Bliss!

This vacation rental is a very special place for anyone looking for a relaxed, secure, private and beach accessible experience on Oahu. It is a paradise within paradise, no kidding! The property pictures and traveler reviews accurately depict what you’ll find. We love everything the north shore offers so for those who want to be located near the best beaches and small "local towns" you should seriously consider this place. In addition to the amazing house amenities and site attributes, the owner Jerry is quick to respond and provides clear and helpful information about arrival logistics (an important factor) after a long day of travel from the mainland. Take advantage of the beach house website with suggested places to eat and visit nearby. Can’t wait to return and we highly recommend this beach house for 2-3 people; you won't be disappointed.

Beach House Lover

We just finished our 5th stay at the beach house in as many years - actually, one year we came twice. It truly is Paradise...or as close as we've ever been. The ocean is framed exquisitely from your seat on the raised deck-the beautiful green lawn and the palms swaying take your eye to the sand and such a gorgeous beach, all literally steps away. It is the one place where we are most relaxed. The convenience of having your own house suits us. We mostly eat out but my husband enjoys walking the 2 blocks to great grocery store for morning paper and occasionally, we'll eat in and watch a video from the grocery store red box rental. To be able to walk from your own house right to the sandy beach is just heaven for me. We hope Jerry and Trish keep the house forever so we can get our Hawaii fix!!!

The house was exactly as advertised. It is clean and beautifully appointed with traditional (not touristy) Hawaiian furnishings that provided a true island ambiance. Everything you need is there from coffee filters and spices to a kayak and surf board. The grounds are perfectly manicured and the groundskeeper is a delight. The view and shoreline are serene, peaceful and exactly what we wanted. We walked on the beach for miles seeing few people, and those we did come across (whether local or visitors) were pleasant to speak with and enjoying the same relaxed tranquility. In the evening we’d barbeque steaks or fish on the lanai and relax to the hundreds of Hawaiian music selections while listening to the evening tide and enjoying the sunset. The foliage secludes the gated property and gives the feeling of being on your own little island. We drove to our favorite surf spots to include Laniakea, Log Cabins, Leftovers, Backdoors, Chun's, Velzy Land and of course the famous Pipeline and Sunset beaches. Then stopped by Storto's, our favorite sandwich shop in Haleiwa, and Masumoto's still has the best shaved ice in the world! When traveling East, be sure to snap a photo of the Couching Lion and Chinaman's Hat. A perfect get away from the hustle and bustle, and our time there went by much too quickly. The owners are very accommodating and have thought of everything. We highly recommend this property.

Mother/Daughter Vacation in Paradise

Guest: TEENA & LAUREN (SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA)
Date of Stay: 03/17/12 Review Submitted: 03/29/12

My daughter and I stayed at the house for 6 days after spending 3 days in Waikiki. We visit Oahu quite often and this is the best trip we've ever had. The house is exactly as described. The view of the ocean from the house is breathtaking. We each had a hammock to enjoy. The house was very comfortable to stay in. Location is perfect. Short to distance to grocery stores, restaurants and other North Shore attractions. Loved that we had a huge driveway and we can close the gate. Very secure. Have already recommended it to many of my friends. Bumped into the gardener a couple of times and he is the nicest guy. Deposit was returned quicker than I could unpack. Thanks for letting us stay. We look forward to staying there again.

Loved It!

Guest: Jenn (Missouri)

We loved everything about the house and location. My husband, 5-year old son and I spent a week at the beach house and found it to be very comfortable, well equipped and perfect for our needs. We spent quite a bit of time at other North Shore locations (Haleiwa, Sunset Beach, Shark's Cove) which were only 15-30 minute drive away...and when you have such beautiful scenary to enjoy, who minds driving?!! We also loved the community of Laie which was laid-back and comfortable. The beach is beautiful, quiet and calm enough for swimming (even for our little one). In my opinion, it is one of the best beaches on Oahu and we have visited many of them. We felt so lucky to spend so much time on this beautiful beach! A couple of things about the house. We loved the cozy "beachy" decorations and were surprised at how well stocked it was. We cooked a lot and found that the house had everything that we needed. The space was perfect for the three of us. Beach quipment and beach towels were available at the house. It had been raining a lot before and at times during our visit so the house (bedding, etc.) felt damp but it was nothing more than what you might expect with all of the rain and the oceanfront location. We adapted quickly and did not notice it after the first couple of days. We had a couple of routine maintenence issues that were resolved very, very quickly which we appreciated. The clothes dryer stopped working and was repaired the same day. Also, one of the palm trees near the house had a branch that banged on the roof when the wind blew (which is a lot on that side of the island). Since it caused some sleeping difficulties for us, we called and someone came out immediately and trimmed the branches so that it was no longer a problem. This was my 4th trip to Hawaii and had previously stayed in Waikiki each time but would never stay there again. I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed the atmosphere and style of the house. This is Hawaii as it was meant to be!!

Best vacation place we have stayed in. We were really excited before the trip and nervous that it wouldn't live up to our expectations but it exceeded our expectations. House had everything you need and landscaping was beautiful. Of course the ocean was right there! Can't say enough about our stay except it was to short! The owners seem to really care that you enjoy the place and are very easy to work with. The only recomendation I have is to bring your own snorkel gear with you. You will love, just hope you don't reserve it before our next trip there.

Oh My What a Treasure!

Date of Stay: 10/19/11 Review Submitted: 02/02/12

We spent 10 days here in October 2011and are planning to return for 3 weeks in 2013 so you know we loved it! We are retired and loved being able to wake up in the morning looking at the ocean from our bed, reading under the palm trees and walking an almost deserted beach. What more can you ask of paradise? The house is quite comfortable, immaculate and nicely provisioned. The surrounding area is fun to explore and is easy to navigate. It is only an hour and a half drive from Honolulu and is very near the Bonsai Pipeline. We ate fresh fish in and at several quite good restaurants in the area. The owners were responsive and helpful during the rental process and the on-site manager was most helpful too. This is a great place to go for a quiet refreshing break for our hectic lives (yes, even retirement can be hectic :o) And even for a 70/80 year old couple very romantic! We absolutely recommend it although we would rather keep this gem to ourselves.

Anniversary Vacation

Date of Stay: 09/29/11 Review Submitted: 10/17/11

The beach house was absolutely beautiful & exactly as described. The landscaping was also beautiful adding to beautiful sunrises. Laie is a very peaceful & laid-back town. Post-card scenery all around. Our week was busy enjoying all Oahu has to offer, but especially loved hiking Diamond Head, Makapu'u Lighthouse/trail. Matsumoto's shaved ice was the best and Giovanni's shrimp truck warranted several trips! There were so many things to see & do and just not enough time on the island for everything. Thank you Jerry for the opportunity to stay in your beachhouse. Hopefully we will return to Oahu again someday and would love to come back to your home!

The beach house was amazing! We had high expectations when we arrived & it far exceeded all of them. The location was perfect: quiet, low traffic, close enough to plenty of good restraunts, beaches, hikes, etc. We enjoyed being able to use the kayak, snorkeling equipment, surf board, body boards, life jackets, etc. We were there an entire week & still did not have time to take advantage of the barbeque, the croquet set. The beach house was very well maintained. Everyone we correspoded with was very polite & acomodating. We would come back in a heartbeat.

Two Weeks in Heaven

Guest: Prairie Girl (Olathe, KS)
Date of Stay: 06/11/11 Review Submitted: 06/29/11

We had stayed at the beach house for a week in January, 2010 and loved it so much that we booked two weeks this year (June, 2011). Again, you couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting. The beach is right at your doorstep. It's wonderful to be able to walk to the grocery store - I do wish that the Foodland in Laie carried alcohol - but otherwise, it's a great little market with friendly staff. It was also very convenient to have a kayak, surf board, boogie boards, and all the other equipment available for us. We spent many hours on the lanai staring at the waves rolling in...it doesn't get much more relaxing than that. All in all, if you're looking for a place to get away from the tourist traps and want to experience the true beauty of Hawaii, this is your place.

Snowbirds

Guest: Snowbirds (Oakland, MI USA)
Date of Stay: 02/15/11 Review Submitted: 04/07/11

My wife and I rented this beach house for 5 days in February, 2011. The beach and surrounding property were as beautiful as the photos, but we were able to stay in the house for only one night due to the strong mildew odor, especially in the bedroom. The windows in the house were typical Hawaiian beach type, according to the property manager, (wooden, open and close with a wooden pole) and did not close properly because the wood was wet and swollen. The ceiling and bedroom fans did not work so there was no way for us to dry out the place since we had light daily showers. My wife had a severe allergic reaction to the mildew/mold (unusual for her), and we spent the next day of our vacation trying to find a near-by rental so we could continue to enjoy the beach. No such luck in February. We called the property manager with our concerns, and she blamed volcanic ash as the allergen. Since we had already been in Waikiki for a week, we knew that was not the culprit. It turned out to be a very costly one night stay.

A cozy private retreat

Guest: Amanda (Alberta, Canada)
Date of Stay: 09/30/10 Review Submitted: 10/19/10

I would highly recommend this property to others. I was leary at first because there were no reviews on this property, but I gambled and won! This beach house is the perfect spot to catch your breath, relax and rejuvinate. Everything you need is there from beach towels and batteries to snorkel gear and boogie boards. The location is perfect! You can see the Foodland down the street and walk there in 3 minutes. The Hukilau Cafe is a few blocks away and worth visiting for a taste of local food. Something that was never mentioned was the close proximity of the Mormon Temple. The grounds are immaculate and the volunteers there are more than welcoming. I was impressed with the cottage grounds, the beach access, the quality of the beach, the privacy and the local people! Everyone is very friendly. I'm not surprised that most people who have stayed here come back time and time again. It is well worth it.

Private and Relaxing!

Guest: laieboy (San Leandro, CA)
Date of Stay: 09/24/10 Review Submitted: 10/21/10

We stayed here for 4 days of a 2-week vacation. It was the best 4 days of our trip! The rest of our vacation was in Waikiki. The property was well maintained, clean, private, and very relaxing. It was more that what's described on this site! You have to see it in person to appreciate it. It had all the beach gear you'll need. I especially liked going out on the kayak. The Property Manager, Brynn, was helpful and very pleasant to talk to - and so was Eddie. Wish we could've stayed here longer.... maybe on our next trip!
