Retiro Maya are spectacular beachfront cabañas, located on the finest swimming beach on the Mayan Riviera. The water in front on this quaint location is turquoise blue and only sand. You can get lost walking in the tranquil beauty of this paradise or swim to your hearts content in the warm waters of the Caribbean. This powdery white sand, "never gets hot," it is the best for your swimming and walking enjoyment.

Each cabaña is its own magical place. With its white sandy floor and the romantic shear mosquito net that drapes over the bed, so you are in your own world for love. The inlaid woodwork that is the headboard and night stands add to the romantic ambiance. You have plenty of room to place all of your belongings using the vanity, shelves, and hanging area, all made out of local hardwoods. The Mayan art on the walls lets you know that you are in the land that time forgot.

Retiro Maya has a great restaurant. It is opened from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mexican, Vegetarian and Sea Food,Coffee ready by 7 AM and after your morning swim, you can enjoy a wonderful breakfast overlooking the Caribbean Sea. We are always told that our food is delicious and the best in the area. We strive to maintain this level of excellence.

While at Retiro Maya, you may enjoy a massage from an actual Mayan Shaman or a professional masseuse. You may also experience a reflexology session and other "Hands On" therapeutic techniques.

  • My family and I stayed at the newly remodeled house for the second time. It is gorgeous. We had the best vacation in our lives. My children, in their teens, never left the water, so my husbahd and I where able to enjoy the house almost to ourselves. We had a cook the whole time which really made it a vacation for me. She is a wonderful cook and had the house spotless all the time. We really recomend this beautiful house in paradise very confortable and with exquisite taste.   • I would like to recommend the place I stayed in Tulum, Mexico, Retiro Maya. The owner Lu, is a wonderful woman, providing a warm welcome to a small place in paradise with 13 rustic cabanas (no electricity, mine had a real bathroom) a larger house for rent, and workshop space over looking the beach and it was heaven. If you want a tranquil vacation in a gorgeous place with a personal atmosphere and excellent service, this is it! I also had massages with the most amazing healer, a Mayan shaman, Daniel Pool Pech. (You can go through the Retiro Maya website to reach him.) The experience of a lifetime! As a healer, I am very sensitive to the energy of a place, and the energy of this place was wonderful. I felt very safe staying there by myself. I look forward to teaching workshops at Retiro Maya as well as taking my vacations there.

  • retiro maya was great; the staff was friendy and easygoing. the rooms were comfortable, and although we were using the shared bathroom it was no problem- they were kept very clean. i would return for sure. thanks for everything Kate
