Why the Owner Chose Point Reyes Station

We discovered the wonder of Point Reyes over 30 years ago when we would come to the Pt Reyes National Sea Shore to be in nature and get away from the city on weekends. We fell in love with this amazing corner of the world, with its little village, surrounded by a wild and natural beauty that is hard to believe is so close to a metropolitan center. This is a perfect place to walk, hike, bike, do photography, horseback ride, kayak, paint, read, write or just plain BE. A great vacation spot for nature lovers and those wanting easy access to places like San Francisco, Napa, and Sonoma, while being in a quiet world away from the "maddening crowd".

The Unique Benefits at this House

One Mesa, on the sunny Pt Reyes mesa, is so centrally located that you can walk to town, drive 5 miles up to Marshall for a quick Kayak on the Bay or pop over (HQ 2 miles away) to the National Sea Shore Park for an all day hike...or just sit on one of your many decks and enjoy the sky, the birds and the hot tub right without leaving the property! The deer do come right into the back field and the occasional bobcat has been seen prowling about. We spot Hawk and other feathered friends just sitting still.

Owner's Map of Point Reyes Station

We have spent much of our free time in adventure travel throughout the world. In the year 2000 we decided to celebrate by walking across Europe. We started at the North Sea and 4 months and 1,100 miles later found ourselves in Geneve. Traveling on remote pathways we stayed at countless vacation homes and bed and breakfasts. It was with that experience in mind that we designed One Mesa for short and extended stays. Our hope is that our guests will feel like One Mesa provides them the comfort and beauty that makes this the spot you will always come back.

Great retreat from the city

I can't say enough nice things about this place! We had a gathering of about 12-15 people for a 30th birthday party, and the space was perfect. In fact, the already beautiful pictures on the website do not do it justice. Each room is spacious and unique, and many come with private bathrooms equipped with large bathtubs. The property itself is very secluded and fenced off (which is great for dogs), yet stores, restaurants and activities (e.g. Tomales Bay Oyster Co) are just minutes away. On top of all that, the owner, Mila, was extraordinarily accommodating and a pleasure to work with. She even helped me find a masseuse for the birthday girl. Our only problem now is coming up with another excuse to rent this property!

Great for a large group

Guest: Scott (San Francisco)
Date of Stay: 10/28/11 Review Submitted: 12/01/11

We rented for a long weekend to hold a cooking competition; five couples plus judges and a small child. It was great for a large group - the dining area easily held us all at the long table. The kitchen was spacious with an island that made it easy to socialize while cooking. The view out the back was of the valley / river; every morning we were able to spot a few deer (which was exciting for the wee one). A quick trip into town brings you to the center of Point Reyes and its shops and festivals. We were fortunate to be there for the Fireman's Pancake Breakfast and Festival. I can't vouch for the other rooms, but the room we were in was spacious with its own bathroom and a daybed that was perfect for our young daughter. Quite comfortable. One room has a great clawfoot tub that you can soak in while looking out over the valley. We did forget a skillet lid while there, and the owner was very nice in tracking it down and getting it back to us.

Family Reunion

Guest: Loie (Berkeley, CA)
Date of Stay: 07/01/11 Review Submitted: 09/26/11

We rented One Mesa (the house and cottage) this past Fourth of July weekend for a multi-generation family reunion - there were 10 of us - and the space worked really well for our group. There were ample places to hang out - both indoors and out - on the many decks (almost every room has one) - and near the bbq on the patio in the lovely and well-maintained garden. The kitchen was outfitted well for meal preparation- and putting two tables together enabled us to fit everyone around the table for dinner. We found Mila to be professional, friendly and responsive from start to finish- on the phone while booking, orienting us upon arrival- and speedy to return a phone call while we were there when we had a question about an appliance. The house was spotless- and the location superb- very close to town, and to the great Pt. Reyes beaches - but with a feeling of privacy. I'd highly recommend One Mesa for a group vacation like ours.

A terrific place to stay with a group

Guest: Vickal (Calif)
Date of Stay: 05/01/11 Review Submitted: 09/06/11

I rented the whole b&b for a group of dear friends who get together every year. It was perfect! All the rooms were well-appointed and the inn keeper, Mila, was very accommodating. She even put me in touch with a caterer ( who prepared us a delicious dinner ) so we could dine in together. The beds were comfortable, the hot tub was fun and the deck overlooking the meadow was the perfect perch to sip wine. Even though we had a stormy weekend we were able to hunker down ( after hiking in the rain at Pt. Reyes National Seashore to view the tule elk ) in cozy surroundings and thoroughly enjoy the most beautiful place in the world!

It has been our pleasure to create an environment for people to enjoy themselves, connect with friends and family in fun and meaningful ways. Each group brings its own energy to One Mesa and the beauty is that they leave behind some of that, making it all the more special. I do believe this is a great spot from which to enjoy the wonders of West Marin and ones own "tribe"!

Excellent house for a family reunion (romantic getaway or even a small family vacation)

Guest: amy (san francisco)
Date of Stay: 03/11/11 Review Submitted: 08/30/11

My husband's family from England wanted to surprise him for his birthday and we decided to whisk him away for a long weekend in Point Reyes. One Mesa was an ideal location to celebrate and was able to accommodate six adults and two kids more than comfortably. The beautiful view in the back was a lovely backdrop to a lot of reminiscing and we had a fantastic barbeque (and cricket!) party in the front. The kitchen was even big enough to cook "a proper Sunday roast" and we all enjoyed being able to walk into Point Reyes Station from the house. Our host Mila bent over backward to make sure this weekend stayed a surprise and even welcomed us with a basket of delicious pastries from a local bakery. I recommend One Mesa to everyone- couples looking for a romantic weekend away, families looking for a place to relax (my kids loved visiting the horse and chickens living across the street) and to groups looking for a place to celebrate something special. Kudos to you Mila for running such a lovely spot and thank you for helping make our special weekend extra special.

A wonderful retreat

Date of Stay: 01/14/11 Review Submitted: 01/23/11

The house was lovely! It is surrounded by a beautiful, lush garden with gorgeous views. It feels very removed from the hustle and bustle, but its just a sort walk into town. Mila (the owner) was easy to work with and very sweet. She really went above and beyond! I would definitely recommend this property, and plan to go back.
