Felipe's lovely guesthouse for a week. The rooms are spotless, well maintained, comfortable, and in my opinion, large enough, and with plenty of storage. No radio or TV in the rooms, which for me was a plus because I prefer the sound of birds, but it may displease others. A full length mirror would have been useful for dressing since my room only had a small bathroom mirror. I loved sitting on each of the 3 lanais which all have terrific views. And the view from my room and shower is one that I miss . There were very few books and no videos available that I saw, or maybe I was just not shown where they were. The free call to the states was a nice bonus. As a female traveling alone , I felt safe on the property at all times, partly due to a locked gate as well as two very sweet but good watchdogs, and partly because the village itself had a non- threatening feel to it, although I'm told that, as everywhere else, common sense should prevail. It was an easy walk to nearly everything, including the lake for sunsets. The hosts are very kind, and Skip was usually available for questions. Skip also accompanied me to a restaurant and an ATM on my first evening there, which was appreciated, and I was included in a family outing one afternoon, which was very thoughtful and lots of fun. Would recommend to friends.

Skip and Felipe, I can not thank you both enough for the wonderful stay I had at your guest house on March 5th! Because of you both, my less then 24 hours visit to Ajijic became enjoyable and relaxing instead of stressful and rushed. Your home is beautiful, the architecture is outstanding and the grounds/gardens are unlike any I have ever seen in a guest house setting. The sounds that I woke up to in the morning had me believing I was in a tropical rain forest! I look forward to staying with you again on my next (longer!)visit.....sometime next week!

This is by far the most relaxing place we have ever stayed in. The grounds are absoulty beautiful-The outdoor Kitchen has everything you need to cook and is very clean- the rooms are great-plenty of hot water for the shower. The host Skip and Felipe are the best around. Very helpful and just all around great people. Skip can tell you anything you need to know about relocating to the Ajijic area. We took a tour with Felipe to Guadalajara and went to places we would have never known about on our own- Felipe took great care to make sure we were seeing what we wanted to see. Words just cant describe what a great place this is to stay with the best host ever. A+++++++++ if you dont stay here you are making a big mistake! Skip and Felipe we hope to return soon!

If you don't already know, Ajijic is a small village that retains much of the flavor of old Mexico. We were there for the holiday season and there was much celebration going on. But, while close enough to easily walk to everything Ajijic has to offer, when you get back to the Angel Flores Guest House, you are surrounded by quiet, peaceful gardens. The pictures do not do it justice! Skip has been retired there since 1995 and has a wealth of information for anyone considering this as a retirement destination. Felipe is Mexican with excellent English who will give you yet another perspective on Ajijic and beyond. They are both incredible treasures who not only inform, but welcome you as a friend. More helpful, warm and congenial hosts could not be found anywhere. We would not hesitate to stay here again when we return to Ajijic. We feel as though we made two friends who we will remain in touch with after we retire and move to the Lake Chapala area.

We stayed at Angel Flores Guest House over the Christmas holiday 2009 and it was absolutely the best vacation we ever had. The guest house isn't just a place to sleep, it is a haven with friends that you have just met. We spent much time not only with the other guests, but with our hosts Skip and Felipe. We were made to feel as though we were cherished friends. The guest house is beautiful, as you can tell from the pictures, but the warmth and comfort of the place have to be experienced to be believed. We would come back from a hectic day of walking through the market or along the malecon or through the mercado or even jumping on a bus to Guadalajara and as soon as we passed through the gates of Angel Flores, our tiredness would just vanish. We enjoyed our stay very much and will absolutely go back.

I'd never seen an oasis before, but from the moment the doors opened on Angel Flores #5 I knew I had found one. The flowers, the trees, the cobbled walkways all welcomed me. The love and effort put into everything here was apparent. The 400 thread count Egyptian cottom bedsheets and the over sized belightful pillows and blankets, all say "be comfortable, feel at ease." The same is echoed by the hospitality, Skip and Felipe, the other guests, the common areas with all the nooks and crannies... the well equipped kitchen, the multi-levels of conversation area, places for quietly enjoying a good book, a true oasis. Skip, your imaginaion, your creativity, and your charm have all combined to make staying with you a real pleasure. Thank you, Dr. Ron

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful guest house. The yard is lush and full of nooks and crannies to relax listening to soothing music. The room was in a new building, tiles throughout, large shower, immaculate. The king size bed was very comfortable. There is an outdoor kitchen with everything you need to cook if you so desire. And you can park your car off street, behind an electric gate! It is right downtown and we walked to all the magnificients restaurants Ajijic has to offer, but at the same time this property is very quiet at night. Skip is a very friendly man who will share his knowledge of the area and will make your stay most enjoyable. Thank you for the memories, Skip, Hasta Luego! Joelle, Florida

Skip & Felipe, I cannot find words to describe how wonderful it was to stay in your delightful guest house. The pictures barely do it justice. As a single woman I have to say I felt so secure in your surroundings. Thank you for making everything so comfortable and IMMACULATELY clean!! I will be back VERY soon.

What a wonderful place to stay, very clean and new, big shower and nice king size bed, the gardens are all over the place and just nice to set and read in and enjoy the weather. I loved the kitchen, you can make your own coffee, or just warm up left overs from on of many wonderful restaurants just a very short walk for the hotel. Skip and Felipe go out of there way to help you have a good time in there city and help you get see whats here and there in there wonderful city. I loved the open air markets on Monday and Wed each week, you get to see the city and the many ways of live in Mexico, not just the big box stores.

My husband and I spent a wonderful week in Ajijic. The accommodation was perfect and spotlessly clean. Our host, Skip went out of his way to look after our needs. Skip is extremely knowledgeable about the area and was an invaluable asset in helping us discover Ajijic and the surrounding area. We are going back to Ajijic soon and we have no hesitation in saying that we will stay at Skip's Guest house the next time too.
